Women's Sunday: Fourth time's the charm for 7mango, Fatima finishes fifth

This week's Women's Sunday final table was littered with familiar faces, none more recognizable than Olympic gold medalist and recent UKIPT Isle of Man runner-up Fatima Moreira de Melo, who offered a special $700 PCA Mega Qualifier ticket as her bounty. The Team PokerStars Sports Star arrived there third in chips, joining several Women's Sunday regulars and former champions. Germany's luzzzy has won three times and is the only player to accomplish that feat while 7mango celebrated her fourth trip to the final table, having finished third, sixth, and eighth. While De Melo ran afoul of the deck and ended her run in fifth place, 7mango finally had her day in the sun and closed out her first Women's Sunday win, earning $2,454.00.

240 players bought into this week's Women's Sunday, the prize pool topping out at an even $12,000.00. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,454.00. Red Spades Vanessa Selbst and Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome joined the field, each with a $50 bounty on her head. Although Selbst departed in 89th place and Rowsome just missed the money in 41st place, Fatima Moreira De Melo and her unique $700 bounty PCA ticket seized the chip lead with two tables to go and advanced to the final nine.

Blinds were 1,500/3,000 on the final table bubble and RacinPhoenix open-shoved for 31,807 from under-the-gun. De Melo called from the cutoff and AnteshL came along from the small blind. After checking down the flop and turn, De Melo made an 18,000 value bet on the river and AnteshL called. Fatima revealed K♦Q♣ for top pair, but was out kicked by AnteshL's A♥K♥. RacinPhoenix mucked and was eliminated in tenth place, sending us to the final table.

7mango takes out luzzzy

7mango got a huge boost to start the final table when she claimed the rest of luzzzy's chips. All-in pre flop for 37,125, luzzzy's 9♣9♦ fell to 7mango's A♥K♠ when an ace hit the flop and a king came on the river. 7mango moved up to 109,000 and luzzzy's final table run ended in ninth place ($228.00).

Lolas_mamma falls to AnteshL

Moments later, Lolas_mamma limped in from UTG and chip leader AnteshL raised to 9,544 from UTG+1. Lolas_mamma called and immediately moved all-in on the T♣5♦5♣ flop. AnteshL called, her 9♠9♦ crushing Lolas_mamma's 4♦4♣. The turn and river were the J♠ and the A♠, sending Lolas_mamma to the rail in eighth place ($300.00).

FatimaDeMelo busts Eleyla in seventh

On the very next deal, eleyla opened for a UTG min-raise to 6,000 and FatimaDeMelo three-bet to 15,000. Eleyla called, then shoved her last 5,676 on the J♥9♦4♥ flop. FatimaDeMelo called and turned up Q♣Q♦ while eleyla showed T♦T♠. Only a ten or running cards could save Eleyla, but instead De Melo was the one to spike a set, the turn and river falling the 5♣ and the Q♠. Eleyla exited in seventh place, good for $420.00.

chelle_can haz straight flush

Chelle_can had already enjoyed some incredible luck in the later stages of this tournament, cracking A-A with A-T with 11 players remaining. Down to 26,562 with the blinds up to 2,000/4,000, chelle_can open-shoved with 9♦T♦ and made a ten-high straight flush to double up to 57,524.

Fare the well, Fatima

Chelle_can's double-up left JaneFelice89 as the short stack. With 19,148 remaining, JaneFelice89 moved all-in from the cutoff with A♥9♥ and FatimaDeMelo called from the big blind with K♥7♦. JaneFelice89 hit middle pair on the J♦9♦5♦ flop, but De Melo picked up a flush draw. The T♣ turn was safe for JaneFelice89, but De Melo rivered the K♠ to make top pair. De Melo moved up to 132,400 and JaneFelice89 was eliminated in sixth place, collecting $540.00.

However, De Melo's luck took a turn for the worse a short time later. Dealt Q♠Q♣ under-the-gun, De Melo min-raised to 8,000 and openchampion three-bet shoved for 57,207 from the big blind, De Melo called, her pocket queens up against 6♣7♣. The flop was a dicey 7♥8♣9♦. Openchampion flopped an open-ended straight draw and picked up even more outs when the 3♣ turn gave her a flush draw. The T♦ river made open champion a ten-high straight and she raked in the 118,400 pot, leaving De Melo on 65,500.

A few hands later, FatimaDeMelo min-raised on the button and 7mango shoved from the big blind. De Melo called all-in and turned up A♦T♠, only to discover she was dominated by 7mango's A♥Q♦. De Melo did not improve on the K♥4♣3♦7♥9♥ board and ended her run in fifth place, 7mango picking up her $700 bounty ticket.

The rich get richer

7mango continued picking up steam as play turned four-handed. With the blinds up to 2,500/5,000, openchampion open-shoved for 80,000 from the cutoff and 7mango woke up with pocket eights in the small blind. Openchampion's A♥6♥ didn't catch up and she hit the rail in fourth place, good for $1,020.00.

The field down to three, chelle_can was the short stack with 62,000 while 7mango and AnteshL both held more than 300,000. Holding A♠6♣ in the small blind, chelle_can three-bet shoved and AnteshL called on the button with Q♦J♠. AnteshL turned Broadway on the K♠T♣2♠A♥J♥ board and chelle_can went out in third place, collecting $1,356.00

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 5: 7mango (355,809 in chips)
Seat 8: AnteshL (364,191 in chips)

AnteshL went into blind-stealing overdrive when heads-up play commenced. She scooped up seven of the first ten pots, increasing her stack to 433,000 and kept raking them in at about a 75% clip until she arched 526,000. That's when 7mango struck back, winning a 99,000 pot when her pocket tens made a flush on the river. 7mango moved back up to 235,000 while AnteshL slipped to 484,000...but not for long.

AnteshL continued attacking the blinds and chipped back up to 600,000 in no time. Left with only 102,000, 7mango flopped a set at the perfect time and doubled to 204,200:

Undeterred, AnteshL went back on the attack, whittling 7mango back down to 90,000. However, 7mango successfully took advantage of AnteshL's relentless aggression and called her three-bet shove on a 3♦4♦5♥ flop. AnteshL turned over 4♥7♠ for a pair of fours, but 7mango had her on the ropes with A♥A♠. 7mango's aces held and she doubled to 179,300.

Five hands later, 7mango three-bet shoved preflop and AnteshL called with A♥T♠. 7mango's pocket sevens won the flip and she doubled again, this time to 335,000. Then, with the blinds up to 4,000/8,000, 7mango min-raised to 16,000 and AnteshL called. AnteshL check-called another 16,000 on the 9♠9♦5♠ flop and check-called 32,000 more when the K♥ hit the turn. The river was the K♠ and AnteshL checked a third time. 7mango moved all-in for 231,400 and AnteshL called, revealing 3♠6♠ for a flush. 7mango, however, rivered kings full of nines with K♦4♦ and doubled to 592,000.

This topsy-turvy heads-up match came to a close with a bona fide cooler. Both players flopped trip queens and played it coy on the flop and turn before AnteshL committed the last of her chips on the river. 7mango's K♣Q♣ won the kicker war against AnteshL's Q♦6♥ and she locked up, at long last, her first Women's Sunday title.

Congratulations to 7mango, finally a Women's Sunday champion on her fourth trip to the final table! She banked $2,454.00 for the win while runner-up AnteshL earned $1,800.00.
