Dreeniee82 takes title, splits final payouts with spoonface in Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThe first weekend of October brings many things, like the autumn season and changing temperatures. It also brings a new month for the PokerStars Women's League and the player-favorite EPT stop in London.

Speaking of London, the PokerStars Women Live event was in full swing on October 2. Many of the regulars in the Women's Sunday tournament were competing live instead, hoping to take down a coveted EPT Ladies Event title and the prestige that goes with it. Needless to say, it was a busy Sunday, indeed.

As for the Women's Sunday, the stats for today's event were as follows:

Total players: 216
Prize pool: $10,800.00
Paid finishers: 36

Due to so much other activity in the poker world, the numbers were down a tad this week, though the guarantee was still blown far out of the water.

There were three members of the PokerStars crew in the field today, all of whom had $50 bounties on their heads for players who were able to eliminate them from the action. The first to go was Team PokerStars Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome, who exited just into the second hour of play.

A bit later, Team PokerStars Pro Sandra Naujoks was eliminated in 64th place, and the newest member of the team, Viviam Im, followed soon after in 55th place.

As the third hour got underway, so did the payouts, as each of the final 36 was guaranteed a minimum of $81 for their efforts. Money jumps increased as only two tables remained, and late eliminations like LennyCALL in 13th place and Stjerneskud in 12th brought the final table closer. When BlinkBlink80 was busted in 11th place, hand-for-hand play ensued, and it only took a few hands before players moved all-in. But ElfinDance and AlwaysPlayJJ doubled up to stay in action.

AlwaysPlayJJ moved all-in again, though, and her A♦9♣ was up against the T♠T♣ of gamblegoddes. The board blanked with 7♠2♥J♠4♥5♣, and AlwaysPlayJJ was gone in tenth place with $172.80.

Simultanka1 and spoonface fight for chip lead

In the first few minutes of Level 17, with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante, players took their spots at the final table with these stacks:

Seat 1: gamblegoddes (68,402 in chips)
Seat 2: batoon635 (23,774 in chips)
Seat 3: BRS1111 (63,489 in chips)
Seat 4: simultanka1 (153,371 in chips)
Seat 5: ibelong2mark (48,480 in chips)
Seat 6: dreeniee82 (63,753 in chips)
Seat 7: ElfinDance (26,752 in chips)
Seat 8: spoonface (152,468 in chips)
Seat 9: Olya111 (47,511 in chips)

A few hands into action, ElfinDance moved all-in preflop with K♦J♦. Olya111 also pushed all-in with A♠Q♠, and original raiser simultanka1 called both players with A♥T♥. The board came 4♥3♠9♣3♣9♠, and the two pair played. Olya111 and simultanka1 split the main pot, and Olya111 took the side pot, as ElfinDance left in ninth place with $205.20.

Batoon635 was the next player to move, and she did it preflop with T♣9♦. Ibelong2mark called from the big blind with A♠J♥, and the ace-high held up to the Q♥2♦4♠7♥6♦ board. Batoon635 was eliminated in eighth place with $270.00.

A few hands later, BRS1111 pushed all-in preflop with A♥T♣, but simultanka1 was able to call from the small blind with a dominating A♠K♣. Nothing came from the dealer on the 4♦4♥6♣8♦7♦ board to save BRS1111, who departed in seventh place with $378.00.

The very next hand saw an initial raise by gamblegoddes, but when dreeniee82 reraised all-in, gamblegoddes called all-in for 51,302 chips with 5♣5♥. Dreeniee82 showed 7♠7♦, and that pair held up to the 3♠6♣J♦9♣K♦ board. Gamblegoddes exited in sixth place with $486.00.

Other chips changed hands as ibelong2mark doubled through dreeniee82, and Olya111 doubled through ibelong2mark.

Ibelong2mark then moved her short stack of 34,621 all-in preflop with Q♦Q♣, but spoonface called from the small blind with A♥9♠. The flop of 5♠4♦A♠ immediately gave spoonface the pair of aces and the better hand, and that stood up to the 5♦ turn and 8♦ river. Last week's Women's Sunday eighth place finisher, ibelong2mark, took fifth place this week with $626.40.

Simultanka1 made her move from the small blind with K♥J♦, and dreeniee82 called from the big blind with A♦5♠. The board came 7♣7♠5♥6♠6♣, and the ace kicker played with the two pair on the table to eliminate simultanka1 in fourth place, which was worth $918.00.

Olya111 doubled through spoonface to stay in action, but she tried it again a few hands later. Olya111 and spoonface got into a preflop raising war that prompted Olya111 to move all-in with her A♣J♣. Spoonface called with K♦K♣, and that pair held as the board came 5♠4♠T♦3♦Q♠. Olya111 departed in third place with $1,220.40.

UK players fight to the finish

The final two players, both hailing from the United Kingdom, began their battle with these chip counts:

Seat 6: dreeniee82 (315,978 in chips)
Seat 8: spoonface (332,022 in chips)

Almost immediately, the players began sitting out in order to wait for the tournament to pause. They both wanted to discuss a deal. Eventually, they did decide to split the rest of the prize pool evenly, each taking $1,914.30.

They played on for a moment, and spoonface decided to move all-in with A♦T♣. Dreeniee82 called with Q♥4♦ and found a queen on the Q♣2♠2♣ flop. The 9♠ turn and K♣ river ended it, leaving spoonface out in second place with $1,914.30.

Dreeniee82, written about here when she finished second in a recent WCOOP tournament, took home the title to go with her $1,914.30 in cash. Congrats!
