Women's Sunday: Seventh time's the charm for luckyno75

It took seven trips to the final table, but luckyno75 is at last a Women's Sunday champion. As recently as six weeks ago, the Romanian made a third-place finish, adding to her three seconds and two sixth-place finishes. Today, she plowed through the final table, eliminating seven of her eight opponents en route to victory.

For the first time in recent memory, the Women's Sunday had a small overlay. 192 players bought in, creating a $9,600 prize pool that PokerStars boosted by an additional $400 to meet the $10k guarantee. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,045.00. Friend of PokerStars Charlotte Van Brabander joined the field as a $50 bounty, a sum claimed by SlyMax89 when her pocket queens held up against Van Brabander's A♥6♣.

Blinds were up to 1,250/2,500 with ten players remaining. With only 12,197 remaining, coloccini20 picked up A♣K♠ just in time and open-shoved from the small blind. Ississ called from the big with A♦6♣. Although the J♦3♣3♠ flop strongly favored coloccini20, ississ paired her kicker when the 6♠ hit the turn. The river was the A♥ and ississ raked in the pot with aces up, sending coloccini20 to the rail on the final table bubble.

Seat 6: luckyno75 (112,225 in chips)

Seat 9: MMC110 (62,238 in chips)

Domination station

Protonerasta quickly fell below ten big blinds and after karaurmanec opened for a min-raise to 6,000 from the cutoff, she jammed for 28,351 on the button with A♠J♦. Unfortunately, karaurmanec had her dominated with A♣K♠, the board finishing out 7♥6♠2♦6♥4♣ to end her run in ninth place ($190.00).

Three hands later, similarly short-stacked creamcow30 opened for a 3x raise to 9,000 and MMC110 shoved for 56,338 from the big blind with 8♣8♥. Creamcow30 happily called off her remaining 18,000 with Q♠Q♥ and doubled to 58,000.

MMC110 was left with only 26,000 in chips and was crippled even further when Lestar07 moved in for 11,100 and doubled through her with A♥K♦ vs. A♠3♣. MMC110 was left with only 14,900 in chips and moved in from UTG+1 with A♦T♦ on the next deal. Crankychick reshoved right behind her for 28,972, revealing K♥J♥. MMC110 flopped and ace and doubled to a safe-but-still-short 38,322.

Crankychick, however, was left with only 14,411 and moved in on the next hand with A♠6♠. Luckyno75 called and her T♦T♠ held up to send crankychick to the rail in eighth place ($250.00).

One shortie doubles, another fades

Meanwhile, Lestar07 was still hanging on with only 6 BB with the blinds up to 2,000/4,000. Luckyno75 opened from UTG+1 for 8,440 and Lestar07 shoved for 23,420 only to have timush91 reshove for 28,542 behind her. Luckyno75 gave up her hand and the cards went on their backs. Lestar07's A♥K♦ won the race against timush91's pocket jacks when a king hit the flop and an ace came on the turn, good for a double-up (and then some) to 62,000. Timush91 was left with little more than one big blind.

Two hands later, MMC110 picked up K♠8♠ and open-shoved for her last 33,322, and chip leader karaurmanec reshoved for over 185,000 on the button, revealing J♠J♥. Although karaurmanec kept the lead on the 9♥7♣6♥ flop, MMC110 picked up an open-ended straight draw. The 8♦ on the turn gave MMC110 a pair of eights and the river K♦ made her kings and eights, snapping off karaurmanec's jacks and doubling her stack to 75,444.

Timush91 doubled to 15,000 when her A♦T♠ held up against luckyno75's K♦5♦, but only survived a few more hands. Timush91 staked the last of her chips on J♠8♥, but it couldn't fade luckyno75's K♠Q♥. For seventh place, timush91 took home $350.00.

Luckyno75 hits her stride

MMC110 picked up more steam two hands later when she opened for a min-raise to 8,000 and luckyno75 moved in for 166,000. MMC110 snap-called and her Q♦Q♣ held up against luckyno75's A♦9♠, good for a double-up to 156,000. Moments later, creamcow30 three-bet shoved for 37,400 with A♣8♣ and flopped an ace against ississ's pocket sixes. Creamcow30 doubled to 85,000 but didn't last the rest of the level. Luckyno75 opened for 10,550 and creamcow30 three-bet to 20,000, leaving herself 48,000 behind. Luckyno75 shoved and creamcow30 called, her K♠Q♠ in dire shape against luckyno75's K♦K♣. Although creamcow30 flopped a gutshot straight draw, she couldn't crack kings and exited in sixth place ($450.00).

Luckyno75 continued to roll, taking out the remaining short stacks with a one-two punch. First up was Lestar07, who three-bet shoved for 15,680 with K♦[Jd[. Luckyno75 called with Q♠8♦ and flopped an eight to take Lestar07 out in fifth place ($580.00). Minutes later, ississ moved in for 38,700 from the small blind and luckyno75 called from the big. Luckyno75's A♠Q♠ held up against A♦9♣, ending ississ's run in fourth place ($850.00).

Get Lucky

As play turned three-handed, Luckyno75 held a comfortable chip lead with 278,000; karaurmanec and MMC110 held similar stacks with 153,000 and 144,000 respectively. With the blinds up to 3,000/6,000, luckyno75 opened for 12,660 and MMC110 moved all-in for 95,000 with pocket nines. Luckyno75 caled with A♦Q♠ and flopped an ace to eliminate MMC110 in third place ($1,130) and send us to heads-up play.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 3: karaurmanec (119,407 in chips)
Seat 6: luckyno75 (456,593 in chips)

Karaurmanec and luckyno75's chip counts barely budged as they ground through over a dozen small pots. This tournament ultimately came down to a coinflip and luckyno75 was able to close out the win when her 9♦9♠ held up against K♦Q♦:

Congratulations to luckyno75 on at long last capturing a Women's Sunday title! She banked $2,045 for the win while runner-up karamurmanec earned $1,500.00
