Women's Sunday: VARD125025 victorious over durrr085
On her seventh trip to a Women's Sunday final table, Russia's durrr085 hoped to finally close out a win. In the last year she's made two third-place finishes and one runner-up, and arrived at today's final table second in chips. Durrr085 eliminated four opponents at the final table and had a strong stack entering three-handed play, but VARD125025 caught a lucky break against icmplsfold to take the chip lead. After an intense heads-up battle, upstart VARD125025 came away with the win, leaving durrr085 to settle for second once again.
237 players bought into this week's Women's Sunday, the prize pool topping out at $11,850. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,423.43. Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was our lone Red Spade bounty today. Talonchick made the money, but was eliminated in 33rd place when her J♣T♦ did not improve vs. icmplsfold's K♥8♥.
Blinds were 1,250/2,500 with ten players remaining. Mtt_baller was down to her last 14,724 when she picked up A♠9♠ and shoved from the button. Table big stack icmplsfold called off an additional 12,000 from the big blind with Q♠4♠ and promptly made queens up when the flop fell Q♦2♠2♦. Mtt_baller needed an ace but blanked the turn and river, the K♥ and the T♠ falling to send her home on the final table bubble.

Delfus13 out in ninth
The final table lost its first player on Hand #3. On a A♠9♦3♦ flop, durrr085 checked to original raiser Kachnicka72o, who made it 7,500 to go. Delfus13 called and durrr085 raised to 21,250. Kachnicka72o gave up her hand but Delfus13 came back over the top for the rest of her chips. Durrr085 quickly called and revealed A♣9♣ for top two pair. Delfus13 turned up A♥Q♦ and needed to pair her kicker. The turn was the J♦, the river was the 8♣ and Delfus13 was eliminated in ninth place, earning $225.15.
durrr085 KOs pkwo
The pace settled down for a few minutes until the action folded to |_CáKons_| in the small blind. She open-shoved for her last 32,000 with Q♣8♥, but starablazkov called with A♣4♦ in the big blind. Starablazkov flopped an ace and doubled to 48,000, leaving |_CáKons_| on only 9,000 in chips. |_CáKons_| doubled to 21,000 on the next hand, her K♠Q♣ dominating durrr085's K♥8♣. |_CáKons_| did it again moments later against the same opponent, her pocket fours holding against durrr085's K♥J♣ to take her up to 43,000.
Meanwhile, pkwo was down to only 22,000 with the blinds up to 2,000/4,000. Durrr085 opened for 8,099 from UTG and pkwo shoved from middle position with 4♥4♠. Durrr085 looked her up with K♥Q♠ and flopped a queen, ending pkwo's run in eighth place ($296.25).
|_CáKons_| clobbers Kachnicka72o
With 12 BB remaining, |_CáKons_| picked up K♦K♣ at the perfect time and open-shoved from middle position. Kachnicka72o called off her last 31,346 with A♣T♥ in the big blind and was drawing nearly dead when the flop fell K♥8♥3♦, making |_CáKons_| top set. The turn was the 6♦ and the board paired eights on the river, giving |_CáKons_| kings full. Kachnicka72o had to settle for seventh place this week and added $414.75 to her bankroll.
After being down to only three big blinds, |_CáKons_| was up to 112,000, but lost some ground when she doubled up ZOOOMMMMM, her A♠Q♠ falling to A♥K♥. ZOOOMMMMM zipped up to 95,000, but lost half her stack to icmplsfold when she check-folded to a huge turn bet:
ZOOOMMMMM fell to 57,000 in chips. Facing a raise to 10,000 from durrr085, ZOOOMMMMM made a move and shipped it from the small blind with Q♦J♠. Unfortunately for her, durrr085 called with A♣J♥. The board ran out A♦Q♠4♥K♣J♣ and ZOOOMMMMM was out in sixth place, earning $533.25 for her efforts.
