Nice win for nicesttroll in the February 12 Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgIt was just another Sunday in February. Winter raged in many places throughout the world, with cold temperatures keeping players indoors and near a heat source. But for players on PokerStars, it was anything but an ordinary Sunday, as Double Vision took over and offered many players the opportunity to play two Sunday Storm tournaments or two Sunday Millions, among other options.

And the women of PokerStars had their special tournament. As usual, the $55 Women's Sunday offered them the chance to compete against other women in a weekly event that has become a staple on the schedule. Women have the chance to play in the Women's Poker League all week long, as well as in other events set aside for ladies only, but the Women's Sunday is now a tradition that draws in the best of the best.

This week, there was a solid crowd at the tables for the action:

Total players: 301
Prize pool: $15,050.00
Paid finishers: 45

There were three PokerStars players in the field, each with a $50 bounty on her head. Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the first to exit, heading out in 133rd place. Team Pro Liv Boeree was the next to go, out in 79th place in the last minutes of the second hour.

Team Pro Ana Marquez of Spain made a run for the money but eventually exited in 49th place, just before the bubble.

When the bubble burst moments later, Lady Polaris was the first to cash for $90.30, and play continued on until only two tables remained at the three-hour mark. When kassike was eliminated in 11th place about 10 minutes later, hand-for-hand play ensued.

It took several minutes before the deciding hand developed. Bobette1 moved all-in from the button, and nicesttroll reraised all-in to isolate with A♦K♠, which worked. Bobette1 showed K♥Q♥, and the board of A♥Q♣9♥3♣2♠ allowed nicesttroll's hand to remain in the lead. Bobette1 was gone in tenth place with $225.75.

Ink_Cool cruises with final table chip lead-

The final table began in Level 19 with blinds of 2,500/5,000 and a 500 ante. Players' starting stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: xAlyssaxx (115,598 in chips)
Seat 2: stodderkonen (34,218 in chips)
Seat 3: sandrushe (134,145 in chips)
Seat 4: nicesttroll (152,175 in chips)
Seat 5: linda230 (55,792 in chips)
Seat 6: Ink_Cool (223,107 in chips)
Seat 7: IntheMoment (90,897 in chips)
Seat 8: Lenis65 (66,656 in chips)
Seat 9: kowider (30,412 in chips)

On the second hand of action, stodderkonen pushed all-in, and nicesttroll reraised all-in. Everyone else folded, and nicesttroll showed A♦Q♠, which was racing against the 4♦4♥ of stodderkonen. The board came K♣8♥6♦8♦Q♦, and nicesttroll had the two best pair. Last week's Women's Sunday champion, stodderkonen, left this week in ninth place with $263.37.

Kowider doubled through sandrushe, as did linda230. Sandrushe then doubled through nicesttroll but remained the short stack at the table. Kowider doubled again, this time through nicesttroll.

It was sandrushe's turn to move. When nicesttroll raised all-in UTG with A♥7♥, sandrushe called all-in from the big blind with A♣K♦. But the flop brought 5♠7♦4♠ to give nicesttroll top pair, and nothing about the J♥ turn or 3♣ river changed that. Sandrushe was swept away in eighth place with $361.20.

Lenis65 doubled through nicesttroll, and linda230 attempted a double-up as well. Linda230 moved all-in from the big blind with 6♣6♥, and original raiser kowider called with A♦Q♣. The flop of 3♥J♠A♠ gave kowider the advantage, and neither the 2♠ turn nor the 9♣ river made a difference as to the outcome. Linda230 left in seventh place with $511.70.

Former Women's Sunday champion xAlyssaxx, was the next to risk it all, moving all-in UTG with K♣Q♣. Kowider called from the big blind with 9♥9♣, and the board of 5♠A♣6♠2♣T♦ was inconsequential. The nines held up to eliminate xAlyssaxx in sixth place with $662.20.

Nicesttroll doubled through Lenis65, and the latter then moved all-in on the next hand for 5,923 chips. Nicesttroll and IntheMoment limped along to see a T♣Q♥7♣ flop. A bet and call brought the 2♠ turn, and they checked to see the 9♠ river. They both checked again, and nicesttroll showed Q♣6♣ for top pair. IntheMoment lost with A♠J♠, and Lenis65 simply mucked and left in fifth place with $857.85.

Nicesttroll struggles but takes the lead

This double-up for nicesttroll turned things around for her:

IntheMoment was no stranger to Women's Sunday final tables. This one wasn't going as planned, though, and she got involved with nicesttroll to see a A♥J♦2♥ flop. A bet from IntheMoment brought a check-call from nicesttroll and the T♥ on the turn. IntheMoment pushed all-in for little less than 110K with A♠K♦ for top pair, but nicesttroll called with K♠Q♣ for the turned straight. The 4♠ on the river ended the tournament for IntheMoment, who took home $1,241.62 for fourth place.

Kowider was creeping toward the lead but still a few chips behind nicesttroll. The two then tangled as kowider raised preflop, nicesttroll reraised, and kowider moved all-in with 7♦7♣. Nicesttroll called with A♦J♥. The flop of 4♣8♥9♠ was innocent enough, but the J♠ on the turn gave nicesttroll the lead. The 4♦ on the river ended kowider's tournament, with $1,655.50 awarded for third place.

A true heads-up battle

Action started with these counts:

Seat 4: nicesttroll (756,438 in chips)
Seat 6: Ink_Cool (146,562 in chips)

On the second hand of heads-up play, Ink_Cool doubled with A-9 over Q-4, and Ink_Cook continued to climb, nearly evening the chip stacks. However, nicesttroll put Ink_Cool to the test on several occasions, once garnering a 348K pot from the aggression, and regained the lead.

Ink_Cool finally risked it all with A♠3♣, but nicesttroll just so happened to have A♥4♣. And the board of J♥5♠3♥2♥6♠ gave nicesttroll the six-high straight, leaving Ink_Cool out in second place with $2,182.25.

Nicesttroll of Gibraltar won this week's Women's Sunday and $2,912.29. Congratulations!
