Half Price blast for ttoblass winning Women's Sunday for $2,733.13

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThe Women's Sunday is usually priced at a $55 buy-in, but we recognize that a limited number of players can afford that on a weekly basis. It's the reason we have such low buy-in satellites all week and offer the occasional freerolls; most players want to compete in the big Sunday event but can't risk $55 of their bankrolls to do it.

When the idea of the PokerStars Half Price Sunday came along, we jumped at the chance to participate and allow players the chance at our weekly $10K guarantee for half the price. And players were excited to get in on the action for only $27.50. We also offered some freerolls throughout the week, through which eight players won their seats at no cost. Sales are always fun, especially when it allows so many people the chance to play one of the best and most exciting tournaments on the Internet!

Speaking of which, today's Half Price Women's Sunday had a great turnout:

Total players: 583
Prize pool: $14,575.00
Paid finishers: 90

Of the players representing PokerStars and offering their usual $50 bounties, Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was the first to depart in 380th place. Team PokerStars Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome went strong into the next hour but was ultimately eliminated in 200th place.

Meanwhile, we should note that two other players who normally grace the tables of the Women's Sunday were busy at the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Series. Team Pro Vivian Im made it to 13th place in the Main Event, and fellow Team Pro Celina Lin made the final table. Read more and follow along with the updates on Monday by starting with this recap.

More than four hours into the Women's Sunday, players were into the money and a few of them were moving toward the last few tables of the night. The 11th place elimination of Elena Kulema just before the five-hour mark made it hand-for-hand to determine the final table. Soon after, fa2004 moved all-in UTG with A♠7♠, and Aline Lob called from the small blind with A♥Q♣. The board came 3♣6♠2♠3♥8♥ and eliminated fa2004 in tenth place with $160.32.

Aline Lob leads final table

The final table was then set in Level 23, with blinds of 3,500/7,000 and a 700 ante. Players' chip stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: Nakomata (143,632 in chips)
Seat 2: silvitaeard (131,896 in chips)
Seat 3: SummerLove X (283,824 in chips)
Seat 4: imminista (171,390 in chips)
Seat 5: ttoblass (111,523 in chips)
Seat 6: Aline Lob (355,111 in chips)
Seat 7: Princesa (281,278 in chips)
Seat 8: donotXme (141,522 in chips)
Seat 9: fraurabid (128,824 in chips)

It only took a few hands to see big action, and it started with a double of fraurabid through SummerLove X. But the latter made a comeback soon after. When imminista raised all-in UTG for 107,880 chips, SummerLove X called from the big blind with A♦7♥. Imminista showed 6♠6♥, and the race was on until the first card of the 7♣T♣T♠ flop paired SummerLove X. The 3♦ turn and 4♥ river ended the hand with imminista out in ninth place for $205.50.

Last week's champion was going for a run at a back-to-back title, but donotXme didn't have quite the stack with which to make that happen. When Princesa raised from the button, donotXme made her move with A♦3♠ from the small blind. Princesa called with K♣Q♥ and hit the 4♣Q♦8♠2♣7♣ board for the pair of queens. DonotXme was eliminated in eighth place with $327.93, a fine run for two final tables in two weeks.

The very next hand started with an UTG raise from SummerLove X. Nakomata reraised all-in with A♦K♣ from the small blind, and SummerLove X called with 9♥8♥. The flop came 7♣8♦6♣ to make the straight, and the 5♥ turn changed nothing. The T♠ only made it a higher straight for SummerLove X, and Nakomata had to leave in seventh place with $473.68.

A few double-ups changed the nature of the six-handed table, as ttoblass doubled through Princesa and silvitaeard did the same through fraurabid. Princesa then doubled through SummerLoveX in this massive pot:

Fraurabid was down to less than 70K in chips and made the push with A♥3♣. SummerLove X called with J♣6♣ from the big blind and hit the flop of the 9♦6♥5♦Q♣T♠ board. Fraurabid exited in sixth place with $619.43.

When silvitaeard doubled through SummerLove X, the latter was feeling the need to move. The all-in move came with A♦T♠, but original raiser Princesa happened to be able to call with A♣Q♠. The board of 4♠Q♦3♦5♦Q♣ only improved Princesa to trip queens and eliminated SummerLove X in fifth place with $765.18.

Aline Lob was the next player at risk. The hand started with a battle of the blinds, though, as Aline Lob raised from the small blind and Princesa called from the big. The K♠Q♠9♣ flop prompted a bet from Aline Lob and raise from Princesa. Aline Lob reraised all-in with A♠A♦ for the overpair, and Princesa called with 9♠6♠ for the flush draw and bottom pair. The 5♠ on the turn made that spade flush for Princesa, and the T♥ on the river finished the hand with Aline Lob out in fourth place with $1,093.12.

Three-handed play was dominated mostly by Princesa, but shorter-stacked ttoblass did make a comeback to double through Princesa twice. Silvitaeard doubled through Princesa, but she doubled back through silvitaeard. Ttoblass doubled through silvitaeard, who then did it through Princesa twice.

Again, silvitaeard made a move, that time with K♦4♦, and ttoblass called with A♦7♣. The board of T♥Q♥5♥4♣7♠ paired silvitaeard on the turn but gave a pair of sevens to ttoblass on the river. Silvitaeard left in third place with $1,457.50.

Aggressive heads-up match

The two remaining players began their battle with these counts:

Seat 5: ttoblass (966,128 in chips)
Seat 7: Princesa (782,872 in chips)

The two fought until Princesa evened the stacks, but it was then that ttoblass knew she needed to stay strong. Ttoblass pushed until Princesa was down to less than 500K. At that point, ttoblass raised, and Princesa reraised all-in with Q♦J♦. Ttoblass called with K♣2♦ and caught the deuce on the 3♦6♥2♠ flop. The K♦ on the turn gave ttoblass two pair, and the 4♣ ended the tournament. Veronica "Princesa" Dabul was eliminated in second place with $1,967.62.
