T0beR1cH and lady_IG chop July 29 Women's Sunday
This week is going to be interesting. Keep your eyes on this blog space for an announcement regarding a PS Women competition. It involves Pinterest and the PokerStars Mobile app, and it's going to be a fun one! Prizes, freerolls ... you know how we do it. We'll announce the details before August 1.
Speaking of August, there is a little (not really little) event coming up soon, and we're getting awfully excited! The PS Women Live event at EPT Barcelona is just weeks away, and we still have prize packages and seats to give away! Last week, dasultanz earned her €2,000 prize package, and two packages are guaranteed to be awarded in today's qualifier. Next week, we have five seats guaranteed ... And then players will be on their way to the amazing city of Barcelona for poker, fun, and PS Women glory. Will you be there?
Of course, we have the matter of today's Women's Sunday, which is also exciting.
Total players: 207
Prize pool: $10,350.00
Paid finishers: 36
The money bubble burst after the two-hour mark came and went, and Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sljot" Van Brabander was the first player to cash, taking home $77.62 for her 36th place finish. Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome exited shortly after in 30th place for the same payout.
The last two tables were in play as the three-hour mark passed, but it took nearly an hour to reach hand-for-hand play. Finally, it was bullish555 who moved her short stack with 6♥6♠ preflop against the A♦J♣ of funsmiley3. The race took a turn from the start of the A♥T♥K♥A♣3♠ board, and the trip aces eliminated bullish555 in tenth place with $165.60.
All fun and games for funsmiley3
Play got underway with these chip counts at the start of the final table:
Seat 1: .jufofa (78,567 in chips)
Seat 2: aliden22 (72,227 in chips)
Seat 3: keglebillard (29,948 in chips)
Seat 4: amun27 (29,680 in chips)
Seat 5: funsmiley3 (105,324 in chips)
Seat 6: blazeol (82,569 in chips)
Seat 7: lady_IG (97,906 in chips)
Seat 8: u_taranova (98,237 in chips)
Seat 9: t0beR1cH (26,542 in chips)
The first hand of the final table saw t0beR1cH double through lady_IG, but the latter made her comeback two hands later. It started with a raise from aliden22 and all-in reraise from keglebillard. Amun27 then reraised all-in. Lady_Ig went over the top all-in to cover both other all-in players, and aliden22 folded.
The board came 3♦3♣7♣J♥A♣, and lady_IG won the main and side pots, as well as the chip lead. Keglebillard exited in ninth place with $196.65, and emun27 followed in eighth with $258.75.
But lady_IG lost ground. She and funsmiley3 got involved in several hands that left lady_IG as the shortest stack of the remaining seven players. Funsmiley3, on the other hand, secured the chip lead. Lady_IG doubled through aliden22 to stay alive, though. Aliden22 then doubled through funsmiley3.
Aliden22 doubled again, that time through blazeol, leaving the latter with little more than 1K in chips. Those went all-in on the next hand preflop, and lady_IG called from the small blind and u_taranova checked the big blind. They checked the flop of 9♠4♦6♣ and turn of 4♠. The 7♥ on the river prompted a bet from u_taranova and check-call from lady_IG. U-taranova showed 5♥4♣ for the straight, and everyone else mucked. Blazeol left quietly in seventh place with $362.25.
This huge hand for t0beR1cH put her back in contention:
U_taranova was looking to make a move and did so with 5♥5♠ from middle position. But aliden22 woke up with 7♠7♦ from the big blind and called, and nothing about the 6♣4♣4♥8♥8♣ board changed the outcome. U-taranova was out in sixth place with $465.75.
The ever-quiet .jufofa was down to less than 30K in chips and moved all-in with A♣J♣. Funsmiley3 called from the big blind with K♥9♥ but caught the flop of K♦K♣5♠ for trips. And the 5♥ on the turn made that into a full house. The 4♠ on the river ended it for .jufofa, who had to leave in fifth place with $600.30.
T0beR1cH double through funsmiley3 in this big hand:
Funsmiley3 doubled back through t0beR1cH and then through lady_IG. But funsmiley3 moved again with J♥6♦, and lady_IG called with A♥A♠. The board came 5♥4♠2♠K♠6♣, and the aces eliminated funsmiley3 in fourth place with $879.75.
No deal for final three
The final three players paused the tournament to discuss a possible deal, but one player didn't respond to the numbers provided, and action then resumed with no deal in place.
The three continued to play well past the five-hour mark, and chips were exchanged so as to rename the chip leader over and over. Eventually, aliden22 pushed a short stack with J♣T♥ and t0beR1cH called with Q♠T♦. The board blanked with 2♣A♦4♥K♠3♠, and aliden22 was out with the worse kicker in third place, which was worth $1,169.55.
Deal for heads-up players
The last two players standing started action with these chip counts:
Seat 7: lady_IG (237,266 in chips)
Seat 9: t0beR1cH (383,734 in chips)
They then sat out, and it took them quite a few rounds to figure out how to pause the tournament to officially discuss the deal. In fact, they sat out for approximately 20 minutes before a host helped them, at which point they each agreed to take $1,834.59 and play for the title only.
On the second hand back from that break, lady_IG pushed all-in with J♣T♣, and t0beR1cH called with A♠8♠. The board came K♣4♠3♠6♥4♦, and the ace played to eliminate lady_IG in second place.
T0beR1cH of Russia won the title and $1,834.59.
