No calamity for Kalamit_Jane, winner of $2,331.30 and Women's Sunday title

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgWCOOP has been an exciting ride thus far, though there is still more than a week's worth of tournaments left on the schedule. There is still plenty of time to satellite into any WCOOP event via the multiple qualifiers running around the clock. And there is extra incentive for women to play and climb the leaderboard, as the top ranking female player of the series will win a $3,500 prize package to the 2012 PCA in the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, women are doing quite well in WCOOP in the early going. Tat0chka took a sign-up bonus and translated it into an Event 14 victory and more than $110K, and dreeniee82 took a solid second place finish in Event 19 for $117K. And Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome made the final table of Event 31 and placed fourth in that 8-Game event.

There's still time for anyone to get in on the WCOOP action. And for the women interested in doing so, check out the Women's WCOOP page to see what it can be worth for you!

Let's get to today's Women's Sunday action. Here were the big numbers:

Total players: 228
Prize pool: $11,400.00
Paid finishers: 36

Speaking of talonchick, she was one of the PokerStars players in the field today, though she was the first of the team members to exit. New Team PokerStars Pro player from Spain, Ana Marquez, exited soon after Rowsome. Team Pro Liv Boeree, who just won a WCOOP Second Chance tournament this week, ended up finishing 65th in today's Women's Sunday.

Still going strong well into the third hour of the tournament was Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander of Belgium, hanging around the top ten as four tables were reduced to three.

As the field thinned further, though, Sjlot was eliminated in 20th place by danili67, and the $50 bounty went to danili67.

A short time later, hand-for-hand action indicated the final table was near, and it happened when kassike and tinykitten10 went into battle. After the Q♣7♣2♠ flop, kassike bet, and tinykitten10 check-raised all-in. Kassike called all-in with K♥K♣, and tinykitten10 was behind with A♥Q♦. The 5♠ on the turn changed nothing, but the A♣ on the river gave tinykitten10 two pair. Kassike was out in tenth place with $182,40.

Tinykitten10 roars into final table with chip lead

Moments after the three-hour clock struck, the final table began in Level 17, with blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante. The players' starting stacks were:

Seat 1: arimateia210 (81,169 in chips)
Seat 2: Kalamit_Jane (110,947 in chips)
Seat 3: hanka<3 (36,626 in chips)
Seat 4: tinykitten10 (176,532 in chips)
Seat 5: selga8 (31,351 in chips)
Seat 6: v1taminka (118,033 in chips)
Seat 7: oliva86d (73,375 in chips)
Seat 8: NonnieP (38,516 in chips)
Seat 9: Muschmaus1 (17,451 in chips)

It didn't take long for action to heat up at the table. Short-stacked hanka<3, who made her second final table in two weeks, moved all-in preflop with 8♦8♥, and v1taminka called with A♥J♣. The board came 4♣3♥6♥J♦5♥ and eliminated hanka<3 in ninth place this week with $216.60.

Muschmaus1 had a rough time but doubled through oliva86d to stay in the game. But after selga8 doubled through muschmaus1, the latter was in dire need of another move. All of Muschmaus1's chips went in with her small blind holding K♣9♠, and v1taminka was there with A♦8♥. The cards came Q♠5♥T♣A♠6♣, and the pair of aces was enough to eliminated Muschmaus1 in eighth place with $285.00.

NonnieP was the next to risk it all and did so with K♥J♦. The unfortunate thing was that Kalamit_Jane called with A♣J♣. The board came 5♣3♠7♣A♦Q♥, and NonnieP was out in seventh place with $399.00.

Selga8 doubled up again, this time through arimateia210. Two hands later, arimateia210 pushed all-in for less than 11K with A♥7♣, but selga8 called with A♣T♠. The board came 8♦8♥Q♣6♣3♥, and arimateia210 was gone in sixth place with $513.00.

Oliva86d was the next to risk it, pushing all-in from the small blind with A♣2♣. Original raiser v1taminka was there with A♠Q♥ and made the call, and the better hand held up to the 6♥7♣5♠7♥K♥ board. Oliva86d departed in fifth place with $661.20.

Kalamit_Jane then found an opportunity for a huge double through v1taminka here:

On the very next hand, v1taminka got involved with tinykitten10 to see a flop of T♦5♣4♣. V1taminka bet, tinykitten10 check-raised, and v1taminka called. The 7♠ on the turn prompted v1taminka to move all-in, and tinykitten10 check-called with T♣T♠. That set of tens dominated the 9♦9♣ hand of v1taminka, and the K♥ on the river finished the hand. V1taminka ended her tournament in fourth place with $969.00.

Selga8 then doubled through Kalamit_Jane but remained in third place of the three contenders.

For the most part, however, three-handed play seemed filled with more caution than the final table to that point. After nearly a half hour of play, selga8 was short again and pushed all-in for 71,536 chips with Q♥9♦. Kalamit_Jane called with A♦4♦, and the board blanked when it came 5♠J♥K♣7♠2♠. That left selga8 out in third place with $1,288.20.

A strong heads-up battle

The last two players standing started their match as follows:

Seat 2: Kalamit_Jane (321,571 in chips)
Seat 4: tinykitten10 (362,429 in chips)

Kalamit_Jane was very aggressive and immediately took the lead. She continually increased that lead until tinykitten10 had to double up just to stay in action.

But tinykitten10 was forced to attempt another double. It happened in a hand that started with a raise from tinykitten10 and call from Kalamit_Jane to see a A♦J♦K♠ flop. A bet and call brought the A♣ on the turn, at which point Kalamit_Jane bet, tinykitten10 raised all-in, and Kalamit_Jane called with A♠Q♦. Trip aces beat the K♣Q♠ of tinykitten10, and nothing about the 2♣ on the river changed that. Tinykitten10 ended her battle in second place with $1,710.00.

Kalamit_Jane of the Czech Republic won the Women's Sunday title and $2,331.30 in cash. Congratulations!
