Women's Sunday: R-Clan62 denies alfaromea a second title, talonchick sixth

Once again, we had a chance at a repeat champion in the Women's Sunday. Only a few weeks ago, Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome won her first title from the deck of a sailboat while the Ukraine's alfaromea found the winner's circle back in January. Additionally, Portugal's DaliaAllin made the final table for the second week in a row, hoping to improve upon last Sunday' third-place finish. However, it was an upstart playing her first Women's Sunday final who ended up on top, as R-Clan62 eliminated five of her eight opponents en route to victory.

225 players made the Women's Sunday part of their weekend grind, the prize pool topping out at $11,250.00. 36 places were paid with $2,300.73 set aside for first place. Two Red Spades had $50 bounties up for grabs, Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander, and Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome. While Van Brabander saw her bounty claimed when JUANYI828's pocket tens held up against her Q♦9♠, Rowsome hung on to hers a bit longer and advanced to the final table.

Holding only 783 in chips on the money bubble, Fanny_Flash was the favorite to bust, but miraculously found K♣K♠ and quadrupled up vs. fr0m02her0's Q♥8♣. Instead it was KOTLYAREVSKA who hit the rail just short of a payday, her pocket sixes falling to JUANYI828's A♦T♦ when an ace hit the flop and a ten came on the turn.

Blinds were up to 1,000/2,000 with twelve players remaining and a double elimination took us to the final table bubble. All-in pre flop with both her opponents covered, Aretoyla7's A♠K♦ rivered a king to stomp out Kampfwombat's A♣J♦ and samesame80's A♦2♦. One table over, JUANYI828 three-bet shoved for 30,452 from the big blind and R-Clan62 called with T♦T♥. JUANYI828's A♥K♦ did not improve and she departed one spot short of the final table.

Three down in a hurry

The short stack entering the final table, preiin couldn't get any traction and ended up open-shoving her last 16,734 with Q♦J♥. Talonchick called with A♦Q♠ in the cutoff and rivered a Broadway straight on the K♥T♦T♠4♥J♦ board. Preiin collected $213.75 for ninth place, while talonchick moved up to 101,000 in chips.

Moments later, R-Clan62's J♦9♦ flopped bottom two pair against AscarlettX's top pair. AscarlettX check-raised the Q♦J♥9♠ flop with A♦Q♣ and R-Clan62 smooth-called. AscarlettX led out for 30,000 when the 3♣ hit the turn, then checked the 6♥ river. R-Clan62 moved all-in for 38,310 and AscarlettX looked her up only to lose the 197,000 pot. R-Clan62 doubled up and took the chip lead, leaving AscarlettX with only 13,000.

Two hands later, the action folded around to DaliaAllin in the small blind. She shoved for 66,000 with A♥3♦ and AscarlettX called off her remaining 10,000 with Q♠J♠. DaliaAllin flopped an ace and AscarlettX hit the rail in eighth place, good for $281.25.

On the very next deal, Se7enth Seal open-shoved for 28,500 and R-Clan62 reshoved from the small blind with A♣A♦. Se7enth Seal's Q♥T♥ did not catch up and she departed in seventh place.

Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome eliminated in sixth place

Holding A♠Q♠ under-the-gun, talonchick opened for a min-raise to 6,000 and went heads-up to a Q♥7♥2♦ flop with DaliaAllin. Talonchick bet 9,000 with TPTK, DaliaAllin shoved for 93,152 and talonchick called. DaliaAllin tabled A♥T♥ for the nut flush draw and got there when the 6♥ came on the turn. Talonchick's run came to an end in sixth place while DaliaAllin not only moved up to second in chips with 194,000 but collected an extra $50 for a Red Spade KO.

It's OK, I'm still alive in the Million (She finished 43/7,243!)

R-Clan62 picks off DaliaAllin

Unfortunately, DaliaAllin wasn't able to hang on to those chips for long. Although DaliaAllin had R-Clan62 dominated through the turn, R-Clan62 spiked a wheel on the river to claim more than half her stack.

