More than luck gives damnluckyy the July 15 Women's Sunday win
There is a lot happening for women on PokerStars these days. In addition to tournaments like this, the big promotion is for PS Women Live in Barcelona. Players have the chance to win a €2,000 prize package to EPT Barcelona for the live ladies-only tournament in August. Satellites run all week leading up to the Sunday package giveaways.
The second installment of MicroMillions is also running right now. Players have the chance to compete for big guarantees and prize pools for micro-level buy-ins. Action runs through next weekend, and every player has the chance to satellite in to any event for pennies. Bankroll-changing opportunities await!
And, of course, we have today's Women's Sunday. The final registration numbers were exactly the same as last week:
Total players: 207
Prize pool: $10,350.00
Paid finishers: 36
After a few deep runs in the last month, Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome exited this week's tournament in the first hour. Meanwhile, the two-hour mark passed with Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander in strong position in the top half of the field of remaining players.
Sjlot took some hits and sat at the low end of the chip counts as the money bubble approached. It did burst when luckyno75 exited in 37th place, though, and Purple_Ann3 became the first player to cash for $77.62. Meanwhile, Sjlot hung on to cash in 33rd place for that same amount.
Play moved past the three-hour mark and toward the final table bubble. That issue was solved when A_FT_2004 moved all-in preflop with A♠8♣, and dasultanz called from the button with K♥K♣. The board of 5♦9♠A♥A♦K♦ gave dasultanz a full house, and A_FT_2004 had to leave in tenth place with $165.60.
The final table began with these chip counts:
Seat 1: marus005 (24,773 in chips)
Seat 2: ITakeChop (16,321 in chips)
Seat 3: u_taranova (59,175 in chips)
Seat 4: Buska007 (73,140 in chips)
Seat 5: fawn0 (54,235 in chips)
Seat 6: 1989masha (39,846 in chips)
Seat 7: damnluckyy (97,758 in chips)
Seat 8: dasultanz (153,620 in chips)
Seat 9: CheldeHareh (102,132 in chips)
The first big hand came on the third of the final table, though it started innocently enough with a raise from marus005, reraise from Buska007, and call. The flop came 4♣2♦5♥, and marus005 bet all-in. Buska007 called with 8♣8♦, and that pair was good against the A♣Q♠ of marus005. The J♥ turn and T♦ river ended the hand with marus005 out in ninth place with $196.65.
The action heated up when CheldeHareh got involved in several big hands, the following one of significance that put her far ahead of the crew:
ITakeChop was ready to take on a raise from CheldeHareh. The all-in move was made with a short stack of 11,221 chips and A♦Q♣, and CheldeHareh was behind with A♠8♣. But the board came J♥9♦8♠5♣A♣ to give CheldeHareh two pair, and ITakeChop had to take eighth place and $258.75.
1989masha doubled through u_taranova, and it didn't take long for the two to battle again. They started with a raised flop of 3♦2♥5♦, and u_taranova made the push. 1989masha called with 8♠8♣, while u_taranova showed a bit of trouble with 9♥8♥. The 4♦ and 4♥ finished the board and sent u_taranova out in seventh place with $362.25.
And then damnluckyy found the right hand with which to double into the lead:
ChildeHareh couldn't recover and finally pushed all-in with J♠J♥. 1989masha called with A♠K♣ and hit the flop of K♥Q♥5♠. The 2♥ and 5♦ ended the hand with CheldeHareh out in sixth place with $465.75.
Dasultanz doubled through damnluckyy to regain a little lost ground, and short-stacked fawn0 doubled through damnluckyy as well.
Fawn0 needed another double, though, and took her chances with A♠8♦ preflop. Damnluckyy reraised to isolate, which worked, and showed 8♥8♠. The board of J♥6♣K♣T♠4♥ was free of aces and sent fawn0 home in fifth place with $600.30.
Dasultanz was the next to move, and she did it preflop for 28,690 chips. But 1989masha called, as did original raiser damnluckyy. The two players checked the 9♦5♥7♥ flop, the 8♣ turn, and even the K♥ river. 1989masha then showed K♠T♠ for top pair, and both other players mucked their hands. Dasultanz left in fourth place with $879.75.
Buska007 struggled but doubled through damnluckyy to stay alive. The time soon came for Buska007 to move again, that time with A♦2♠. Damnluckyy called 30K more with 9♠6♦ from the big blind and caught the river card on the T♥7♠5♦Q♦6♥ board. Buska007 was eliminated in third place with $1,169.55.
Someone's getting lucky
The last two players standing started their match as follows:
Seat 6: 1989masha (124,134 in chips)
Seat 7: damnluckyy (496,866 in chips)
It didn't take long for 1989masha to seek and find an all-in spot. That time came when damnluckyy actually moved all-in as the first to act, and 1989masha called all-in for just under 100K with Q♠J♦. Damnluckyy had a dominating K♦Q♦, and nothing came on the T♥T♣6♥7♣7♥ board to change that. 1989masha had to accept $1,552.50 for second place.
Damnluckyy of Turkey won the Women's Sunday and $2,116.68 in cash. Congratulations!
