Sashatoblue stages a comeback, wins June 22nd Women's Sunday
The best part of the Women's Sunday, at least in my humble opinion, is the incredible community that has grown out of this tournament. Week in and week out, so many of the same faces turn up, plenty of them final table veterans with multiple appearances. Sashatoblue is one of them, having previously scored a fourth and a fifth-place finish before making today's final nine. Although she was a bit short on chips to begin, Sashatoblue doubled twice in the early going and eliminated two opponents, arriving to three-handed play within striking distance of chip leader nadyalqudsy. Once nadyalqudsy finished off sladost in third place, Sashatoblue pounced. She gobbled up all nadyalqudsy's chips within seven hands and finally broke through, winning her first Women's Sunday title in three trips to the final table.
237 femmes of the felt flocked to this week's Women's Sunday, the prize pool topping out at $11,850.00. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,423.43. Three $55 Red Spade bounties were in the field: Katerina "katerina289" Malasidou, Celina Lin and Fatima De Melo, but all were claimed before the money bubble burst.
Blinds were 1,400/2,800 with ten players remaining. Mayashanti was far from short stacked with 94,164 in chips when nadyalqudsy opened for 5,600 from the cutoff. Nat Poker Q called on the button and mayashanti came along from the big blind. The flop fell Q♣T♠7♣ and mayashanti immediately moved all-in for 88,214. Nadyaqudsy folded but Nat Poker Q called, her K♣Q♥ trailing mayashanti's bottom two pair with 7♠T♥. However, the tables turned when the K♥ came on fourth street, giving Nat Poker Q a superior two pair. Mayashanti didn't boat up on the 3♥ river and was eliminated on the final table bubble.

Sashatoblue was down to 11 big blinds when she saw an A♠4♠3♦ from position against luckyno75. Luckyno75 made a 10,536 continuation bet, Sashatoblue shoved for 28,256 and luckyno75 called. Sashatoblue's A♣J♦ won the kicker war vs. A♦8♦ and she doubled to 78,000.
D0ntTiltOnMe had her turn on the very next deal when she picked up A♦A♥ and Nat Poker Q four-bet shoved preflop with K♠J♣. Although Nat Poker Q made trip kings on the K♦K♥3♦ flop, D0ntTiltOnMe rivered the A♣ and doubled to 141,300 with aces full.
Moments later, nadayalqudsy opened for a UTG min-raise to 6,400 and Sashatoblue shoved for 95,000 from UTG+1. Nadyalqudsy quickly called with Q♥Q♠ only to discover she was up against K♦K♥. Sashatoblue flopped a set of kings and turned kings full of deuces, taking her stack up to 198,000.
The last two short stacks succumb
Four hands after Sashatoblue's double, the action folded to pokerpro9843 in the small blind and she moved in her last 15,356 with Q♠9♦. Sladost called from the big blind with a dominating A♣9♠. Sladost flopped an ace and turned trips, ending pokerpro9843's run in eighth place ($296.25).
Another four hands passed before diana363 opened for a 5x raise to 19,800, leaving herself only 1,318 behind. D0ntTiltOnMe reshoved for 119,000 from the cutoff and diana363 called all-in, revealing 7♥7♣. D0ntTiltOnMe had her crushed with Q♥Q♠. D0ntTiltOnMe turned a set of queens and rivered queens full of sixes, eliminating diana363 in seventh place ($414.75).
Aces cracked spells the end for D0ntTiltOnMe
Nadyalqudsy took the chip lead when her A♣8♠ flopped an ace against luckyno75's A♥J♠ in a pre flop all-in. Nadyalqudsy moved up to 268,000 after the hand, but her stint at the top was short-lived. With 126,600 behind, D0ntTiltOnMe opened for a min-raise to 8,000 and Nat Poker Q called from the big blind. Nat Poker Q led out for 4,000 on the K♣4♥3♣ flop, D0ntTiltOnMe raised to 20,000 and Nat Poker Q called. The turn came the 5♠ and Nat Poker Q immediately moved all-in for 182,740. D0ntTiltOnMe called all-in for 98,000 only to discover her A♣A♦ was cracked by 4♣5♦. The river was the 6♦ and D0ntTiltOnMe hit the rail in sixth place, earning $533.25.
luckyno75 turns three outer only to get rivered
With the blinds up to 2,400/4,800, luckyno75 was the short stack with 150,230 in chips. Sashatoblue opened for 9,600 from UTG, luckyno75 called from the small blind and nadyaqudsy three-bet to 25,400 from the big. Both opponents called and they saw a Q♥Q♠T♠ flop. Luckyno75 checked to nadyalqudsy, who bet 34,800. Sashatoblue folded and luckyno75 raised to 72,000. Nadyalqudsy shoved and luckyno75 called off her remaining 52,000 with Q♦K♠ for trips. Only, it was yet another massive cooler as nadyaqudsy revealed A♥Q♦... trips with an ace kicker! Luckyno75 could only survive with a king and boom, the K♣ landed on the turn to make her queens full of kings. Still, her fortune was reversed yet again when the river fell the A♦, making nadyaqudsy queens full of aces. A stunned luckyno75 hit the rail in fifth place ($687.30) while nadyaqudsy zoomed to the top of the chip counts.
Sashatoblue rolls over Nat Poker Q
When play turned four-handed, Sashatoblue snagged the majority of Nat Poker Q's stack when their money went in on a A♥4♦3♣ flop. Although Sashatoblue's A♠5♠ was dominated by A♦9♠, Sashatoblue rivered the 2♣ to make a wheel. Nat Poker Q was left with 86,000 and moved in five hands later on a J♠5♥3♠ flop. Sashatoblue caller, her K♥J♥ leading Nat Poker Q's J♦T♣. Nat Poker Q missed the 8♠ turn and Sashatoblue finished the job, rivering the K♦ to make kings and jacks. For fourth place, Nat Poker Q took home $1,007.25.
sladost takes third
When three-handed play commenced, nadyalqudsy held the chip lead with 603,000, Sashatoblue was close behind with 498,000 and sladost was the short stack with 84,000. Dealt A♠2♦ on the button, sladost moved all-in, but nadyalqudsy woke up with A♥Q♣ in the small blind. Sladost did not improve on the J♣6♥4♠A♦T♥ board and went out in third place ($1,339.05).
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 1: Sashatoblue (513,120 in chips)
Seat 8: nadyalqudsy (671,880 in chips)
Although they weren't too far apart in chips to start, Sashatoblue and nadyalqudsy's heads-up match only took seven hands to play out. On Hand #4, Sashatoblue made it 25,600 to go on the button and nadyalqudsy shoved for 717,280 with A♠J♦. Sashatoblue snap-called with Q♠Q♣ and doubled to 934,000 when the board ran out ten-high.
Three hands later, Sashatoblue closed it out thanks to another monster hand. Sadyalqudsy four-bet shoved for 239,000 with A♠4♥ and Sashatoblue practically beat her into the pot with K♥K♣. Nadyalqudsy didn't catch up on the Q♦9♥7♥4♣Q♥ board and had to settle for second place, while Sashatoblue captured her first Women's Sunday title!
Congrats to Sashatoblue on her come-from-behind victory, going from the third-shortest stack to first place. She banked $2,423.43 for the win, while runner-up nadyalqudsy earned $1,777.50.
