Not bad for Mr.Superbad, winner of April 15 Women's Sunday

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThe middle of April brought all types of excitement for women on PokerStars. Not only were satellites up and running for the first of the May SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) events, but players were seeking their final chances to qualify for a €2,500 PS Women Live prize package to Monte Carlo. With the event scheduled to begin April 29, time was running out!

Meanwhile, there were big tournaments. The $11 Sunday Storm was hosting its anniversary tournament with a $1 million guarantee, and our own Women's Sunday was gearing up to be another great event. When registration closed, the $10K guarantee was - as usual - blown right out of the water with an extra few thousand dollars in the prize pool.

Here were the final tournament numbers for the Women's Sunday

Total players: 263
Prize pool: $13,150.00
Paid finishers: 45

There were several members of the PokerStars crew in action today, each with a $50 bounty hanging over her head. And within the first hour, Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander found herself the victim of a bounty hunter in the first hour of play. A bit later, Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome experienced the same fate, exiting in 186th place. And Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst stayed in a bit longer but hit the rail in 154th place.

That left the field wide open with the $50 bounties gone. At the three-hour mark, the field was reduced from three tables to two when syzlar was ousted in 19th place. Over the course of the next half hour, players like Leyla127 and CunciPoker were denied chances to see the Women's Sunday final table again.

After the 11th elimination of sistar8, hand-for-hand play began. Shortly after the 3.5-hour break, zhanna1006 made her all-in push with 9♣9♦, and original raiser Mr.Superbad called with A♣Q♣. The board came 5♠Q♠2♥T♣K♥, and the queens sent zhanna1006 out in tenth place with $197.25.

GGalinaVita leads final table

In the beginning of Level 20, with blinds at 3,000/6,000 and a 700 ante, the final table was set as follows:

Seat 1: oLive_oiL07 (48,988 in chips)
Seat 2: Mr.Superbad (143,705 in chips)
Seat 3: drkamikaze1 (69,553 in chips)
Seat 4: tlt-BES (84,290 in chips)
Seat 5: 3aMa3aH (29,750 in chips)
Seat 6: RaBBiiTGiiRL (50,179 in chips)
Seat 7: GGalinaVita (193,737 in chips)
Seat 8: durrr085 (90,261 in chips)
Seat 9: flip.h8er (78,537 in chips)

It didn't take long for short-stacked 3aMa3aH to move all-in. She did it from middle position for her last 17,250 chips, and durrr085 and flip.h8er both called from the blinds. They checked down the board as it showed A♠3♦J♠3♥3♠, and durrr085 turned over 8♠8♥ for the full house. Both other players mucked, and 3aMa3aH headed out in ninth place with $230.12.

Drkamikaze1 doubled through GGalinaVita in a big hand to take over the lead, but Mr.Superbad was close behind.

GGalinaVita did step in to grab more chips soon, though. It happened when RaBBiiTGiiRL pushed all-in from the button with A♠K♥, and GGalinaVita reraised all-in from the small blind with T♣T♦. Durrr085 folded her big blind, and the race was on. But the board only produced 2♣J♠3♦J♣5♥ and allowed the tens to turn into two pair. RaBBiiTGiiRL was forced to leave in eighth place with $315.60.

Mr.Superbad is super good

Another of the original short stacks, oLive_oiL07, was down to less than 5K chips and called all-in from the big blind after Mr.Superbad raised from UTG. Mr.Superbad showed 8♦8♥, which dominated the 4♥5♦ of oLive_oiL07. The board blanked with Q♠7♠9♥J♠3♣, and the eights held up to send oLive_oiL07 out in seventh place with $447.10.

Two hands later, Mr.Superbad battled with GGalinaVita after the latter's initial raise. When Mr.Superbad pushed all-in, GGalinaVita called with K♦K♥, but Mr.Superbad showed A♠A♣. The board of 2♥8♦4♠3♦2♦ changed nothing, and former chip leader GGalinaVita exited in sixth place with $578.60.

Mr.Superbad then got involved with flip.h8er to see a raised flop of 5♣A♠7♠. Flip.h8er moved all-in for 4,887 chips with K♠2♠, but Mr.Superbad called quickly with A♥3♦ for top pair. The 6♦ on the turn and 9♣ on the river ended the tournament for flip.h8er, who took home $749.55 for fifth place.

Tlt-BES was very short and pushed her 18,290 chips all-in with J♥T♥, but original raiser Mr.Superbad (who else?) called with A♠9♠. The board came 8♥8♠J♠4♠A♥, but tlt-BES' two pair were no good compared to the spade flush of Mr.Superbad. Tlt-BES finished in fourth place with $1,084.87.

Durrr085 then made a push from the small blind with A♥J♦, and Mr.Superbad called from the big blind with 7♣7♠. The flop of 4♥7♦K♣ gave Mr.Superbad the set of sevens, which held up to the 2♣ turn and J♥ river. Durrr085 left in third place with $1,446.50.

Can Mr.Superbad be stopped?

The final two players began their match with these chip stacks:

Seat 2: Mr.Superbad (629,082 in chips)
Seat 3: drkamikaze1 (159,918 in chips)

Drkamikaze1 tried but couldn't seem to find any good opportunities to chip up. The last hand came down to this:

The A♦J♠ of drkamikaze1 looked good against the Q♥4♦ of Mr.Superbad, but the board came 3♦Q♠T♠4♣Q♦ for a full house. Drkamikaze1 had to accept second place and the $1,906.75 that went with it.

Congrats to Mr.Superbad of Germany for the Women's Sunday win worth $2,544.64!
