Boeree and Rowsome remember Women's Sunday wins

As we approach the third birthday of the Women's Sunday, we asked two of the many winners of that special tournament to talk about their victories - Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree and Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome.

Well over 100 women have captured the Women's Sunday title in its three years, some having done it more than once. The event is so unique that every win is special. The tournament is the only one of its kind in online poker, as only PokerStars offers such an array of women-only events that culminate in a $55 buy-in NLHE event with a $10K guarantee each and every Sunday.

Boom! for Boeree

When the Women's Sunday was still in its infancy, Liv was a regular in the tournament, playing when her schedule allowed and with a $50 bounty on her virtual head. In August 2011, she won the title and collected her own bounty.

"It was great to get another title under my belt for sure," she recalled. But there was more to it. "It was great to take the title and be able to promote the event further." She admits that the fields continue to get tougher in the Women's Sunday, which is one of the reason she still enjoys playing. "There are often new or different faces from week to week, which is good news!"

Liv feels the tournament is special for a number of reasons. "There's a level of friendliness, support and camaraderie in the Women's Sunday that you don't get in other tournaments. It gives the female players a chance to get to know one another and build the female community further. In no other tournament online do I see so much chat activity in the chatbox!"

Remarkable Rowsome Win

When Adrienne won her tournament in the summer of 2013, it was a challenging day but certainly a memorable one.

"I will always remember my win in the WS because I was having connection issues due to my location. My friends were wakeboarding and surfing behind our friends' boat, and we ended up in an area with really bad connectivity. The driver made the person in the water get back in the boat and drove quickly to an area on the lake where I could get reception. The win was perfect for me because it represented and reminded me of what I like most about playing poker - having fun with the side benefit of being profitable!"

Adrienne is a regular in the tournament, always finding the time to get in on the Women's Sunday action. "It is terrific for a sense of community. I play the tournament almost every week, so after three years, there are so many screen names that I recognize and even some that I can put faces to (whether having met at PCA or at a PS Live party). With that familiarity, there tends to be more chat and interaction at the tables, too."