|_CáKons_| out in fifth, starablazkov finishes fourth
With five players remaining, it was deja vu all over again for |_CáKons_| and starablazkov. Once again, |_CáKons_| open-shoved from the small blind on a steal, but starablazkov had enough of a hand to call off the rest of her stack. |_CáKons_|'s 9♥7♦ couldn't fade starablazkov's Q♦J♥, the former falling to only 13,600 in chips while the latter doubled to 89,000. |_CáKons_| doubled back through starablazkov on the next hand, her pocket eights holding vs. A♦7♦, but she couldn't make it two in a row. On the next deal, |_CáKons_| moved in for 34,740 from UTG and VARD125025 called with pocket sixes. |_CáKons_| 's Q♠J♣ flopped a jack but a six came with it, making VARD125025 middle set. |_CáKons_| was drawing dead on the turn and exited in fifth place, good for $687.30.
Six hands later, statablazkov open-shoved for her last 11 big blinds and durrr085 called with K♠Q♣ in the big blind. Starablazkov's J♦9♦ did not improve and she hit the rail in fourth place, earning $1,007.25.
The field down to three, icmplsfold held the lead with 279,000, durrr085 was second with 235,000 and VARD125025 was the short stack with 196,500. Those standings were turned upside down when VARD125025 three-bet shoved with A♥4♥ and icmplsfold called with A♠K♦. VARD125025 paired her kicker on the T♣6♥4♠ flop, leaving icmplsfold drawing only to a king. The turn and river fell the 7♣ and the Q♣, and VARD125025 took the chip lead with 303,000.
A few hands later, VARD125025 flopped trip fives vs. durrr085 and picked up two streets of value.
VARD125025 moved up to 427,000, then pushed icmplsfold's stack down to 89,000 when she forced a fold on the river. A few hands later, VARD125025 opened for 14,000 on the button and icmplsfold called from the big blind. Both players checked the T♥9♦5♣ flop. When the 7♣ came on the turn, icmplsfold shoved her remaining 74,000 and VARD125025 snap-called, revealing a set of tens. Icmplsfold was drawing dead with K♣9♠ and departed in third place ($1,339.05).
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 1: VARD125025 (596,048 in chips)
Seat 4: durrr085 (114,952 in chips)
With the gulf this wide between their chip counts, VARD125025 was applying pressure on every hand, unwilling to let durrr085 see a flop for anything less than all her chips. Holding A♠2♣ on the button, VARD125025 open-shoved, but durrr085 was lying in wait with A♣Q♠ in the big blind. Durrr085's dominating hand held up and she doubled to 179,500. Moments later, VARD125025 shoved from the button with A♣6♦ and durrr085 woke up with pocket sevens. Durrr085 flopped a set and doubled again, this time to 234,408.
VARD125025 went back to work and had whittled durrr085 down to 159,000 when this hand came up. Having check-called durrr085's flop and turn bets, VARD125025 turned around and shoved light on the river. Durrr085 made a great call with only second pair and doubled to 319,000.
By the time the blinds rose to 4,000/8,000, durrr085 had nearly closed the gap, holding 345,000 to VARD125025's 366,000. VARD125025 stuck with her aggressive approach and quickly ground back another 100,000 in chips, only to have durrr085 knock her back. Something must have clicked within VARD125025 because she shifted into overdrive, winning 13 of 15 pots before the final hand unfolded.
Holding 482,000 to durrr085's 228,500, VARD125025 open-shoved with 6♣6♠ and durrr085 called with A♥K♣. If durrr085 doubled, she'd take a massive chip lead, if the coin fell on VARD125025's side, she'd close out the win. The flop fell 7♥4♥4♠, VARD125025 keeping the lead. The 3♥ turn was no help to durrr085 and the 2♣ river sealed VARD125025's first Women's Sunday title.
Congratulations to VARD125025 on joining the ranks of Women's Sunday champions! She banked $2,423.43 for the win while runner-up durrr085 earned $1,777.50.
