Amazing Mayzey wins November 4 Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThe first Sunday in November launched a big month of online poker excitement. And when women get jazzed about poker, they show up in large numbers to participate and show support. They could also participate in Double Vision, which offered two Sunday Kickoffs, Warm-Ups, Storms, and Millions. Double the fun, as they say!

November has much more in store for players. The PS Women Live qualifiers are now in full swing to award $3,250 prize packages to the Ladies Event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January. This weekend's $215 qualifier had 24 players and ended up awarding the package to twinkie. And then the Women's Poker League just announced Team Pro November, wherein Team Pros will participate in many of the league tournaments with bounties on their virtual heads. And for all players, the MicroMillions III series will begin on November 15 and offer 100 micro buy-in tournaments with $5 million in guarantees.

Are you ready for all of that poker action? We know you are.

Today, the Women's Sunday drew a very nice crowd of players for the $10K guaranteed weekly tournament:

Total players: 258
Prize pool: $12,900.00
Paid finishers: 45

The first two hours of action saw the elimination of several of the member of Team PokerStars in the field. Each offered a $50 bounty, and the first two to go were Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander and Team Pro Sandra "Naujoks" Naujoks.

At the two-hour mark, Team Pros Vicky Coren and Ana Marquez were in the top 20 of the 75 remaining players, and Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the chip leader.

As the three-hour point approached, the money bubble burst, and kekacelo was the first player to cash out for $77.40. Talonchick fell from the top spot to the top 20, and then marivanaaa doubled through her. Talonchick then pushed her last chips all-in with A♣T♥ against the 7♥7♦ of aecdragon, and the sevens held up to the 3♥8♥4♠K♥9♣ board. Aecdragon took the $50 bounty, and talonchick left in 36th place with $83.85.

Nearly an hour later, three tables were reduced to two, at which point Ana Marquez was eliminated in 18th place, which was worth $129.00. Soon after, statuskuo doubled through Vicky Coren, leaving the latter with 553 chips. She moved all-in two hands later with 8♠4♥ against the J♣7♥ of minnieskat, and the K♣T♦K♦T♠6♥ board sent Coren out in 16th place with $129.00, while minnieskat took the $50 bounty.

The 11th place elimination of rosemarie209 about 15 minutes into the next hour, hand-for-hand play ensued. It didn't take long before the bubble burst. Rotarota905 raised UTG, and Mayzey reraised. Rotarota905 pushed all-in with 9♥9♠, and Mayzey called with K♣T♦. The board of 2♦4♠Q♠6♦K♠ rivered top pair for Mayzey, eliminating rotarota905 in tenth place with $193.50.

Make way for chip leader Mayzey

A few hands into the action, marivanaaa pushed her short stack all-in with A♠Q♠, and original raiser anayat called with K♥8♥. The board came 5♣9♦5♥K♦2♣ gave anayat two pair, and marivanaaa had to leave quickly in ninth place with $225.75.

Mokuseda doubled through anayat, and tenteli19 doubled through Mayzey. On the very next hand, veruda02 also doubled through Mayzey, reducing the latter's lead. Eight hands later, anayat doubled through Mayzey in this hand:

Meanwhile, minnieskat was down to little more than 7K chips and called all-in from the small blind with T♠9♥. Original raiser anayat showed A♣T♣ for the lead in the hand, and nothing changed as the board produced 3♣Q♦5♥6♣8♦. Minnieskat had to depart in eighth place with $309.60.

Mayzey doubled back through veruda02 to stay in action, and veruda02 pushed all-in on the next hand from the button. Mayzey reraised from the small blind with 8♣8♥ to isolate, which worked, and veruda02 showed A♠6♠. The 7♥Q♠2♦6♥K♥ board allowed the eights to remain the best hand, and veruda02 left in seventh place with $438.60.

Statuskuo was the next player at risk, and she made her move with K♠Q♦ against the A♣K♦ of tenteli19. There were two pair on the 3♣3♥4♣6♥6♦ board, so the ace kicker played to eliminate sstatuskuo in sixth place with $567.60.

Fullhouselol doubled through anayat, and Mayzey took a 131K pot from anayat to extend her lead once again. Mokuseda doubled through tenteli19, and the latter doubled through fullhouselol to stay in action.

Tenteli19 moved all-in again, this time with 7♠7♦, but original raiser mokuseda called with K♥K♦, and the kings held up on the 3♣4♥4♣J♣3♦ board to send tenteli19 home in fifth place with $735.30.

A few hands later, mokuseda put herself at risk, pushing for 95,720 chips with T♦T♥. It looked good for a double-up when Mayzey called with 5♥5♠, and the 9♦2♠A♣ flop changed nothing. The J♥ on the turn kept the tens in the lead, but the 5♣ on the river gave Mayzey the set and eliminated mokuseda in fourth place with $1,064.25.

Anayat doubled through Mayzey during three-handed play to stay alive. And then it was fullhouselol who went up against Mayzey. Fullhouselol moved all-in for 271,490 chips with Q♥Q♠, and original raiser Mayzey called with J♦J♥. The flop of 5♦J♠2♥ again made the set for Mayzey, and the T♣ turn and 9♥ river finished the hand with fullhouselol out in third place with $1,419.00.

Four hands for the win

The heads-up match started with these chip counts:

Seat 2: anayat (158,144 in chips)
Seat 6: Mayzey (615,856 in chips)

And it only took four hands to decide the match. That fourth hand started with a raise from Mayzey and all-in reraised from anayat. Mayzey called with A♦9♦, and anayat was the clear underdog with A♣8♦. The dealer gave them 9♠2♣7♠8♥9♣, and trip nines solidified a second place finish for anayat, which was worth $1,870.50.

Mayzey went from initial table chip leader to one of the short stacks, and she rose back to the lead and won the tournament. She also took home $2,496.15 to go with the title. Congrats!
