Spain reigns again as lulilla picks up Women's Sunday win

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgWhen a team welcomes a new member, it signifies that person's achievement of goals and success, as well as the growth and overall improvement of the group. And the PokerStars family did just that recently with the addition of Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome.

Many players recognize talonchick from the tables, as she has been a regular player on PokerStars for years, and one who specializes in Omaha but plays hold'em quite proficiently. She is also a familiar face in the PokerStars Women tournaments and league events, and she has made the Women's Sunday final table three times in only a few months.

Now, the newest player sporting a PokerStars logo next to "talonshick" as she plays can now be identified by face and name, Adrienne Rowsome.

She is the latest proud member of Team Online and the larger PokerStars family, and we at PokerStars Women are elated to have another female face in the sometimes overwhelming sea of male players. Welcome, Adrienne!

With the task at hand of today's Women's Sunday, let's get down to business with this week's numbers:

Total players: 194
Prize pool: $9,700.00
Paid finishers: 36

There were two PokerStars team members in the field today, both carrying $50 bounties for the players able to knock them out of action. Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin was pre-registered for the tournament but didn't last long into the first hour, ultimately knocked out not long after the start time.

Rowesome was also playing in today's event, and it was into the second hour that she was relegated to less than 2K chips and moved them all-in with A♣J♠. When the hand was over and the board showed J♥8♥7♠A♠3♠, Xenapoker turned over 8♠6♠ for the rivered flush. Rowesome was out, and Xenapoker took home an extra $50 for that knockout.

It was past the two-hour mark that the money bubble burst for today's players, with Talitha5 the first to cash for $72.75. And little more than 30 minutes later, only two tables remained.

Just before the 3-hour mark, hand-for-hand action ensued. Afrodita27 took a chance with A♠8♣, and vayacondiaz called from the big blind with 7♣5♠. The board of 5♦6♠T♦3♠2♥ eliminated afrodita27 in tenth place with $155.20.

Calsdion starts at the top

Just into Level 17, the final table began with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante. Players' chip counts were as follows:

Seat 1: vayacondiaz (57,402 in chips)
Seat 2: Josrocky (26,957 in chips)
Seat 3: dreeniee82 (64,768 in chips)
Seat 4: Cutekill (37,913 in chips)
Seat 5: calsdion (132,190 in chips)
Seat 6: Glückskind_8 (84,149 in chips)
Seat 7: Tamster73 (89,294 in chips)
Seat 8: lulilla (67,616 in chips)
Seat 9: Sveg_Annika (21,711 in chips)

There was plenty of action on the very first hand. It was Sveg_Annika who doubled through calsdion to stay alive. And a few hands later, Josrocky did the same through calsdion, knocking the latter out of first place position before she had much of a chance to enjoy the spot.

Then an even bigger hand developed. It started with a raise from Tamster73. Dreeniee82 reraised all-in, and Cutekill called all-in. Tamster73 called both of them with A♠J♥, dreeniee82 showed 7♦7♥, and Cutekill turned over A♦Q♠. The dealer gave them 6♥J♣2♣8♦6♣ and paired Tamster73's jacks for the winning hand. Cutekill left in ninth place with $184.30, and dreeniee82 (at her second Women's Sunday final table this year) was directly behind in eighth place with $242.50.

The quick downfall of a chipleader

Lulilla doubled through Tamster73 to jump into first place, and Josrocky doubled through calsdion again to stay at the table. Then Sveg_Annika doubled through lulilla but remained the short stack. But after vayacondiaz doubled through Tamster73, the latter was on a short stack as well.

Sveg_Annike doubled through calsdion, which resulted calsdion pushing all-in a few hands later with J♠J♦. That looked good for a double up against the A♠J♥ of lulilla, but not after the flop came A♦A♣Q♥. Trip aces for lulilla held up to the 8♣ turn and 5♠ river cards, and calsdion was out of the tournament in seventh place with $339.50.

After a return from the 3.5-hour break, Tamster73 doubled through lulilla to stay in action, but lulilla took a pot worth more than 112K from vayacondiaz to solidify her first place standing.

Vayacondiaz decided to move her short stack all-in with A♠K♦, but Josrocky called with A♦A♣. The board of K♠2♦A♥9♠6♥ gave vayacondiaz a flopped two pair but it made the set of aces for Josrocky. That left vayacondiaz out in sixth place with $436.50.

Sveg_Annika was the other very short stacked player at the table and moved all-in with Q♣T♠. Gluckskind_8 called from the big blind with none other than A♠A♥. The board of 5♥6♠3♣6♥Q♥ sent Sveg_Annika out in fifth place with $562.60.

Josrocky and lulilla jockey for lead in final four

Tamster73 anxiously sought a double-up, and the move came with T♥T♠. Josrocky called from the big blind with K♦K♠, and nothing on the Q♠A♠4♦5♦7♦ changed the outcome. Tamster73 was out in fourth place with $824.50.

Gluckskind_8 had been relegated to a stack of less than 20K and made her push from the big blind with J♥T♠. Josrocky and lulilla called and checked down the board of Q♦J♦A♥8♦Q♠. Josrocky showed 8♥7♥ for two pair, but lulilla had A♠5♦ for the better two pair. Gluckskind_8 departed in third place with $1,096.10.

Two Spanish players battle for the win

The last two players were, indeed, Josrocky and lulilla. Their starting chip stacks were:

Seat 2: Josrocky (338,691 in chips)
Seat 8: lulilla (243,309 in chips)

Lulilla slowly but surely increased her chips and evened the stacks, but Josrocky grabbed a pot worth 176,400 chips to retake the lead. But lulilla doubled up here to gain control:

Four hands later, Josrocky made her move with Q♦J♦. Lulilla called with T♠T♦ and improved to a set of tens with the revelation of the T♥2♦7♠. The 3♦ on the turn made no difference, but the 7♥ on the river gave lulilla the full house. Josrocky had to accept second place and $1,455.00.

Lulilla of Spain won this week's Women's Sunday tournament, and she was awarded $1,983.65 for the victory. Congratulations!
