Repeat for Rapuncel<3 of Russia with 2nd Women's Sunday win
The last Sunday in September brings other "lasts" with it. It is the last weekend of WCOOP, and today was the last chance to win one of the many £1,500 PS Women Live prize packages to EPT London.
But all of that will lead to firsts. Next weekend will be the first Women's Sunday of October, and we have exciting news about the weekly tournament coming next month. We will also find out who will be the highest ranking female player of the 2011 WCOOP series and win the $3,500 prize package to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. And as always we will have exciting Facebook and Twitter freerolls to help boost your bankrolls. Check the very end of this blog post for links to follow along.
For now, let's stay in the present and deal with today's Women's Sunday. We had another solid field of women at the tables this week:
Total players: 224
Prize pool: $11,200.00
Paid finishers: 36
There were two players in the field bearing the PokerStars logo, and both had $50 bounties on their virtual heads for the opponents who were able to eliminate them.
Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was the first to exit in 163rd place. And it was well into the second hour of play that Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was eliminated in 71st place.
Into the third hour, five tables were reduced to four, and on toward the last two tables. That happened just before the fourth hour of play started, and players were eliminated at a rapid pace. The exit of gingerweasel in 11th place brought hand-for-hand action into play.
After more than 10 minutes, Koukla13 made her final move with A♥4♣, and luckyno75 was along holding 9♥9♦. The pocket pair held up to the 5♥T♣6♣J♥7♣ board, and Koukla13 had to leave in tenth place with $179.20.
Luckyno75 leads at the start
In Level 18, with blinds of 2,000/4,000 and a 400 ante, the final table was underway with these starting stacks:
Seat 1: hirrrvi (44,266 in chips)
Seat 2: ipokergirl13 (77,137 in chips)
Seat 3: kristiine'88 (64,323 in chips)
Seat 4: xF1ONAx (88,728 in chips)
Seat 5: Rapuncel<3 (84,758 in chips)
Seat 6: luckyno75 (134,052 in chips)
Seat 7: ibelong2mark (74,176 in chips)
Seat 8: rad1353 (64,014 in chips)
Seat 9: Danie_slot (40,546 in chips)
Action was fast at the final table, despite the length of time it took to reach this point in comparison to other weeks.
Rad1353 got involved preflop with xF1ONAx to see a flop of T♥3♠5♠. The bet came in the form of an all-in move by rad1353 holding A♥9♠ for ace-high, but xF1ONAx called with A♠Q♠ for the flush draw. The J♠ on the turn made that flush, and the 6♥ on the river ended the hand with rad1353 out in ninth place. That finish was worth $212.80.
Two hands later, Rapuncel<3 came in for a preflop raise, and ibelong2mark reraised all-in from the small blind for more than 45K. Rapuncel<3 called with A♥K♠, which dominated the A♠9♦ of ibelong2mark. The board came T♦A♦7♥K♣4♠, which was two pair for Rapuncel<3. Ibelong2mark left in eighth place with $280.00.
Another two hands into play, Danie_slot made an all-in move preflop after an initial raise by Rapuncel<3. She made the call with A♦A♣, and Danie_slot showed her A♠8♠. The board came 6♠J♣Q♥6♦3♦ without anything to save Danie_slot, who exited in seventh place with $392.00.
The next to risk her tournament life was ipokergirl13, who moved all-in preflop with A♣K♦. That looked like the best hand when original raiser luckyno75 called with A♠5♠, but the flop came T♦A♦5♣ and gave luckyno75 the two pair. The 8♠ on the turn and 3♦ on the river ended the hand and the tournament for ipokergirl13, who finished in sixth place with $504.00.
The rise of Rapuncel<3
Looking for her second Women's Sunday title, Rapuncel<3 decided to make a big move in the right spot, and the double-up through luckyno75 paid off:
Luckyno75 then doubled through xF1ONAx to stay in the game, and a battle of the short stacks saw hirrrvi double through kristiine'88, then kristiine'88 double back through hirrrvi.
Hirrrvi decided to move all-in yet again, this time with more than 77K chips preflop. Kristiine'88 called all-in for 33,382 chips with 6♣6♥, and hirrrvi showed A♥Q♠. The race began with an uneventful flop of 8♠J♣4♣, but the Q♥ on the turn gave hirrrvi the queens and the lead. The 8♣ came on the river to end it for kristiine'88, who finished in fifth place with $649.60.
Soon after, hirrrvi got involved again, starting with a preflop raise. Rapuncel<3 reraised all-in from the big blind, and hirrrvi called all-in with K♣K♦. Rapuncel<3 showed A♥T♣, and the flop of 5♥7♣A♣ cracked those kings. The 7♦ and 6♠ completed the board, and hirrrvi had to leave in fourth place with $952.00.
Rapuncel<3 was in control of the three-handed action with more than 400K chips, while luckyno75 and xF1ONAx struggled to stay around the 100K mark. Rapuncel<3's frequent all-in moves put her opponents to the test in nearly every hand.
Finally, xF1ONAx made the all-in call on one of those challenges, and she showed A♦T♦, which was up against the 5♣5♥ of xF1ONAx. The board produced 4♥2♣J♥6♥6♣ but nothing to save xF1ONAs from leaving in third place with $1,265.60.
Rapuncel<3 reaches for repeat
The final two players began their battle with these counts:
Seat 5: Rapuncel<3 (519,210 in chips)
Seat 6: luckyno75 (152,790 in chips)
Luckyno75 was quickly reduced to a stack of less than 100K and moved all-in with K♠9♣. Rapuncel<3 called with J♣J♥, and the board came 8♠A♠3♣8♥8♦ board. Both players made two pair, but the jacks and eights ruled the day. Luckyno75 took home $1,680.00 for second place.
After winning her first Women's Sunday title on July 3, Rapuncel<3 of Russia did it again with a win today. She was awarded $2,290.40 for the victory. Congratulations!
