ZlyKurczak87 zaps October 14 Women's Sunday victory

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgOctober brings a change in temperature and season, and begins to usher in the holidays. It is a time for setting new goals, refreshing attitudes, and preparing to finish the year on a positive note. There are less than three months to make this year the best it can be, in poker and otherwise. We can help with the poker part.

We have your chances to win your way to the PCA. The 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is schedule for its usual January stint in the Bahamas, and players can begin winning their seats online now. Seats for the major PCA tournaments are already underway.

Many of you are interested in the Ladies Event, though. Maybe this article inspired you? Or you can already imagine yourself holding that trophy? Seats for this event begin on October 22, so no matter the reason, you can get in there and begin to win. Keep your eyes on this page for satellite information soon.

Other women were in the Women's Sunday today to grab that title and worry about PCA later. Our final numbers were:

Total players: 237
Prize pool: $11,850.00
Paid finishers: 36

A number of members of Team PokerStars were in action today, each with a $50 bounty on her head but each hoping to win and collect her own bounty. Team SportStars' Fatima Moreira De Melo was the first of the group to exit, however, in the first hour of the tournament. At approximately the two-hour mark, Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree left in 133th place, and Ana Marquez followed in 121st.

Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the last bounty standing, but she lost most of her chips in this hand, one that she tweeted from @talonchick: //www.boomplayer.com/en/poker-hands/Boom/882831_3906DEE195. She was eliminated soon after in 89th place.

As the 3.5-hour mark passed, two tables remained, and the play was intense. Hand-for-hand play didn't begin until about 45 minutes later after the elimination of yoyo070 in 11th place. It didn't take long from there for fournz push with A♥Q♠, but it was original raiser J@n_Florip@ all in with 4♦3♥. The board of 7♦9♠5♠2♣7♠ allowed the ace kicker to play and eliminate J@n_Florip@ in tenth place with $189.60.

Ladeborah leads the pack

The final table began with these players and their corresponding stacks:

Seat 1: TheRedBosem (66,404 in chips)
Seat 2: 1KnowRight (50,495 in chips)
Seat 3: Jungle Ju (33,125 in chips)
Seat 4: fournz (99,375 in chips)
Seat 5: ladeborah (163,605 in chips)
Seat 6: Lexi4Bet (112,744 in chips)
Seat 7: KomissarKsu (42,964 in chips)
Seat 8: ZlyKurczak87 (82,702 in chips)
Seat 9: trout3344 (59,586 in chips)

It didn't take long for short-stacked Jungle Ju to push with A♦9♠, and fournz called with a dominating A♣J♥. The board of 4♦7♠T♣3♦J♦ just increased fournz' lead in the hand, and Jungle Ju had to leave in ninth place with $225.15.

Trout3344 made her move with Q♠Q♣, and 1KnowRight reraised all-in from the button. Original raiser ZlyKurczak87 folded, and trout3344's tournament was on the line against the T♠T♣ of 1KnowRight. But the very first card of the T♥8♦7♣ flop gave 1KnowRight the set, and that hand only increased to a full house on the 8♠ turn. The K♣ river ended the day for trout3344, who took eighth place for $296.25.

KomissarKsu completed a successful double-up through fournz, but KomissarKsu moved again a few hands later. KomissarKsu moved all-in with 4♣4♥, but 1KnowRight called from the big blind with A♣A♥. The 6♦8♠A♠K♦Q♦ only turned the aces into a set, and KomissarKsu had to go in seventh place with $414.75.

ZlyKurczak87 doubled through 1KnowRight, and TheRedBosem did the same through ladeborah.

Fournz had hit a rough patch and chipped down to nearly 30K chips. Fournz pushed with J♠7♠, but ladeborah reraised all-in with A♦K♥. Everyone else folded, and the board produced Q♠7♥4♥6♣A♠, and the rivered aces eliminated fournz in sixth place with $533.25.

This huge double-up by ZlyKurczak87 through Lexi4Bet changed the look of the table:

On the very next hand, TheRedBosem moved all-in from the big blind after Lexi4Bet raised from the button. Lexi4Bet called and showed 9♥9♣, and TheRedBosem was on the line with A♠3♣. The board of Q♣2♠T♠5♥J♠ allowed the nines to stand up, and TheRedBosem departed in fifth place with $687.30.

Soon after, ladeborah raised UTG, and 1KnowRight pushed all-in from the big blind. Ladeborah called with K♥8♦, and 1KnowRight was behind with J♠T♠. The board didn't help anyone with 5♠A♥5♥9♥6♦, so ladeborah's king kicker played to eliminate 1KnowRight in fourth place with $1,007.25.

Ladeborah doubled through Lexi4Bet, but ZlyKurczak87 did the same through ladeborah in a pot worth 410K. ZlyKurczak87 then took a huge pot from Lexi4Bet.

On the next hand, ladeborah pushed her very short stack of 14,082 chips into the middle with A♣J♥. ZlyKurczak87 and Lexi4Bet went along. They checked the 5♦4♣9♣ flop and the Q♠ turn. The Q♦ on the river prompted Lexi4Bet to bet and ZlyKurczak87 to fold. Lexi4Bet showed Q♣8♦ for trip queens, and ladeborah accepted $1,339.05 for the third place finish.

Roller coaster heads-up match

The final two players started heads-up play with these stacks:

Seat 6: Lexi4Bet (212042 in chips)
Seat 8: ZlyKurczak87 (498958 in chips)

On the very first hand, Lexi4Bet doubled through ZlyKurczak87 with pocket threes over A-J. Lexi4Bet started to chip away at her opponent, but ZlyKurczak87 came back with a vengeance. The big double-up for ZlyKurcczak87 was when A-K beat Lexi4Bet's pocket threes, and the former jumped into the lead.

Nine hands later, ZlyKurczak87 put her opponent to the test with an all-in move. Lexi4Bet called all-in with A♠Q♥, and the race was on when ZlyKurczak87 showed A♠Q♥. The board came 7♣8♠5♦3♥4♣, and Lexi4Bet was out in second place with $1,777.50.

ZlyKurczak87 won the Women's Sunday title and $2,423.43 in cash. Congrats!
