Look! LucTuli takes down the Women's Sunday for $2,402.98
The second Sunday of September rounds out the first week of WCOOP, and the excitement surrounding the annual online poker series is continually growing. The first 20 events are already in the books, which means 20 gold bracelets have been awarded, and many millions of dollars have been paid out as well. And it goes without saying that every single event's prize pool has surpassed its guarantee!
PS Women wants to know how many women are playing WCOOP? There is a big promotion for female players in the Series, as Women's WCOOP will be rewarding the highest ranking woman with a $3,500 prize package to the 2012 PCA. On top of the usual payouts and prestige associated with WCOOP, a trip to the Bahamas in January will be icing on the cake.
Meanwhile, we still have our weekly Women's Sunday tournament. And this week, the numbers were strong:
Total players: 235
Prize pool: $11,750.00
Paid finishers: 36
As some of the top female players on PokerStars in the field, there were also four players wearing the PS logo and sporting $50 bounties. The first to leave the crowd was Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome, who exited before the first hour was complete. Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was the next to go, ending her run in 99th place.
Still going strong into the second hour of play were Team Pro Liv Boeree and the newest addition to Team PokerStars, Ana Marquez of Spain. The latter was in top chip position at the 1.5-hour mark and looking to make a strong showing in her first Women's Sunday as a Team Pro.
Boeree ended up finishing in 81st place before the third hour of play, while Marquez maintained her spot at the top of the leaderboard. She stayed in the top ten as the tournament thinned down to only two tables. But as the final table neared, she lost the majority of her chips to 4Lisa and was eliminated by hanka<3 a few hands later. Ana Marquez took 11th place and the $188.00 that went with it.
Hand-for-hand action ensued, and several hands later, a battle of the blinds took klodiya and LucTuli into play, as klodiya moved all-in with A♣8♣. LucTuli called with T♠9♠ and made a pair on the 3♠9♥4♥5♠5♥ board. Klodiya left in tenth place with $188.00.
4Lisa forges ahead with chip lead
Just at the three-hour mark, Level 17 brought with it the final table, as well as blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante. The players' starting stacks were as follows:
Seat 1: L3Genden13 (82,762 in chips)
Seat 2: crankychick (36,602 in chips)
Seat 3: hanka<3 (113,295 in chips)
Seat 4: Really?42 (27,678 in chips)
Seat 5: kaprizulina (64,886 in chips)
Seat 6: Tinke_T07 (37,566 in chips)
Seat 7: Ullis_M (126,250 in chips)
Seat 8: 4Lisa (132,887 in chips)
Seat 9: LucTuli (83,074 in chips)
The second hand of the final table saw Really?42 move all-in preflop with K♥T♥, and 4Lisa reraised all-in to isolate, which worked, with T♦T♠. The tens held up to the 9♥5♦6♠4♥J♣ board, and Really?42 was quickly eliminated in ninth place with $223.25.
Kaprizulina took a hit when crankychick doubled through her. Several hands later, when Tinke_T07 moved all-in, kaprizulina called with J♦J♣, but Tinke_T07 showed A♦A♥. Just when it looked like kaprizulina was in trouble again, the flop came 4♥J♠6♣ for the set of jacks. That set fended off danger as the 9♠ and Q♥ finished off the board. Tinke_T07 left in eighth place with $293.75.
And a double-up for kaprizulina through chip leader 4Lisa put the former in contention for the lead:
Hanka<3 also doubled through 4Lisa, but LucTuli then doubled through hanka<3. Ullis_M also doubled through hanka<3.
Meanwhile, kaprizulina was back on the case when L3Genden13 moved all-in. Kaprizulina called with A♠Q♠ when L3Genden13 showed 7♠7♣, and the board of 3♣9♦T♦Q♥8♠ allowed kaprizulina to win the race with a pair of queens. L3Genden13 left in seventh place with $411.25.
Crankychick doubled through kaprizulina to stay in action. And crankychick moved all-in again shortly thereafter from the small blind, and hanka<3 called from the big blind for her tournament life with A♥T♣. Crankychick showed 9♣9♥, and the pair held up to the J♦Q♠3♣6♠4♦ board. Hanka<3 was gone in sixth place with $528.75.
Two hands later, Ullis_M pushed from the small blind for 54,900 chips. Original raiser LucTuli called with A♣Q♦, which dominated the K♣Q♠ of Ullis_M. The board came Q♥J♥T♦4♦J♦, and the ace kicker played with the two queens to eliminate Ullis_M in fifth place with $681.50.
4Lisa doubled through LucTuli, but it wasn't enough. 4Lisa moved all-in again soon after with J♥5♥ preflop from the small blind, and LucTuli called from the big blind with A♦8♠. The cards came 6♣4♣T♦Q♥3♥, and that left 4Lisa out in fourth place with $998.75.
Crankychick was the next player at risk, doing so with J♥T♠ preflop against the A♣4♠ of kaprizulina. The flop came A♦6♠6♦ to give kaprizulina two pair, and the Q♣ turn and 8♠ finished it off. Crankychick was gone in third place with $1,327.75.
LucTuli takes on kaprizulina for the title
The final two players began their heads-up match as follows:
Seat 5: kaprizulina (247,404 in chips)
Seat 9: LucTuli (457,596 in chips)
LucTuli applied pressure from the start, and though kaprizulina put up a fight, LucTuli stayed in the lead with hands like this:
Kaprizulina finally pushed all-in with less than 100K in chips holding A♠4♠, and LucTuli called with K♠9♥. The flop of 2♦9♣K♥ immediately gave LucTuli the two pair, and the 6♠ on the turn and J♦ on the river finished the hand. Kaprizulina took second place and $1,762.50.
LucTuli of the Czech Republic won this week's Women's Sunday tournament and the $2,402.98 fist place prize. Congratulations!