Down to 94,000 in chips, DaliaAllin three-bet shoved from the big blind and UTG raiser R-Clan62 called. This time, DaliaAllin had the dominated hand, her A♣Q♠ failing to catch R-Clan62's A♦K♣ on the T♦4♥3♦J♠7♠ board. For fifth place, DaliaAllin banked $652.50.

alfaromea runs over aretoyla7

The blinds rose to 2,500/5,000 and Melinda0322 opened for 10,000 with T♣T♠ in the cutoff. R-Clan62 called from the small blind and they saw a K♣Q♠9♦ flop. R-Clan62 led out for 15,000 and Melinda0322 called. The J♠ on the turn was gin for Melinda0322 and R-Clan62 bet right into her, making it 30,000 to go. Melinda0322 smooth-called with her king-high straight. R-Clan62 bet another 60,000 when the 3♣ hit the river and Melinda0322 smooth-called again. R-Clan62's two pair with K♥J♦ were no good and Melinda0322 raked in the 237,000 pot.

However, alfaromea got her hands on most of those chips five hands later when she open-shoved 115,000 from the small blind. Alfaromea ran her A♣5♠ right into Melinda0322's pocket eights, but rivered an ace to take the chip lead with 232,000.

Down to her last 11 big blinds aretoyla7 three-bet shoved from the big blind with A♦Q♣ and alfaromea called with K♥T♣. The Q♥J♦3♣ flop hit both players, aretoyla7 taking the lead with top pair while alfaromea picked up an open-ended straight draw. The 7♣ turn was a blank, but alfaromea hit one of her 12 outs on the river with the K♦ to send aretoyla7 home in fourth place ($956.25).

Sweet dreams, Melinda

As play turned three-handed alfaromea held the chip lead with 368,000. R-Clan62 was in second position with 165,000 and Melinda0322 was the short stack with 142,000. Alfaromea shifted gears and turned up the aggression, whittling both opponents' stacks down to 20bb. Amidst alfaromea's relentless shoving, R-Clan62 and Melinda0322 clashed, R-Clan62's top two pair good for the 110,000 pot:

Melinda0322 fell to only 60,000 in chips and got the rest of her stack in the middle holding 9♥9c] vs. R-Clan62's A♠8♠. However, R-Clan62 flopped an ace, dashing Melinda0322's hopes for a double-up. Melinda0322 was out in third place, earning $1,271.25 for her run.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 5: R-Clan62 (170,704 in chips)
Seat 6: alfaromea (504,296 in chips)

Alfaromea took a 3 to 1 chip lead into heads-up play, the blinds up to 3,000/6,000. The counts had barely moved when R-Clan62 opened for 19,200 and alfaromea shoved with A♠9♠. R-Clan62 called, revealing J♠J♦. Alfaromea flopped top pair but R-Clan62 flopped a set, the board running out A♥K♠J♥6♦2♠. R-Clan62 doubled to 303,000 while alfraromea fell to 372,000.

Over the next 11 hands, alfaromea chipped up to 418,000 before a game-changing hand unfolded. This time, alfaromea picked up J♣J♥ and opened for a min-raise to 14,000. R-Clan62 three-bet to 21,000, alfaromea four-bet to 59,888 and R-Clan62 shoved for her remaining 258,000. Alfaromea called only to watch R-Clan62 roll over A♣A♥. Alfaromea couldn't pull off a miracle on the 6♦5♣2♦5♦T♦ board and sank to 158,000 in chips.

Seven flopless hands later, R-Clan62 opened for 14,000 and alfaromea shoved with A♥2♣. R-Clan62 called with Q♣T♠. Once again, the deck ran afoul of alfaromea, who flopped a deuce but saw her hopes for a comeback shattered when R-Clan62 rivered a queen to lock up her first Women's Sunday title.

Congratulations to Germany's R-Clan62 on banking $2,300.73 in her first Women's Sunday win! Alfaromea missed out on her second title, but earned $1,687.50 for her runner-up finish.
