Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome wins the Women's Sunday

Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome spent the afternoon on the sun-drenched deck of a boat, sailing around a pristine Canadian lake. But even the pursuit of a little R&R in the great outdoors didn't have to cramp her style. Befitting an online grinder who played much of last year's WCOOP on her phone and iPad, Rowsome brought the latter aboard her vessel this afternoon and late-registered the Women's Sunday. Five-minute breaks were celebrated with a quick dip in the water, and after four hours of play, Rowsome made the final table as the second-shortest stack. She truly hit her rush once play turned short-handed and after a fierce heads-up battle with Kachnicka72o, talonchick at long last got to keep her own bounty, winning her first Women's Sunday title on her ninth trip to the final table.

223 women made up this week's field, creating an $11,150 prize pool. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,280.28. Aside from Rowsome, Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was the only other Red Spade to enter, and saw her $50 bounty claimed with a 95th-place exit.

This final table had an extra bonus. Today marked the kickoff of the Women's WCOOP Step Tickets Giveaway, which continues through Saturday, August 31. Each of today's final nine won a $27 WCOOP Step 2 Ticket in addition to their cash prize. There are still several more chances to scoop up a Step 1 ticket by making the final table of this week's Women's Tuesday, the Women's Daily/Nightly special, or Thursday's $5.50 PLO Women tourney.

With 11 players remaining and the blinds up to 1,500/3,000, Canada's Esther "roxieforu05" Maludzinski put in her last 36,000 with pocket eights and ended up flipping with SpeweyMango's K♥J♣. Although a king hit the flop, roxieforu05 spiked an eight on the turn to eliminate SpeweyMango and double to 74,500. Moments later on the final table bubble, BaDbeaSt3 opened for 6,000 from UTG and both roxieforu05 and crankychick called from the blinds. BaDbeaSt3 and roxieforu05 got the rest of their chips in the middle on a Q♦9♠6♣ flop, roxieforu05 turning up bottom set with 6♠6♦. Her K♣K♦ snapped off, BaDbeaSt3 exited in tenth place while roxieforu05 took a 150k+ stack to the final table.

talonchick doubles, ardura59 busts in ninth

With only eight big blinds left, talonchick didn't have time on her side. Holding 8♣9♣, she open-shoved for 24,400 and Kachnicka72o reshoved on the button to isolate. Kachnicka72o revealed A♥6♣ and the 4♠5♠7♥ flop gave her an open-ended straight draw. However, the 6♦ came on the turn, making talonchick a nine-high straight, good for a double-up to 56,000.

Kachnicka72o ended ardura59's run a short time later. All-in for her last 9,400 with 3♣3♦, she couldn't hold on when Kachnicka72o's A♠Q♦ turned top pair. For ninth place, arduras59 collected $211.85.

Giggy KO's SoxyChandler only to fall in seventh

Finding T♣T♦ under-the-gun, SoxyChandler open-shoved for her last 36,000 and Giggy called all-in for 33,600 with A♥K♣. Giggy hit an ace on the flop, a king on the turn and another ace on the river to boat up and win the 76,500 pot, leaving SoxyChandler on only 2,500 in chips. SoxyChandler moved in two hands later with 9♣5♠, but didn't hit vs. Kachnicka72o's Q♠7♥. For eighth place, SoxyChandler picked up $278.75.

Unfortunately for Giggy, she didn't hold on to those chips for long. In a bit of a cooler, Giggy rivered jacks up and called talonchick's shove only to discover she was actually dead to two outs after the turn:

Giggy was left with less than 1,000 in chips and went out in seventh place two hands later when her Q♥5♥ didn't improve vs. crankychick's A♥9♦.

roxieforu05 dominates kassike

Short-stacked since eight-handed play when she ran her A♦K♦ into crankychick's K♣K♥, kassike scored two double-ups in a row through Kachnicka72o. First, her K♥4♥ flopped top and bottom pair vs. pocket deuces and moments later, her K♦J♥ flopped a jack against 5♥9♦ to take her up to 78,000. Kassike lost back about 25k when she doubled up Mini Guide, her K♣Q♠ falling to A♠3♣, but still hung on with 53,000. However, two hands later, she three-bet shoved with A♣Q♠ in the small blind only to run into roxieforu05's A♠K♥. Kassike did not improve and exited in sixth place, earning $501.75.

