Victory and $3K for ProXimaVez of Austria in Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgWe've said it before. The Women's Sunday continues to grow. And as we enter the last month of 2011, the women of PokerStars came out in great numbers to smash the weekly guarantee and show their ever-increasing force as part of the online poker world.

Meanwhile, the promotions from PokerStars Women were a strong attraction this week, as the PokerStars 10th Anniversary celebrations roll on. Not only did PokerStars have its unbelievably successful World Record tournament today, with 200,000 players and a $250,000 prize pool, but the PokerStars Women had its own specials. All women who played in this week's Women's Sunday received an $11 ticket to play in next week's Sunday Storm Special that will boast of a $1 million guarantee. Next week, the final tablists in the Women's Sunday receive $215 tickets to the 10th Anniversary $10 million Sunday Million on December 18!

There's more, so check out the Women's Sunday page for all of the details. It's an exciting way to work our way to the end of 2011.

Meanwhile, back to today's Women's Sunday. The final numbers were:

Total players: 320
Prize pool: $16,000.00
Paid finishers: 54

While many Team Pros were on their way to the EPT Prague today, several of them made it into our big Women's Sunday field. The first one to unfortunately exit early was Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome of Canada, who was preparing to host the final table of the World Record tournament.

Next on the list of eliminations was Team Pro Ana Marquez of Spain, who exited in 177th place. And fellow Team Pro Liv Boeree of the UK followed in short order in 154th place.

The unfortunate bubble player today was Traxa07 of Germany, whose elimination in 55th place made way for the final 54 players to be paid for their efforts today, and ~yAAslex~ was the first to cash for $80.00.

Play moved quickly, as the final two tables were in action prior to the three-hour mark of the tournament, and hand-for-hand play quickly led to a huge hand. It started with cobylang moving all-in from early position with A♦J♣. Tweeeety called all-in from the small blind with 8♣8♦, and ProXimaVez called both players from the big blind with A♥K♠. The board came T♦9♠5♦4♥3♦, which gave the side pot to ProXimaVez and the main pot to Tweeeety. Cobylang became the tenth place finisher with $208.00.

Mona58 & Janilein1 battle for chip lead

The final table was set earlier than in most weeks, in Level 17 with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante. The starting stacks were:

Seat 1: Golddigga88 (119,458 in chips)
Seat 2: ProXimaVez (94,224 in chips)
Seat 3: Tweeeety (115,200 in chips)
Seat 4: Sammy9936 (29,597 in chips)
Seat 5: sandratrip (121,448 in chips)
Seat 6: Janilein1 (149,517 in chips)
Seat 7: GROMKO-GPS (72,406 in chips)
Seat 8: mona58 (150,354 in chips)
Seat 9: -LENUSIK-P- (107,796 in chips)

The very first hand of play saw big action as Sammy9936 doubled through -LENUSIK-P-, which left the latter ready to make a move on the second hand. It started slowly, though, with Janilein1 and -LENUSIK-P- seeing a flop of A♣Q♦A♦. Janilein1 bet, and -LENUSIK-P- check-raised, which prompted an all-in move from Janilein1 with Q♣Q♥ for the flopped full house. Unknowingly, -LENUSIK-P- called all-in with A♥3♥ and the trip aces, but they couldn't beat a full house on the T♦ turn or 2♠ river. -LENUSIK-P- exited in ninth place with $265.60.

A few hands later, Sammy9936 moved all-in after an initial raise from Tweeeety. Mona58 called with A♥Q♠, Tweeeety folded, and Sammy9936 showed J♠J♥. The race was on until the flop came A♣A♠2♥, and the trip aces held up as the 4♠ and K♦ finished the board. Sammy9936 left in eighth place with $360.00.

ProXimaVez then took a big risk that paid off:

Tweeeety was crippled, though she quadrupled up on the next hand. On the next one, however, Tweeeety moved again for less than 20K chips with A♣9♦, and ProXimaVez called with K♥J♦. The board came 9♠J♥5♣2♠6♥, and the pair of jacks won and elimianted Tweeeety in seventh place with $520.00.

With no time to waste, the very next hand brought much action as well. It began with Janilein1 and Golddigga88 going to see a 2♦K♦5♠ flop. Janilein1 bet, and Golddigga88 check-called for the 8♠ turn card. Another bet from Janilein1 brought a check-raise all-in, and Janilein1 called with A♠4♠ for the spade draw. Golddigga88 had the best hand with K♠J♠ and the pair of kings, but the river dropped the A♦ to give Janilein1 the pair of aces. Golddigga88 was eliminated in sixth place with $680.00.

After the 3.5-hour break, a hand developed that saw sandratrip move all-in preflop, GROMKO-GPS call, and ProXimaVez reraise all-in. GROMKO-GPS called all-in, and the hands were revealed:

ProXimaVez: T♠T♣
sandratrip: A♥K♥

The board came 8♣T♦7♦Q♦9♦ to deliver the set for ProXimaVez, and two players were eliminated. Sandratrip took fifth place and $896.00, and GROMKO-GPS took fourth and $1,280.00.

Three-handed play went on for some time, during which mona58 doubled through Janilein1 twice. Big pots were becoming the norm, and ProXimaVez stayed atop the leaderboard through it all.

Mona58 was on a short stack again and made her push with Q♦8♦. Janilein1 called with A♥9♥, and she made her flush when the board came 2♥6♥6♣7♥Q♠. Mona58 had to leave in third place with $1,680.00.

ProXimaVez in heads-up control

The final two players began their match with these chip counts:

Seat 2: ProXimaVez (704,517 in chips)
Seat 6: Janilein1 (255,483 in chips)

As soon as Janilein1 chipped up the least bit, ProXimaVez put the pressure on, as in this example:

Janilein1 finally made her move and pushed all-in with 3♠2♠, and ProXimaVez called with K♥7♥. The board of 7♠Q♦6♦7♦T♣ brought the trip sevens and easily eliminated Janilein1 of Germany in second place with $2,280.00.

ProXimaVez of Austria won the Women's Sunday and $3,070.40 in cash. Congratulations!
