ShowMustG00n wins Women's Sunday after second place last week

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThis is the time of year that many people plan their vacations. They spend holiday in countries like Greece and Italy, they enjoy the beaches of Cannes or Barcelona. So, for poker fans, why not try to win that trip to Barcelona and play poker at a beach resort in one of the most beautiful cities in the world?

The PokerStars Women Live satellites are well underway, and players who win the Sunday qualifiers receive €2,000 prize packages, enough for three nights at the Hotel Arts Barcelona, travel, and tournament entry. And players can compete all week long to win seats to qualifiers for as low as €2.20. Check out the schedule!

It's never too early to start planning for Barcelona and the EPT festivities that will be hosted there in August. We hope to see you there!

The Women's Sunday players today were fewer in number than normal:

Total players: 182
Prize pool: $10,000.00
Paid finishers: 27

The overlay in the event today made for a nice gift to those who did participate, as extra money in the prize pool is always welcome.

One of the two pros in the field today, Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander, played for awhile before running into trouble and exiting in 110th place. Still going strong was Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome, who just made the final table in last week's event and continued on through the first few hours today.

The money bubble burst with ellinoiss in the unfortunate position of 28th place, and inesich became the first player to cash for $100 in 27th place. And finally, just a bit before the four-hour mark, thepianogirl exited in tenth place for $175.00.

Big hands were developing early, and that soon led to an all-in move from Bjørn Terje for little more than 30K chips. Original raiser ShowMustG00n was there with A♠J♠, and Bjørn Terje showed 6♦6♣ for the race. The board came Q♥4♥T♦K♣2♦ to give ShowMustG00n the straight, and Bjørn Terje had to leave in ninth place with $200.00.

From there, it didn't take long for diosa34 to risk her stack of 9,746 chips with A♠T♦ from early position. Minnieskat then reraised all-in for 18,090 with 9♠9♥, and Lisbe69 called all-in for 13,286 chips with Q♦Q♣. The board came 6♠5♦7♥Q♥6♥ to give Lisbe69 the full house and the entire pot. Diosa34 couldn't make a hand and left in eighth place with $300.00.

Three hands later, minnieskat pushed her 2,754-chip short stack all-in with Q♦6♦, and Lisbe69 called with A♦Q♠. The board of 2♦T♣Q♥8♦3♥ eliminated minnieskat in seventh place with $400.00.

The very next hand saw talonchick get involved from the big blind with locbich88 to see a raised flop of 9♣5♦3♥. Talonchick then moved all-in with Q♠5♠ for middle pair, and locbich88 called with Q♣3♣ for bottom pair. The 7♣ on the turn gave locbich88 the flush draw, which got there on the J♣ river. Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome had to leave in sixth place with $500.00.

As lochbich88 climbed the leaderboard into a solid first place, ShowMustG00n made a big move and doubled through here:

Another player working a short stack made the ultimate move, as Lisbe69 pushed with A♦Q♥. .Medicate_~0 called from the big blind with 4♠4♦, and the board of 8♠T♦K♦2♠K♥ was enough to eliminate Lisbe69 in fifth place with $600.00.

The next player at risk was .Medicate_~0, who pushed with K♥9♠, only to find that ShowMustG00n called with K♣[Ts. The board delivered 6♦5♥5♠4♥T♣ to give ShowMustG00n two pair, and .Medicate_~0 exited in fourth place with $875.00.

Then locbich88 risked her stack with A♠6♣, and ShowMustG00n called with K♥7♥. But the flop came 8♦9♣7♠ to give locbich88 the pair of sevens. The 8♥ on the turn kept ShowMustG00n with two pair, and the 4♦ on the river closed out the hand with locbich88 out in third place with $1,175.00.

ShowMustG00n heads-up second week in a row

The final two players started their action with these stacks:

Seat 5: ShowMustG00n (327,377 in chips)
Seat 6: Surg86 (218,623 in chips)

It didn't take long for both to decide they wanted to discuss a potential deal, so they contacted an administrator to pause the tournament. They then agreed that ShowMustG00n should receive $1,950 and Surg86 $1,750.

They resumed the tournament and continued to play for the title. ShowMustG00n still had the lead, but Surg86 did double through to change the game for a moment. But ShowMustG00n doubled back on the very next hand and took that lead back. Surg86 then pushed all-in with 9♦8♣, and showMustG00n called with T♣6♥. The board of T♠3♣J♠4♠A♥ gave ShowMustG00n a pair of tens, and Surg86 took home $1,750.00 for second place.

ShowMustG00n won the tournament after taking second in last week's Women's Sunday. The victory this week came with $1,950.00 in cash.
