Russia rules as 13RusPro77 wins $2,208.60 in Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgPokerStars players accumulate FPPs (Frequent Player Points) consistently through cash game and tournament play. They add up quickly for regular players. But what to do with those little buggers?

Sure, there are items in the VIP store that can be purchased with points. Not only are there electronics, books, and gift certificates available, but there is a women's section with hoodies, t-shirts, and sweatpants especially made for women.

On the other hand, a person could also use those FPPs to translate into more money. There are now FPP qualifiers to the Women's Sunday! For example, there was a 500 FPP turbo qualifier today, highlighted in pink as are all other PokerStars Women events, and there were enough players to be able to offer four entries to Women's Sunday. In preparation for next week's event, 500 FPP qualifiers are already set up for June 10 (13:15 ET), June 11 (13:15 ET), and June 12 (13:05 ET).

For now, let's focus on this week's action! The numbers came in when registration ended after the first hour:

Total players: 216
Prize pool: $10,800.00
Paid finishers: 36

The largest prize pool in months was a perfect way to kick off the month of June. And Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander took a seat in the tournament in order to offer a $50 bounty to the woman who knocked her out. Though she sat out of the tournament, it wasn't until an hour and a half later that she was blinded out. The last of her chips went all-in with her blind, and veruda02 was able to win that hand and collect the $50.

Action came to a tense point about two hours and 15 minutes into the tournament, when hand-for-hand play slowed things down to determine the money bubble player. It took nearly 10 minutes, but krs4u became the unfortunate 37th place finisher. That left mona58 to finish in 36th place and everyone guaranteed at least $81.00 for making it so far in the event.

Just when the field was reduced to only two tables, danico7777 exited in 18th place. (Read about her as our May Women's Poker League featured player here). In less than 10 minutes, Ph03be- exited in 15th place, denied her second final table in two weeks. SOlohaAAA took 14th, followed by hazisarkany, and Ms.Kata. That led to a big hand that knocked out two players. Ladulaura73 moved all-in, as did Ö_ö °Mopsi°°. Meshcheryak called both with A♣A♠, which dominated the K♠K♥ of Ö_ö °Mopsi°° and the 4♦4♣ of ladylaura73 on the 3♥8♣7♠T♣5♠ board. Ladylaura73 took 11th place, and Ö_ö °Mopsi°° exited in tenth, both with $172.80.

Meshcheryak muscles into lead

In Level 17, with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante, the players were ready for the final table with these starting stacks:

Seat 1: 13RusPro77 (119,652 in chips)
Seat 2: tinykitten10 (69,138 in chips)
Seat 3: FinancialPOK (65,303 in chips)
Seat 4: Meshcheryak (184,661 in chips)
Seat 5: veruda02 (76,958 in chips)
Seat 6: BYWYEBA (67,931 in chips)
Seat 7: tissa brasil (32,524 in chips)
Seat 8: IntheMoment (5,801 in chips)
Seat 9: blewtitt (26,032 in chips)

It didn't take long for short-stacked IntheMoment to move all-in, and the first attempt resulted in a double through blewtitt. But the second time, IntheMoment did it with 7♠6♠, but 13RusPro77 called from the small blind with A♠J♥. The board of 3♥7♦5♠A♦5♥ gave 13RusPro77 the best two pair, and IntheMoment - who finished in seventh place at the April 10th final table - took ninth place and $205.20 today.

BYWYEBA doubled through Meshcheryak to stay in the game. And when blewtitt pushed all-in from the big blind, original raiser BYWYEBA called with A♠6♦. Blewtitt's A♣T♥ looked promising, even as the 4♦5♥9♥ flop came down, but the 6♥ on the turn gave BYWYEBA the pair. The 2♦ on the river ended blewtitt's run in eighth place, and $270.00 was awarded.

Veruda02 advancing

Veruda02 then hit a solid double through FinancialPOK as follows:

FinancialPOK was in trouble and all-in with the big blind holding Q♦T♠, but 13RusPro77 just happened to call with A♦A♣. The board of 8♦Q♥J♦4♥4♣ couldn't overcome pocket aces, and FinancialPOK - second place finisher at the inaugural Women's Sunday on March 27 - had to accept $378.00 for second place this week.

After a raise from veruda02 to start a battle of the blinds, BYWYEBA moved all-in from the big blind with A♣9♥. Veruda02 called with 2♦2♠ for 57,043 more, and that hand only improved on the K♦5♣4♥7♣2♣ board to a set of deuces. BYWYEBA, who won her seat via the last $11 qualifier today, finished this event in sixth place with $486.00. Not bad for an $11 investment!

Tissa brasil then began to climb, doubling through 13RusPro77 and again through Meshcheryak. Tinykitten10 doubled through veruda02.

Sometime during the 3.5-hour break, veruda02 became disconnected but found her way back. And it was veruda02 and Meshcheryak who battled in several big pots, exchanging the chip lead when they did.

The next all-in came when 13RusPro77 made that move, but original raiser tissa brasil called all-in for her tournament life with K♣J♠. 13RusPro77 showed A♦9♥, and that ace was the best kicker as the board of T♠7♣4♠7♥T♥ appeared. Tissa brasil left in fifth place with $626.40.

Lucky number 13RusPro77

With her elimination of tissa brasil, 13RusPro77 moved into the chip lead. And when she tangled with veruda02 in a battle of the blinds, there was no fear. After the 2♦J♥5♥ flop, veruda02 bet, and 13RusPro77 raised all-in. Veruda02 called for the rest of her chips with A♠Q♠, but ace-high was no match for the J♣7♣ and top pair of 13RusPro77. The 4♣ turn and T♦ river ended the hand, and veruda02 vanished in fourth place with $918.00.

Tinykitten10 was on the short stack of the three and moved all-in with K♠Q♥, but Meshcheryak called with A♦J♣. The dealer gave them 7♦A♥J♥Q♠4♣, and the flopped two pair of Meshcheryak was good for the pot. Tinykitten10 bested her fifth place finish from last week and took home $1,220.40 for this week's third place spot.

The final two players began their battle as follows:

Seat 1: 13RusPro77 (419,681 in chips)
Seat 4: Meshcheryak (228,319 in chips)

Though Meshcheryak took some initial pots, 13RusPro77 took over and didn't ease up on the aggression at all. Finally, the two took a raise and call to the 9♦5♦3♠ flop. Meshcheryak then bet all-in with T♣9♣ for top pair, but 13RusPro77 called with 3♦6♦ with some outs. The 4♠ and 2♣ did show up, making the straight for 13RusPro77 and leaving Meshcheryak out in second place with $1,620.00.

Russian player 13RusPro77 won the Women's Sunday tournament and $2,208.60 in cash. Congratulations!
