Hot dog! LuckyWeeneer wins Women's Sunday and $2684.39

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgAs PokerStars begins to wrap another stellar year of online poker, the largest site of its kind in the world is also amidst a grand celebration of its 10th anniversary. While that virtual party includes things like the December 4 World Record tournament and other fun events, PokerStars also offered a $55 Red Spade Open tournament. That took place today with a $1 million guarantee and $100 bounties on all Team Pros, but more than 28,000 players took part and created a prize pool of well over $1.4 million!

Meanwhile, the Women's Sunday went on as usual but drew the largest crowd to date with its $10K guarantee, when more than 300 players took their seats and created a prize pool that simply smashed that guarantee. With almost $3K set aside for first place, it was an example of the tremendous growth that this unique tournament has seen in 2011 alone.

What changes are in store for 2012? Stay tuned. If you keep showing up for this tournament in bigger numbers each week, who knows how large the Women's Sunday will get!

For now, let's applaud this week's numbers:

Total players: 309
Prize pool: $15,450.00
Paid finishers: 45

There were six - SIX! - members of Team PokerStars in the field today, each with a $50 bounty but all looking for their own Women's Sunday title.

Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree was the first to exit, though, departing soon into the first hour of play, and she was followed a bit later by Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome. Celina Lin also exited fairly quickly.

Deeper into the tournament Team Pro Vivian Im busted in 109th place, followed by Vanessa Selbst in 91st. But still going strong as the tables broke and the players went further into the payout portion of the tournament was Spain's Ana Marquez, pictured here.

With only two tables remaining, Marquez was reduced to the short stack at 15 players, but she was then eliminated in 14th place in a three-way hand that saw Marquez all-in with K-2 against pocket kings and pocket fours. Marquez was officially eliminated by BJ_Berlin, who picked up the $50 bounty and moved closer to the final table.

The elimination of roxy174 in 11th place put hand-for-hand action into motion, and it only took a few minutes for mamasha555 to push all-in with A♦8♣ against the K♠J♠ of Mad4Cards. The board came 7♠6♠6♦2♣J♣ and rivered the best hand for Mad4Cards. Mamasha555 was out in tenth place with $231.75.

The very short stack of Aussteiger13 went all-in on the second hand of the table, and Samar4eg, LuckyWeeneer and imeturmoney went along for the ride. They checked the flop of Q♠6♥3♠, but the 6♦ on the turn prompted a bet from LuckyWeeneer and folds from the other two players. Aussteiger13 showed K♥J♠, but LuckyWeeneer had the better hand with K♣Q♥. The 5♥ on the river ended the tournament for Aussteiger13, who took home $270.37 for ninth place.

Ramunepa doubled through Mad4Cards to stay alive.

Imeturmoney tried the same thing, moving all-in preflop with A♥8♠ against the K♣Q♥ of Mad4Cards. but the flop came 7♠K♦6♦ to give Mad4Cards the pair of kings, and the 2♦ and 6♠ only gave her two pair. Imeturmoney was out in eighth place with $370.80.

Moments later, calsdion pushed all-in for her short stack from the button with 3♦3♥, and original raiser Samar4eg called with Q♦J♦. The board of J♦Q♣6♦2♣2♥ gave Samar4eg the better two pair, and calsdion had to depart in seventh place with $525.30.

Kingoflimbs1 doubled through Samar4eg to catapult into first place on the leaderboard, and LuckyWeeneeer took a big pot from BJ_Berlin to jump into second place. Then BJ_Berlin doubled through Mad4Cards to stay in action.

All but one player at that stage wanted to discuss a potential deal, but without consent from all, the administrator could not present numbers. Play continued past the 3.3-hour break.

BJ_Berlin was still the shortest stack of the six players and made her move again. She pushed from early position with A♠5♠, and Samar4eg reraised all-in with K♥J♠ to isolate. BJ_Berlin eyed another double-up until the flop showed 6♠9♥K♠. The board finished with 2♣ and 5♣, and the pair of kings eliminated the November 6 Women's Sunday champion in sixth place with $679.80.

Mad4Cards was still in contention but chose to battle with Samar4eg. The latter moved all-in preflop, and original raiser Mad4Cards called all-in with A♥J♣. Samar4eg showed T♥T♠, and the race was on, but the board of K♣5♥5♠7♣6♦ allowed the pocket pair to remain the best hand. Mad4Cards exited in fifth place with $880.65.

The next player at risk was short-stacked ramunepa, who pushed from the big blind with 5♠5♥. Original raiser Samar4eg called with J♦T♠ and hit the flop when it came 2♥T♦Q♠. The K♦ and 6♠ ended the hand and sent ramunepa out in fourth place with $1,274.62.

LuckyWeeneer then doubled through Samar4eg to take over the chip lead:

Final three agree

The remaining three players decided to pause the tournament and discuss a potential deal. It took more than 20 minutes, but they finally agreed on the following payouts, with $150 removed to add to the eventual winner's total.

Seat 4: Samar4eg (321360 in chips) = $2,284.23
Seat 6: kingoflimbs1 (157623 in chips) = $1,960.82
Seat 7: LuckyWeeneer (448017 in chips) = $2,534.39

As soon as play resumed, kingoflimbs1 doubled through Samar4eg, and then LuckyWeeneer doubled through Samar4eg, leaving the latter with 26,200 chips.

And the very next hand ended the tournament. It started with Samar4eg moving all-in with A♥9♠. Both other players called. After the 4♥Q♠9♦, kingoflimbs1 bet, and LuckyWeeneer called. The 7♦ on the turn prompted kingoflimbs1 to move all-in with Q♥T♦, and LuckyWeeneer called with Q♣J♥. The J♦ dropped on the river to give LuckyWeeneer two pair. That left Samar4eg out in third place and kingoflimbs1 out in second.

Congratulations to LuckyWeeneer of Moldova for taking the Women's Sunday title and $2,684.39 in cash!