Rowsome hits her rush

Mini Guide again staved off elimination, doubling to 104,000 when her J♣9♣ flopped a nine vs. Kachnicka72o's T♠2♠. That left crankychick as the short stack, holding 29,500 with the blinds up to 2,500/5,000. Dealt T♦T♥ UTG, crankychick open-shoved and talonchick called with K♦8♦ in the small blind. Crankychick's tens were good on the Ad]8♣7♥ flop, but talonchick hit the 8♥ on the turn to make trips. The river was the 2♠ and crankychick hit the rail in fifth place, taking home $646.70.

Moments later, Mini Guide four-bet shoved for 95,000 with A♦6♠ and talonchick called with T♥T♣. Pocket tens held on the king-high board and Mini Guilde was eliminated in fourth place, collecting $947.75.

Three's Company

The final three were an experienced bunch, each of them a Women's Sunday final table vet. Roxieforu05 is a four-time final tablist, Kachnicka72o made a runner-up finish in the Women's Sunday 2nd Birthday Special, and talonchick, as previously mentioned, was on her ninth trip here. As three-handed play commenced, talonchick led with 283,000, Kachnicka72o was close behind with 224,000 and roxieforu05 was the short stack with 165,500.

Kachnicka72o chipped up when she called talonchick's 28,000 three-bet from the button, then flatted her 29,800 c-bet on a 9♥9♠4♦ flop. Talonchick checked when the board double-paired on the turn with the 4♥, then folded to Kachnicka72o's 60,000 bet. Kachnicka72o took a slight chip lead with 273k to talonchick's 259k.

Roxieforu05 slipped below 100,000 in chips in a pot she three-bet from the small blind vs. talonchick's button min-raise. Roxieforu05 check-called 18,000 on the 8♣7♠6♥ flop, but folded when talonchick made it 48,000 to go on the 2♥ turn. With the blinds at 3,000/6,000, talonchick raised to 12,000 from the small blind and roxieforu05 jammed her last 17 BB with A♠7♣ from the big. Talonchick snap-called with A♦A♣, ending Roxieforu05's run in third place when the board ran out 6♣9♦9♠8♥8♦.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 3: talonchick (441,198 in chips)
Seat 7: Kachnicka72o (227,802 in chips)

Talonchick took almost a 2 to 1 chip lead into heads-up play, but lost it when Kachnicka72o check-shoved the river on a A♣T♦5♣6♦8♥ board. Talonchick gave up her hand and slipped to 292,000 while Kachnicka72o moved up to 377,000. Talonchick set about rebuilding and was nearly even with her opponent when she picked up pocket fives and opened for 14,000. Kachnicka72o three-bet to 48,000 and they saw a T♠2♠2♣ flop. Kachnicka72o led out for 38,500 and talonchick called. The turn brought the 4♣ and Kachnicka72o slowed down and checked. Talonchick bet 42,000 and Kachnicka72o called. Both players checked the 4♠ on the river and Kachnicka72o revealed pocket threes. Talonchick's fives and fours were good and the quarter-million chip pot lifted her stack to 450,000.

Kachnicka72o won a few smaller pots to get back up to 322,000 before picking up pocket queens. All the money went in pre flop, talonchick in trouble with A♣J♦. However, the poker gods shined down on her as brightly as the Alberta sun with a A♠J♣4♠ flop. Another ace on the turn locked up the win.

Congratulations to Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome on a well-deserved Women's Sunday title! She banked $2,280.28 for the win while runner-up Kachnicka72o earned $1,672.50.

Rowsome said it all in this tweet right after her win: "First tourney win on the mobile app, first win on a boat, and first win in the Women's Sunday."
