September 9 Women's Sunday title and $2,157.58 goes to tktxrf
What's going on in September? There's the obvious change of seasons and weather, kids are back in school, and many holidays and vacations are coming to an end. But what trumps all of that is the World Championship of Online Poker! September is all about WCOOP for PokerStars players.
WCOOP got underway on September 2, and a full week of tournaments is already in the books. It's been exciting so far, but two more weeks of tournaments remain on the schedule. That leaves many more opportunities for every player of every bankroll with the chance to participate. How is that so, when the buy-ins are at least $200? Satellites, friends. They are all over the place for every tournament. Check out all of the details on the WCOOP homepage.
As for the Women's Sunday, it was right on schedule today. And these were the numbers revealed after the 60-minute registration period:
Total players: 211
Prize pool: $10,550.00
Paid finishers: 36
Of the two PokerStars players with the red spades next to their names in the tournament, Team Pro Celina Lin was the first to exit, hitting the rail in the first hour. Moving further toward the money was Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander, but she was then eliminated in 93rd place.
The money bubble burst around the three-hour mark, and Fanny_Flash was the first player to cash for $79.12. Payouts increased and tables decreased, as only two tables remained at the 3.5-hour mark, and it took about 30 minutes to get to hand-for-hand play. It happened when anayat exited in 11th place.
A few minutes later, MILLION@ROSE pushed with A♣J♦ UTG, and Makula 86 reraised all-in to isolate, which worked. Makula 86 shoewd K♦K♣, and that held up to the 2♠9♥4♥4♣3♠ board. MILLION@ROSE left in tenth place with $168.80.
Tktxrf leads final nine
The final table began with these players and their corresponding stacks:
Seat 1: LobitaHot (21,204 in chips)
Seat 2: Makula 86 (103,807 in chips)
Seat 3: rrweedrr (20,000 in chips)
Seat 4: sofi*401 (81,781 in chips)
Seat 5: lololboom (35,356 in chips)
Seat 6: HUSTLheR0 (23,084 in chips)
Seat 7: tktxrf (189,557 in chips)
Seat 8: Lourdes2007 (34,687 in chips)
Seat 9: nani13103 (123,524 in chips)
Short-stacked rrweedrr doubled up on the first hand through tktxrf. Shortly after, Lourdes2007 was ready to risk it all and moved all-in from early position. LobitaHot called all-in from middle position with A♥J♠, and Lourdes2007 showed A♦J♦. The board delivered 7♦2♥6♥2♦5♦ and rivered the flush for Lourdes2007, and LobitaHot had to leave in ninth place with a bad beat story and $200.45.
On the very next hand, lololboom moved all-in from the button, and tktxrf called 35,456 more from the big blind with Q♥9♦. Lololboom showed a dominating K♥Q♣, and the double-up looked favorable as the flop came 3♥6♣A♠. But the 9♣ hit hard on the river and gave tktxrf the advantage. The pair of nines held through the 5♠ on the river and eliminated lololboom in eighth place with $263.75.
Rrweedrr tried for another double by moving all-in from the big blind with A♥J♠. Original raiser Makula 86 called with K♥K♠, and that pair survived the 2♣4♠6♣6♥9♠ board. Rrweedrr departed in seventh place with $369.25.
Lourdes2007 doubled through Makuls 86 to stay in action:
HUSTLEheR0 had been chipped down to little more than 7K in chips and moved them all-in with 9♣7♣. Nani13103 raised with A♣Q♠, and that worked to isolate the two players. The board came 7♦6♣Q♦3♠K♦, and the pair of queens was enough to eliminate HUSTLheR0 in sixth place with $474.75.
Sofi*40 was the next of the shorter stacks to move, and she did it with 50,081 chips and K♣J♦. Tktxrf called with 4♥4♠ and improved to a set on the T♣8♠4♣ flop. The Q♥ turn and J♣ river ended the hand and left sofi*401 out in fifth place with $611.90.
Nani13103 then got involved with tktxrf, and the two went to see a raised flop of 9♣6♦8♦. Nani13103 bet, and tktxrf called. The 7♥ on the turn brought another bet from nani13103, and tktxrf raised. Nani13103 called, and the 4♦ came on the river. Tktxrf led out with a bet, and nani13103 check-called all-in with A♦9♠ for top pair. But tktxrf showed J♥T♠ for the turned straight, and nani13103 had to leave in fourth place with $896.75.
Lourdes2007 and Makula 86 battled again during three-handed play. Makula 86 raised as the first to act, and Lourdes2007 reraised all-in for nearly 50K chips from the big blind. Makula 86 called with K♦Q♠, and Lourdes2007 showed 4♦4♠ for the race. The flop of 7♥J♦8♣ allowed the fours to stay in the lead, and the 7♣ on the turn didn't change the leader in the hand. But the K♣ came on the river to give Makula 86 the better two pair, and Lourdes2007 left in third place with $1,192.15.
No clear leader going into heads-up
The final two players began their battle with these chip counts:
Seat 2: Makula 86 (271,848 in chips)
Seat 7: tktxrf (361,152 in chips)
It took only 14 hands. No big chip swings happened during that time, but they got involved in a big hand that would be the deciding one. Makula 86 started it off with a preflop raise, and tktxrf called. The flop came 9♦Q♣9♣, and both players checked. The J♣ on the turn prompted Makula 86 to bet, and tktxrf check-raised. Makula 86 called, and the 8♦ then came on the river. Tktxrf bet all-in, and Makula 86 called all-in for her tournament life with A♦T♣ for the queen-high straight. But tktxrf had 4♣3♣ for the flush, and that left Makula 86 out in second place with $1,582.50.
Tktxrf of Russia won the Women's Sunday tournament and $2,157.58. Congrats!
