Thailand's lisaluce tops Women's Sunday field

The month of December is moving us quickly toward holiday celebrations and the start of 2013. While many people are shopping or planning dinners and get-togethers, others are playing on PokerStars. There are only a few more chances left to win a Women's Sunday in 2012, so our female players were at the virtual tables today to get in on that action.

It was also a good day to get in on the PS Women Live qualifier. The tournament had an overlay, which was great for the players who entered, but it was best for balticblonde of the UK, who won her $3,250 prize package to the Ladies Event at the upcoming 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The Bahamas festivities are fast approaching!

As for this week's Women's Sunday with its $10K guarantee, the final numbers were revealed after an hour of late registration:

Total players: 218
Prize pool: $10,900.00
Paid finishers: 36

Of the several members of Team PokerStars in the field, all with $50 bounties on their avatars' heads, Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the first to exit within the first hour of play. Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander wasn't far behind. Team Pro Liv Boeree stayed in action for a while longer, ultimately exiting in 139th place, and fellow Team Pro Vanessa Selbst finished in 72nd place.

Team PokerStars Pro Ana Marquez was struggling as the money bubble approached, and she ended up taking 38th place, just two spots from the money.

The last three tables were reduced to two into the fourth hour of play, and play moved quickly toward the final table. As the fifth hour neared, though, Tweeeety pushed all-in with A♣3♠ against the A♦9♣ of lisaluce and didn't find any help on the Q♦A♥8♥2♠7♣ board. Lisaluce took the pot, and Tweeeety took $174.40 for the tenth place finish.

Julia4 and Lumbada18 lead final nine

Seat 2: Mrs.Hanna (25,705 in chips)
Seat 3: Sylvia_NF (25,048 in chips)
Seat 4: Lumbada18 (78,650 in chips)

Seat 6: lisaluce (148,118 in chips)

Seat 9: 1Margo1 (34,431 in chips)

Lumbada18 was a few chips behind Julia4 at the start of the final table, but a big hand versus lisaluce pushed her to the top of the leaderboard.

1Margo1 doubled through Lumbada18 to stay in action, but then anikey83 tried the same feat. Garolin started the hand with a raise, and Lumbada18 simply called from the small blind. Anikey83 was very short-stacked and called all-in from the big blind with K♥7♠. The flop of A♦9♠5♦ prompted Garolin to bet and Lumbada18 to raise, at which point Garolin folded. Lumbada18 showed A♥Q♦ for top pair, and the 6♥ turn and 2♠ river ended the hand, leaving anikey83 out in ninth place with $207.10.

Sylvia_NF doubled through lisaluce, while Julia4 took a pot from Garolin that allowed the former to climb back into the overall chip lead.

Diosa34 was working a small stack and finally made her move from early position after an UTG raise from lisaluce. Julia4 called, as did Lumbada18 from the big blind. The flop came 4♠J♥T♦, and all three players checked, but the A♥ on the turn brought a bet from lisaluce. Julia4 called, but Lumbada18 folded. The 4♥ on the river saw another bet and call, and lisaluce showed K♥Q♠ for the ace-high straight. Julia4 mucked, as did diosa34, and the latter then exited in eighth place with $272.50.

Action sped up a bit at that point. Mrs.Hanna pushed all-in with J♣J♠, and Lumbada18 called with 9♥9♣, but the board came 6♠9♦2♣K♠3♦ for the set of nines. Mrs.Hanna left the tournament in seventh place with $381.50.

Sylvia_NF moved a few hands later for less than 23K chips with 7♠5♠ from the button. Lisaluce called from the big blind with Q♠T♣ and only improved to a pair of tens on the J♦9♣6♣T♥3♥ board. Sylvia_NF was eliminated in sixth place with $490.50.

Julia4 has lost her lead to lisaluce, and Lumbada18 had climbed into second place. Julia4 then got involved in a hand by starting it with an UTG raise. Lisaluce called, and they saw a flop of Q♠4♠6♥. Julia4 bet, and lisaluce called. The A♥ on the turn prompted another bet from Julia4, but lisaluce raised that time, and Julia4 called. The 3♥ on the river brought a check from Julia4. Lisaluce bet all-in, and Julia4 did call with A♠T♠ for top pair. But lisaluce showed A♣Q♣ for top two pair, and Julia4 had to leave in fifth place with $632.20.

Garolin doubled through Lumbada18 in a key hand that took place as follows:

1Margo1 was the shortest of the four remaining players and pushed all-in UTG with A♣J♦. Lumbada18 and lisaluce both called, but when the T♦2♥7♥ flop brought a bet from lisaluce, Lumbada18 folded. Lisaluce showed T♥8♥ for the flush draw, and the flush happened on the 9♥ turn. The K♠ on the river sent 1Margo1 out in fourth place with $926.50.

Garolin then doubled through lisaluce when A-8 made a flush to beat A-T. That 402K pot put Garolin way atop the leaderboard of the final three players. As play moved forward, lisaluce climbed into a strong second place and then into the lead.

Lumbada18 struggled and finally moved all-in with K♠4♠. Lisaluce reraised all-in, and Garolin called all-in with 9♦9♣. Lisaluce showed A♣5♥, and the board came 7♠J♥8♠Q♥8♥, and the two pair of Garolin more than doubled her up with the third place elimination of Lumbada18 for $1,231.70.

Strong heads-up battle for the win

The final two players started their heads-up match with these counts:

Seat 6: lisaluce (201,224 in chips)
Seat 8: Garolin (452,776 in chips)

It wasn't long before lisaluce risked her stack and scored this flush-over-flush double-up:

Garolin started to recover from that hit, but lisaluce kept up the pressure. The two then got involved to see a raised flop of 4♦2♥3♣. They both checked, and the 5♠ came on the turn. Garolin bet, and lisaluce check-raised all-in. Garolin called all-in with A♠K♠ for the five-high straight, but lisaluce showed 8♣6♦ for the six-high straight. The 2♠ on the river changed nothing, and Garolin accepted second place and the $1,635.00 that went with it.

Lisaluce of Thailand won the Women's Sunday title and $2,229.05. Congrats!
