Women's Sunday: ARichDesign draws a win

Last October, 23-year old Angelina "ARichDesign" Rich introduced herself to the Two Plus Two forums with a post that included four poker goals. Topping the list was to win the Women's Sunday. Only five months after calling her shot, American-born Queensland-dwelling Rich can cross it off her list. Although she arrived at the final table near the bottom of the pack, she quickly eliminated a short stack and went on to take out two more players before commencing three-handed play as the chip leader. Although Greece's folitsa put up quite a fight heads-up, ARichDesign remained patient and overcame a nearly 2 to 1 chip deficit before coming away with her first Women's Sunday title.

This week's tournament drew 241 players, the prize pool topping out at $12,050.00. 36 places were paid with $2,464.33 set aside for first place. Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was this week's Red Spade bounty bust she saw it claimed early with her 116th-place finish.

Blinds were 1,500/3,000 with ten players remaining and Wood5y55 was the short stack with 17,698. Holding K♣T♦ she open-shoved from UTG, and 1976jen called from the cutoff. 1976jen's K♥Q♦ held up on the A♠8♣7♣9♠7♦ board, sending Wood5y55 to the rail on the final table bubble.

Three down in a row

Within the first ten minutes, E.Viltseva fell to 36,000 in chips and open-shoved from middle position with K♥Q♠. 1976jen called on the button, her K♣J♠ dominated. However, 1976jen got a lucky break when the flop fell J♣3♦2♠, making her top pair. E.Viltseva could not catch up and was the first player eliminated from the final table, her ninth-place finish earning her $228.95.

Moments later, pamrleader three-bet shoved for 44,000 with pocket jacks and 1976jen called with A♣Q♠. 1976jen couldn't make it two in a row as the flop came down J♠J♣9♣, making pamrleader quad jacks. Pamrleader doubled to 97,000 while 1976jen fell to 91,000.

Three more hands passed before short stack taz4devil open-shoved for 19,762 and ARichDesign reshoved for 40,046 from the cutoff. 1976jen moved all-in over the top for 68,109 from the small blind and the cards went on their backs.

ARichDesign K♠K♣
taz4devil A♦8♥

ARichDesign's pocket kings held up on the Q♦6♥5♣2♦7♣ board to scoop both the main and side pots. 1976jen fell to only 28,000 in chips and tax4devil was eliminated in eighth place, good for $301.25.

Five hands later, 1976jen found A♣T♠ UTG and moved in for 26,000. Unfortunately, she ran straight into folitsa's A♠A♦ and ended her run in seventh place ($421.75).

ARichDesign scores another KO, takes chip lead

Her chip count now in six-figure territory, ARichDesign opened for a min-raise to 8,000 from UTG and jam3s1nlove shoved for 52,704 from the cutoff. ARichDesign snap-called, her K♠K♣ leading jam3s1nlove's A♥Q♠. The kings held and ARichDesign scored another KO, eliminating jam3s1nlove in sixth place ($542.25).

ARichDesign moved into the chip lead with 235,000 but quickly lost it when her pocket sevens fell to folitsa's A♠K♠ in a pre flop all-in. Folitsa doubled to 208,000 while ARichDesign fell to 134,500. However, six hands later, folitsa's newfound chips landed in pamrleader's stack when her Q♣Q♠ ran into A♣A♠.

Folitsa fell to 101,000 in chips but soon doubled through kittymstar with A♥Q♣ vs. A♦J♣ to move back up to 206,000. Kittymstar was left with only 31,600, but doubled to 66,000 when her J♠T♥ rivered a flush vs. pamrleder's A♦K♦ on a 8♠4♠3♠Q♥6♠ board.

Down to 78,000 with the blinds up to 2,500/5,000, sexyhands picked up A♠8♥ and open-shoved on the button. However, folitsa snap-reshoved from the small blind for 151,000 and turned up a dominating A♦J♣. Folitsa hit a jack on the flop and sent sexyhands to the rail in fifth place, $698.90 her consolation prize.

ARichDesign runs QQ into AA... and survives

Sitting in third place with 138,500 in chips, ARichDesign nearly saw her tournament end in fourth place. Pamrleader opened for a 3x raise to 15,000, ARichDesign three-bet to 37,500 with Q♦Q♣ and pamrleader four-bet to 160,000. ARichDesign called all-in for an additional 100,000 only to have pamrleader table A♦A♣. Luck, however, came around for ARichDesign when the flop fell K♣Q♥J♥, making her a set of queens. The turn and river paired nines and ARichDesign doubled to 283,000 with queens full.

With the blinds up to 3,000/6,000, pamrleader open-shoved for 132,000 from UTG and kittymstar called all-in for 52,000 from the big blind. Pamrleader's A♦J♥ held up against kittymstar's J♣T♥ on the J♦9♠3♦4♣9♣ board, sending her home in fourth place ($1,024.25).

Folitsa outflops pamrleader

As play turned three-handed, ARichDesign was the chip leader with 297,000, folitsa was second with 230,000 and pamrleader was the short stack with 195,000.

Dealt A♠K♦ on the button, pamrleader (misclick?) raised to 78,000 and folitsa shoved for 223,000 from the small blind with A♦J♣. Pamrleader called, but was outflopped on theJ♥3♥6♠T♦8♣ board. Folitsa raked in the 390,000 pot and pamrleader was out in third place, earning $1,361.65 for her efforts.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 4: folitsa (422,213 in chips)
Seat 6: ARichDesign (300,787 in chips)

Their stacks still relatively deep, ARichDesign and folitsa traded pots for about 15 minutes before ARichDesign went on a tear, winning 10 out of 11 pots to even up the chip counts. However, the pendulum swung back folitsa's way when ARichDesign check-called her flop and turn bets on a Q♥9♦7♠J♣T♣ board, but folded to a pot-sized bet on the river.

However, ARichDesign picked up the perfect hand at the perfect time, calling all-in with Q♦Q♥ when folitsa five-bet shoved pre flop with A♦Q♠. ARichDesign's pocket queens held up and she doubled to 504,000.

A few hands later, ARichDesign closed it out when her A♣7♣ turned the nut flush and folitsa rivered a queen-high flush:

Congratulations to ARichDesign on her first Women's Sunday title! She banked $2,464.33 for the win while runner-up folitsa collected $1,807.50.
