FlipLeader wins flips and the Women's Sunday for nearly $3K

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThe countdown is on as the Women's Sunday approaches its first birthday. On March 25, what started as an experiment will celebrate its growth into the premiere online women's poker tournament in the world, and we cannot wait to get the party started!

That party is already in motion with our Flickr birthday photo competition, which looks to award the best celebratory photos with $55 Women's Sunday seats and a $215 Sunday Million seat to the overall winner. Keep your eyes on this blog space for more exciting news to come, including freerolls, a web chat with your favorite female Team PokerStars Pros, and a very special March 25 Women's Sunday tournament.

Today, we had another Women's Sunday with a fabulous turnout, as shown by the registration numbers here:

Total players: 310
Prize pool: $15,500.00
Paid finishers: 45

Of the players in the field with the PokerStars logo next to their names, Team Pro Ana Marquez was the first one to be eliminated. Her opponent was awarded the $50 bounty for the elimination in the first hour of play.

Later in the tournament Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome exited in 131st place, and Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was fairly close behind in 119th place.

The money bubble burst in the third hour of play, and PEGGASISS became the first one to cash for $93.00 today in 45th place. Payouts increased as the field decreased, and there were only two tables left as the three-hour mark approached.

After playerrr92 left in 12th place, a big hand developed that led directly to the final table. GanatodoAA was on a very short stack and pushed all-in for 6,208 with A♦7♣, and 7mango then moved all-in for 64,852 with A♣6♠. Lolas_mamma then called both all-ins from the small blind with Q♦Q♥. The board of 4♥2♥6♥8♥Q♣ gave Lolas_mamma the flush and eliminated ganatodoAA in 11th place and 7mango in tenth, each winning $232.50.

Lolas_mamma manages a starting chip lead

Toward the end of Level 18, with blinds of 2,000/4,000 and a 400 ante, the final nine players started action with these chip stacks:

Seat 1: Xenapoker (31,768 in chips)
Seat 2: Lolas_mamma (170,152 in chips)
Seat 3: fournz (156,500 in chips)
Seat 4: FlipLeader (154,638 in chips)
Seat 5: carrie125 (154,406 in chips)
Seat 6: NLVixen (90,648 in chips)
Seat 7: Vitz25 (85,062 in chips)
Seat 8: cep27 (51,816 in chips)
Seat 9: Fish4Them (35,010 in chips)

The shorter stacks had some great opportunities to double early, and they did just that. Xenapoker did it through fournz, while cep27 doubled through NLVixen and then again through carrie125. Fish4Them doubled once through FlipLeader and again through carrie125.

With carrie125 as the new short stack holding only 1,054 chips, she moved all-in preflop with J♣4♣. NLVixen called, and when Vitz25 raised, NLVixen called that as well. The flop came 7♥Q♠T♥, and NLVixen bet. Vitz25 called all-in with K♣Q♣ for top pair, and NLVixen called with K♥T♣ for middle pair. But the T♦ on the turn made trips for NLVixen, and the 8♠ on the river ended the hand. Carrie125 left in ninth place with $271.25, and Vitz25 took eighth place and $372.00.

FlipLeader doubled through Fish4Them to regain an earlier lead, and the latter moved all-in a few hands later. The hand actually started with cep27 pushing all-in from the small blind with 7♣6♣, and Fish4Them called all-in with K♥Q♦. The board came 9♠6♥5♥T♣A♦ and gave cep27 the pair of sixes, and Fish4Them was ousted in seventh place with $527.00.

NLVixen doubled through FlipLeader to stay in action, and Xenapoker did the same through Lolas_mamma. But Xenapoker was ready to move again soon after. It started innocently enough, with FlipLeader limping and Xenapoker checking her big blind. The flop came 8♦2♦9♦, and a bet and raise led to Xenapoker calling all-in with 9♥2♣ for two pair, but FlipLeader showed 9♣8♣ for the better two pair. The 6♣ turn and A♦ river finished the hand with Xenapoker out in sixth place with $682.00.

Double-ups galore

More double-ups came when fournz doubled through cep27 and Lolas_mamma doubled through fournz. Cep27 then doubled through Lolas_mamma, who then did the same again through fournz. FlipLeader then got in on the action and doubled through Lolas_mamma, but the latter stayed alive with another big pot and then a double through cep27.

Fournz then made a move with A♠T♦, and FlipLeader reraised all-in from the button to isolate, which worked. FlipLeader showed A♦J♠, and though the first four cards on the board came 6♣Q♠A♥T♠ to give fournz two pair, the K♠ on the turn provided the straight for FlipLeader. Fournz exited in fifth place with $883.50.

Cep27 was the next player at risk, and she moved with A♠J♠. Lolas_mamma was along for the ride with Q♠T♠, and the 5♦2♥K♦J♦A♥ gave her a straight. Cep27 had to leave in fourth place with $1,278.75.

NLVixen made her move with K♦J♣, and FlipLeader called with A♦9♠. The board of 6♥8♦Q♣T♥J♦ gave FlipLeader the straight, and NLVixen was eliminated in third place with $1,705.00.

Heads-up is all action

Seat 2: Lolas_mamma (307546 in chips)
Seat 4: FlipLeader (622454 in chips)

The fifth hand saw a move from Lolas_mamma that nearly evened the stacks:

Only a few rounds later, though, FlipLeader doubled back through with pocket jacks over A-T. That left Lolas_mamma with less than 10K in chips and all-in with her next big blind holding 9♣5♠. FlipLeader had J♥2♥ and only improved on the 8♦7♠4♣2♣T♦ board. Lolas_mamma had to settle for second place and $2,247.50.

FlipLeader of Hungary won $2,999.25 and the Women's Sunday title. Congratulations!
