Lizetta outlasts the field at last, winning nearly $2,500 and Women's Sunday title

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgPokerStars Women always has promotions running for female poker players. There is the Women's Poker League that awards monthly and yearly prizes, and there are tournaments like this - the Women's Sunday.

Several times each year, there are also special events like PokerStars Women Live, a live poker tournament that gives women the chance to come together and play in a live setting. The next event will be held on October 2 during EPT London at the Victoria Casino, and satellites are already running online. One £1,500 prize package is awarded each and every Sunday, and qualifiers for that £108.50 tournament are available, including a freeroll held at 15:15 ET every day of the week!

Starting tomorrow, a special promotion begins for women playing the upcoming WCOOP. Not only will any player who reaches a Women's Poker League or Women's Sunday final table in August win a WCOOP Steps satellite ticket, but the woman who performs best in the WCOOP series will win a $3,500 prize package to PS Women Live at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January.

So much excitement for women at PokerStars!

To the task at hand, let's look at today's phenomenal numbers for the Women's Sunday:

Total players: 242
Prize pool: $12,100.00
Paid finishers: 36

There were three players in the field carrying the PokerStars logo, and each boasted of a $50 bounty for any player who was able to knock them out.

Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin and Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome were eliminated in the first hour of play, while Team Pro Liv Boeree was going strong well into the third hour.

She made it into the money and to the final three tables with a healthy stack. But she finally invested her last 19K with pocket threes. SpringSmile, however, had pocket aces, which held up to the K-5-2-8-Q board. SpringSmile received the $50 bounty, and Liv Boeree exited in 21st place with $102.85.

About 10 minutes past the 3-hour mark, hand-for-hand play began to determine the nine final tablists, and after a number of double-ups for short stacks, the decisive hand happened. SaCmls24 pushed her short stack of 2,370 all-in with A♠2♦, and mimamotte and PinkRabbit89 went to the flop of 6♠9♥2♥. Mimamotte bet and PinkRabbit89 folded, and mimamotte showed 7♦7♠. The J♥ and 4♥ finished the hand and allowed the sevens to hold, eliminating SaCmls24 in tenth place with $193.60.

Lothiniel and Lizetta lead final table

The final table began in the midst of Level 18, with blinds at 2,000/4,000 and a 400 ante. Players' starting chip stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: Lizetta (112,538 in chips)
Seat 2: INNA87 (97,725 in chips)
Seat 3: Lothiniel (121,866 in chips)
Seat 4: PinkRabbit89 (90,224 in chips)
Seat 5: FinancialPOK (57,092 in chips)
Seat 6: citycookie (82,140 in chips)
Seat 7: mimamotte (73,135 in chips)
Seat 8: Yspudingai (38,968 in chips)
Seat 9: SpringSmile (52,312 in chips)

Lizetta came on strong and took over the lead in only a few hands, but they remained very close in chips. But mimamotte quickly climbed into the top spot with a double through INNA87.

That left INNA87 with a smaller-than-desired stack, and she risked it all two hands later with A♠K♦. SpringSmile was there with K♣6♣, but the 8♦J♠9♠8♥6♠ rivered the best hand for her with eights and sixes. INNA87 was out in ninth place with $229.90.

FinancialPOK doubled through mimamotte, and Yspudingai doubled through citycookie. The latter had less than 10K remaining but doubled once through SpringSmile.

Citycookie couldn't last much longer, however. The all-in move was made for less than 30K with K♦T♦, but Yspundingai called with 8♠8♣. The board of A♣9♣4♥Q♦4♣ eliminated citycookie - who won her seat in the Last Chance $5.50 satellite today - in eighth place with $302.50.

Double duty

SpringSmile doubled through Lothiniel. Lizetta did the same through Yspudingai, and the next hand saw Lothiniel double through Lizetta. PinkRabbit89 did it through mimamotte, who then doubled through FinancialPOK.

Still following along?

Mimamotte and FinancialPOK soon tangled again. This time it was a raise and call from the blinds to see a 5♥A♦2♣ flop. FinancialPOK bet, and mimamotte raised all-in with A♠6♦ for top pair. But FinancialPOK called with A♥K♠ for that same pair with the better kicker. The 8♣ and 7♠ finished it for mimamotte, who took home $423.50 for seventh place.

Three hands later, Lothiniel pushed all-in with J♠J♦. Original raiser Yspundingai called with 9♠9♥ but caught the board as it came T♠K♥K♠9♦A♠ for the full house. Lothiniel left with a bad beat story and $544.50 for the sixth place finish.

Only more hands happened before SpringSmile risked it all with 2♥2♣. Lizetta reraised all-in, and all folded to her as she showed the A♠A♦. The aces held up to the K♦9♦5♥7♣8♣, and SpringSmile was gone in fifth place with $701.80.

FinancialPOK goes for the windfall

FinancialPOK then doubled through Yspudingai in a pot worth more than 363K and jumped into a significant chip lead:

Yspudingai was the short stack and moved all-in a short time later with 8♦8♥. Lizetta reraised all-in with A♣K♠ to isolate, which worked. The flop of 2♣A♦5♥ put Lizetta in the lead with aces, and the 6♥ turn and J♥ river let it be. Yspudingai was eliminated in fourth place with $1,028.50.

The final three took it slow to start. But short-stacked PinkRabbit89 had to move and did so with Q♥T♦. Lizetta was there with 8♦6♠ but flopped a pair of sixes. The board of 6♦J♥2♥5♠A♦ eliminated PinkRabbit89 , who won her seat in the Last Chance $5.50 satellite. That paid off with $1,367.30 for third place.

Spain versus Russia in heads-up action

The battle began with these chip counts:

Seat 1: Lizetta (290,584 in chips)
Seat 5: FinancialPOK (435,416 in chips)

Lizetta chipped up quickly and took the lead, but the two changed positions several times.

But it was Lizetta who kept the pressure on until the final hand. FinancialPOK raised, and Lizetta responded by reraising all-in. FinancialPOK called all-in with A♥K♥, and Lizetta was in trouble with A♠J♦. It looked like a double-up until the flop came J♠8♦9♣. The 9♠ on the turn gave Lizetta two pair, and the 9♦ on the river turned it into a full house. FinancialPOK of Spain, who finished second in the March 27 Women's Sunday, accepted second again today, this time for $1,815.00.

Lizetta of the Czech Republic made two Women's Sunday final tables in May but finished in ninth and eighth places. Today, she took her satellite win from today's Last $11 Qualifier and turned it into victory and $2,474.45. Congratulations!
