idontfold3 tramples Ghost Orchid in 6/9/13 Women's Sunday

How often do you see pocket aces shown down five times in a 25-minute period? I've covered hundreds of these things and can't recall an instance when I've seen them pop up more in such a small number of hands. Aces won four times and were cracked once (yay maths!) as the Women's Sunday played down to a winner. Ultimately it came down to a fierce heads-up battle from which the U.K.'s idontfold3 emerged victorious, earning her first Women's Sunday title and over $2,300.

229 players gathered for this week's Women's Sunday, the prize pool topping out at $11,450. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,341.63.

Blinds were 1,250/2,500 with ten players remaining. After a lengthy spell of hand-for-hand play, two simultaneous all-ins sent us to the final table. On one table, _valitsaki_ picked up A♦Q♥ and open-shoved for 42,000 from UTG. Idontfold3 called from the big blind, her pocket eights holding up to send _valitsaki_ to the rail in tenth. Meanwhile on the other table, grannyfish97 open-shoved for 41,000 with J♥9♥ and ran straight into GOLD_Digga85's K♥K♦. However, grannyfish97 hit an open-ended straight flush draw when the flop fell Q♥T♥2♠. The A♦ on the turn didn't help grannyfish97, but the river 8♠ made her a queen-high straight to double up to 87,000.

GOLD_Digga85 buried in ninth

Grannyfish97's bubble double left GOLD_Digga85 on only 16,000 in chips. They went in on the very first hand of the final table, the action folding to her on the button. ACEyGrey85 folded the small blind, but Ghost Orchid snap-called from the big with A♦A♣. GOLD_Digga95's K♥4♠ was in dire shape and only grew worse on the A♠J♣2♦ flop. The 2♣ on the turn made Ghost Orchid aces full and GOLD_Digga85 hit the rail in ninth place.

Aces, aces, aces!

Moments later, Ghost Orchid opened for a min-raise to 5,000 and short stack 4-Raisha-4 moved all-in for her last 16,782. Ghost Orchid called with K♠J♦ only to watch 4-Rasisha-4 open up A♦A♣. 4-Raisha-4's aces held up to double her stack to 38,000.

On the next deal, idontfold3 opened for 5,000 and 4-Raisha-4 moved in again. Idontfold3 called with 7♣7♠ and incredibly, 4-Raisha-4 showed A♥A♣ again. However, this time they were snapped off by the T♥7♦4♠ flop, idontfold3 hitting a set of sevens. Idontfold3 improved to sevens full when the 4♣ hit the turn and 4-Raisha-4 was suddenly out in eighth place.

The pocket aces kept on coming, evjersen picking up a pair and three-bet shoving for 63,774 from the cutoff. Initial raiser ~K3TULA~ called with A♠J♣ and did not improve, the 6♦5♠4♦2♣T♦ board sealing her seventh-place elimination.

evjersen escapes domination

The action slowed for a few orbits before ManyManyM0re open-shoved for 53,000 from UTG and evjersen reshoved for 118,000 right behind her. Although ManyManyM0re's A♣K♠ had evjersen's A♠Q♣ dominated, evjersen hit top two pair on the A♦Q♥9♠ flop. ManyManyM0re picked up four more outs with the J♣ on the turn, but the river 8♠ was no help and she hit the rail in sixth place.

grannyfish97's aces yield massive double-up

With five players left, evjersen and idontfold3 were tied for the chip lead with 188,000 apiece and grannyfish97 was right behind them with 145,000. The action folded to grannyfish97 in the small blind and she opened for a min-raise to 8,000. Evjersen called and they saw a Q♦4♦3♦ flop. Grannyfish97 led out for 16,000 and evjersen called. The turn came the 5♠ and grannyfish97 checked. Evjersen bet 20,000 and grannyfish97 came in with a raise to 64,000. Evjersen shoved for her reamaining 163,000 and grannyfish97 snap-called, revealing A♠A♦. Evjersen needed help with Q♥T♣ but didn't get it on the river, the 4♠ falling to give grannyfish97 a massive double-up to 291,000.

Evjersen was left with less than ten big blinds but picked up J♥J♠ only a few hands later. She moved in for 39,000 only to get a snap-call from ACEyGrey85 with, you guessed it, A♦A♥. Pocket aces improved their record to 4 out of 5, the board running out 3♣3♦4♣3♠6♥ to end evjersen's run in fifth place.

Ghost Orchid coolers ACEyGrey85

A few minutes later, ACEyGrey85 limped in from the small blind and Ghost Orchid checked her option from the big. ACEyGrey85 led out for 4,000 on the A♦K♣3♣ flop and Ghost Orchid called. The turn came the 9♥ and ACEyGrey85 fired again, making it 8,900 to go. Again, Ghost Orchid called. The river was the 5♥ and ACEyGrey85 bet 18,700. Ghost Orchid shoved for 96,451 and ACEyGrey85 called all-in for 41,000, revealing K♦9♦ for kings up on the turn. However, Ghost Orchid did one better, her A♥5♦ rivering aces up. ACEyGrey85 was on the wrong end of the cooler and was eliminated in fourth place, earning $973.25 for her efforts.

grannyfish97 falls in third

With three to go, grannyfish97 held the chip lead with 294,000, idontfold3 was second with 202,000 and Ghost Orchid was close behind with 191,000. Grannyfish97's stint at the top was cut short, however, when Ghost Orchid four-bet shoved preflop with A♦9♠ and grannyfish97 looked her up with K♦T♥. Ghost Orchid's ace-high held up and she doubled to 290,000 while grannyfish97 fell to 139,000. A few hands later, Ghost Orchid finished her off on a coinflip, her 5♣5♠ holding up against grannyfish97's A♦Q♠. For third place, grannyfish97 took home $1,293.85.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 1: idontfold3 (252,109 in chips)
Seat 4: Ghost Orchid (434,891 in chips)

Idontfold3 quickly turned the tables on this heads-up match. Holding A♥K♦, she six-bet shoved for 223,609 and Ghost Orchid called with a dominated A♦9♠. Idontfold3's hand held up and she doubled to 448,000, leaving Ghost Orchid on 239,000. Ghost Orchid ground back up to 321,000 before reclaiming the chip lead in this hand.

Two hands later, Ghost Orchid five-bet shoved preflop and got idontfold3 to give up her hand, good for a 141,000 pot. Idontfold3 was back down to 249,000, but picked up over 100k in chips when she check-raised all-in on a Q♦8♠5♣ flop and Ghost Orchid folded. The hand left their stacks nearly even, idontfold3 with 352,000 to Ghost Orchid's 335,000.

One massive pot ended it. Idontfold3 five-bet shoved with pocket queens and Ghost Orchid called, but her A♦T♦ could not improve:

Kudos to idontfold3 on her first Women's Sunday title! She banked $2,341.63 for the win while runner-up Ghost Orchid earned $1,717.50.
