Holla_d_wf84 holds lead from start to finish in Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThere can be no doubt that PokerStars knows how to wave hello to September in a big way. The first Sunday of the month is also the first day of the 2011 World Championship of Online Poker, and it launches with three massive tournaments with many more and millions of dollars in guarantees on the way!

Why play WCOOP? Silly question, we suppose. There are the millions of dollars we just mentioned, along with the biggest titles in online poker, and those beautiful gold bracelets that will be awarded to winners of the events. But even more than that, there is a special promotion for female PokerStars players. Women's WCOOP offers the chance to win a $3,500 prize package to the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas! Become the highest ranking female player of the WCOOP this month, and you'll be on your way to the PCA in January for sun, fun, and poker, of course.

PokerStars also welcomes the month of September with its weekly Women's Sunday tournament. While players are firing up their screens to play WCOOP events, they also entered the biggest online women-only tournament on the Internet. And the final registration numbers were:

Total players: 205
Prize pool: $10,250.00
Paid finishers: 36

Included in the list of players today were two bounties. Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander, who final tabled the Women's Sunday last week, didn't do so well this week, exiting in 170th place. Also in the field was Team PokerStars Pro Fatima Moreira de Melo of Holland, who left in 158th place. Congrats to the players who picked up those $50 bounties for eliminating them.

Play moved forward, and as the second hour finished up, there were only five tables remaining, but moments later, the field was reduced to four. The money bubble burst so the final 36 players could be paid, and action spurred the remaining players toward the final table. Thirty minutes later, only two tables were left open.

It didn't take long before the 12th place elimination of monkeyface29 and 11th place bustout of oliva86d led to hand-for-hand play. It lasted more than a few minutes, but just as the three-hour mark hit, two players doubled through tonika88. She then doubled once through gonna111 to stay in the game.

The other table saw the action, though, as SADE31 made her move with K♠Q♥ against the 5♦2♥ of holla_d_wf84 in a battle of the blinds. The board came 2♣4♦J♠8♦A♥, and the pair of deuces eliminated SADE31, keeping her from making back-to-back Women's Sunday final tables. She exited in tenth place this week with $164.00.

Holla_d_wf84 holds massive lead over final table

Level 17 just began for the players, which meant blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante to go with their starting stacks:

Seat 1: MtgoExodia (36,900 in chips)
Seat 2: arimateia210 (51,752 in chips)
Seat 3: gonna111 (70,535 in chips)
Seat 4: ladeborah (40,456 in chips)
Seat 5: tonika88 (22,842 in chips)
Seat 6: susietc (22,855 in chips)
Seat 7: Flonci (35,618 in chips)
Seat 8: holla_d_wf84 (297,040 in chips)
Seat 9: BikkembergPT (37,002 in chips)

Aggressive moves began only a few hands into the final table. It started with susietc pushing all-in from the small blind. Flonci reraised all-in from the big blind, prompting original raiser holla_d_wf84 to fold. Flonci was ahead with A♦K♦, and susietc was at risk with A♣7♠. The board of J♣K♥A♥2♥2♣ changed nothing, and susietc was out in ninth place with $194.75.

On the very next hand, arimateia210 pushed from early position with J♦J♠, and Flonci again reraised all-in, which isolated. Flonci showed A♠K♥, and she caught the river on the 2♠7♥9♦T♠K♠ board to win the hand with kings. Arimateia210 exited in eighth place with $256.25.

Two hands later, tonika88 moved all-in from early position, and BikkembergPT reraised all-in. Everyone else folded, and tonika88's tournament was on the line with J♥8♣. However, BikkembergPT turned over A♣J♦, and that held up to the 3♦T♣2♠K♠2♦ board. Tonika88 left in seventh place with $358.75.

Ladeborah doubled through Flonci, and BikkembergPT did the same through hola_d_wf84.

MtgoExodia attempted the same feat, pushing her last 19K all-in preflop with A♣Q♦, but holla_d_wf84 called with A♥K♦. The board blanked with J♦8♠7♥5♠T♣, and MtgoExodia went out in sixth place with $461.25.

More double-ups were in order, as gonna111 doubled through hola_d_wf84, and ladeborah actually tripled up.

But gonna111 couldn't maintain momentum. She moved all-in again, this time with A♥5♦, but ladeborah was there with A♠K♠. The board came 2♦A♦J♠6♣6♦, and the king kicker played to eliminate gonna111 in fifth place with $594.50.

Holla_d_wf84 started a hand with a raise, as usual, and Flonci responded with an all-in move from the big blind. Holla_d_wf84 showed A♥2♣, but Flonci had A♠Q♠ and looked for that double-up. However, the board produced 6♣Q♣2♥2♦7♦ for the trip deuces, and Flonci left with the bad beat and $871.25.

Can anyone stop holla_d_wf84?

Ladeborah was certainly going to try. And this double-up through the chip leader helped quite a bit:

The very next hand saw BikkembergPT push all-in with K♥5♥, and holla_d_wf84 called with Q♠Q♣. That pocket pair held up to the 8♦T♣9♥4♠5♠ delivered by the dealer, and BikkembergPT was gone in third place with $1,158.25.

Heads-up play then began as follows:

Seat 4: ladeborah (214,402 in chips)
Seat 8: holla_d_wf84 (400,598 in chips)

And the match was over in four hands. On that fourth hand, the two players went to battle to see a T♦4♦7♥. Ladeborah moved all-in for 143,402 chips, and holla_d_wf84 called with T♠8♠ and top pair. The 7♣ on the turn and 3♦ on the river both failed to help ladeborah, who took second place and the $1,537.50 that went with it.

Holla_d_wf84 of Switzerland won this week's Women's Sunday and $2,096.23 in cash. Congratulations!
