Kg7xKg8 denies kry19kry a second Women's Sunday title
As we approach the second half of February, some of the action from the live tournaments has calmed a bit with the end of EPT Deauville and the wind-down of UKIPT Cork. Players can focus more on their online poker tournaments, like our exciting weekly Women's Sunday.
Lately, our writers have focused on some of the familiar names seen in the online tournaments, such as this week's feature on Zinzi "HUSTLheR0" de Silva. As we get to know more of the players who join us each week, we look forward to highlighting more names and getting to know what keeps you coming back to the daily and weekly tournaments featured by PokerStars Women.
For today, let's get to the action! Our $10K guarantee brought a solid crowd of players into the $55 buy-in Women's Sunday, and many of them won their seats through the numerous satellites offered. The 60-minute registration period ultimately resulted in these numbers:
Total players: 235
Prize pool: $11,750.00
Paid finishers: 36
There were two members of Team PokerStars in the field today, both offering $50 bounties for their eliminations. Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the first to exit in 118th place, then there was Team Pro Liv Boeree. After running deep in the UKIPT Cork Main Event, she hopped online to compete in today's Women's Sunday, though she ultimately fell in 64th place.
A bit later, just past the three-hour mark, the money bubble burst to allow Chuimz to become the first of this tournament to cash for $88.12. Action moved quickly from there, with only two tables remaining at 20 minutes past the hour.
It was during that time that several players who were recently in the PS Women news lost their battles for a title today. Kristiine'88 was featured in this article about Women's Sunday final table regulars and finished in 17th place, and Liza_plus_EV just won the Women's Sunday two weeks ago but exited in 15th place. CzaRnaPL exited in 13th place today after winning a Women's Sunday in December, and 12th place finisher coloccini20 was a winner back in 2012 as well. And pkrbadgirl, another of the final table regulars featured here, ended her run in 11th place today.
Then, KOTLYAREVSKA pushed her stack of 26,162 all-in with K♥Q♦ against the T♦9♦ of kry19kry, and the board of 7♦8♥8♦J♣3♣ turned the straight for kry19kry. KOTLYAREVSKA departed in tenth place with $188.00.
Kry19kry aims for second title
The final table began in Level 18, with blinds of 1,250/2,500 and a 250 ante. Players' starting stacks were as follows:
Seat 1: Galo4ka17 (9,024 in chips)
Seat 2: hobi dyalii (47,849 in chips)
Seat 3: kry19kry (268,169 in chips)
Seat 4: eBay Times (18,313 in chips)
Seat 5: natalideroos (10,544 in chips)
Seat 6: chiccc_sthlm (33,568 in chips)
Seat 7: SadTurtleCry (22,813 in chips)
Seat 8: Kg7xKg8 (212,567 in chips)
Seat 9: TJ201014 (82,153 in chips)
It only took until the second hand of the final table to see big action. Kry19kry started the hand with an UTG raise, and Galo4ka17 moved all-in for 6,024 from the small blind. Kry19kry and other caller chiccc_sthlm both called to see the flop of J♠7♠6♠. Chiccc_sthlm bet, and kry19kry check-raised. Chiccc_sthlm called, and the turn came 8♠. A bet and call brought the 6♣ on the river, and kry19kry bet. Chiccc_sthlm called all-in with K♣K♠, and Galo4ka17 showed K♦K♥. But kry19kry had A♠Q♠ for the nut flush, which left Galo4ka17 out in ninth place with $223.25 and chiccc_sthlm out in eighth with $293.75.
Three hands later, another big development started with an all-in button raise from eBay Times for 13,313 chips with 6♦6♠. Natalideroos called all-in from the small blind with 5,544 chips holding A♠4♥, and SadTurtleCry called both players from the big blind with A♦J♥. The flop cmae 3♣T♠Q♦ to give SadTurtleCry the straight draw, and the T♥ on the turn didn't change much. But the K♠ on the river made that straight, eliminating natalideroos in seventh place with $411.25 and eBay Times in sixth with $528.75.
Hobi dyalii doubled through Kg7xKg8, but TJ201014 did the same through hobi dyalii on the very next hand:
Three hands after that, hobi dyalii pushed for 20,545 chips UTG with A♥9♣, and TJ201014 called from the big blind with Q♠J♠. The flop of J♣J♥3♥ made trip jacks for TJ201014, and the 6♦ turn and K♠ river finished the hand. That left hobi dyalii out in fifth place with $681.50.
SadTurtleCry was low but doubled through TJ201014 to stay in the game, though still on a relatively short stack. So it was no surprise to see SadTurtleCry take a chance on A♥9♦ after an all-in initial raise by kry19kry in a battle of the blinds. Kry19kry showed 7♥7♦, and the board of 6♦3♠3♥T♠7♠ only made that into a full house. SadTurtleCry was gone in fourth place with $998.75.
TJ201014 took another chance on the shortest of the three stacks, moving all-in with A♦J♥. Kg7xKg8 showed 5♣5♦, and nothing changed on the p2c]9♣6♥ flop, though the K♣ turn brought a club flush draw. The 5♥ on the river, however, only made a set of fives for Kg7xKh8, and TJ201014 had to leave in third place with $1,327.75.
Can kry19kry win her second 2013 title?
The start of heads-up play showed these chip counts:
Seat 3: kry19kry (475,051 in chips)
Seat 8: Kg7xKg8 (229,949 in chips)
It didn't take long for Kg7xKg8 to dip below the 200K mark and then go in for the double-up, which worked as shown here:
Kg7xKg8 then increased her lead with a pot worth 241K with a river card that helped Q-J beat A-3. Four hands later, Kry19kry pushed all-in with K♦K♣ against the A♣6♥ of Kg7xKg8, and the kings looked good for the double-up after the 9♠7♥J♥ flop. But the A♦ hit on the turn to give Kg7xKg8 the pair of aces, which held up to the 2♠ on the river. January 20th Women's Sunday winner kry19kry had to accept second place this week for $1,762.50.
Kg7xKg8 of Canada took down her first Women's Sunday title and $2,402.98. Congrats!
