Women's Sunday: cheesebreeze brings home the cheddar

Apparently, there was the matter of a little American football match today, but that didn't deter the 215 ladies who came out for this weeks' Women's Sunday. 36 players earned a share of the $10,750.00 prize pool with first place taking home $2,198.48. Two Red Spade bounties were in play today and they were claimed quite early, with Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome exiting in 180th place and Fatima Moreira De Melo following in 169th.

Durrr085 has made seven Women's Sunday final tables, but fell just short of increasing that number to eight. All-in preflop with A♦5♥, durrr085 ran into yoyo070's pocket aces and was left with only 1,034 in chips with the blinds up to 1,500/3,000. Durrr085 was eliminated on the next hand and the remaining nine advanced to the final table.

Early eliminations

The final table lost its first player on the fifth hand. Short stack Holyhand1000 limped in from middle position, LuiDK84 completed the small blind and chiccc_sthlm checked her option in the big. Both players checked to Holyhand1000 on the Q♥J♠6♠ flop and she bet 3,000. LuiDK84 called and chiccc_sthlm folded. LuiDK84 check-called another 18,000 on the 3♥ turn, but when the 6♥ came on the river, LuiDK84 shoved for her remaining 18,819. Holyhand1000 called all-in for less and turned up Q♠9♠ for two pair. It was no match for LuiDK84's flush with J♥9♥ and Holyhand1000 departed in ninth place, collecting $204.25.

Three hands later, chiccc_sthlm picked up A♠7♠ and moved in for her last 4,334. Hanulcz called 334 more from the big blind with A♦8♠ and her dominating hand held up to win the pot. Chiccc_sthlm exited in eighth place, good for $268.75.

Down to 35,000 with the blinds up to 2,500/5,000, MrDubitando three-bet shoved from the big blind with A♦5♦ and initial raiser CoralieCo called with A♠T♦. CoralieCo hit a ten on the flop, the board running out Q♦T♣4♣K♣3♠ to eliminate MrDubitando in seventh place ($376.25).

yoyo070 crippled by queens, hanulcz hammered with quads

MrDubitando's elimination left @ANAVI@301 as the short stack with 36,000 in chips. With the action folded to her on the button, she shoved with A♠4♦ and LuiDK84 called from the small blind with K♦Q♣. @ANAVI@301 rivered a wheel on the 8♣[7]3♦2♠5♦ board and she doubled to 80,000.

Hanulcz also got a much-needed chip infusion when she picked up pocket queens and yoyo070 called her three-bet shove with Q♠J♣. Hanulcz doubled to 130,000, leaving yoyo070 on only 14,000. A few hands later, yoyo070 open-shoved with J♣9♦ and LuiDK84 called with Q♦4♣ from the big blind. LuiDK84 flopped a four and rivered a queen, sending yoyo070 to the rail in sixth place ($483.75).

Hanulcz moved up to 159,000 but was soon coolered for most of her stack. @ANAVI@301 three-bet shoved for 81,000 from the small blind and Hanulcz called, only to find her 9♥9♦ up against T♠T♦. @ANAVI@301 flopped quads to boot, and moved up to 172,000.

Hanulcz fell to 70,000 in chips and with the blinds up to 3,000/6,000, she made a small blind shove with A♥J♥. Cheesebreeze called from the big blind with 9♦9♠. Once again, hanulcz's hopes were dashed by quads as the board came down 9♥9♣8♦2♥4♥. Hanulcz's run came to an end in fifth place, $623.50 her consolation prize.

cheesebreeze blows over CoralieCo

With hanulcz's elimination, cheesebreeze moved into the chip lead with 289,000. CoralieCo and LuiDK84 were fighting it out on short stack with about 78,000 apiece until LuiDK84 got her chips in pre flop with A♣Q♦ vs. CoralieCo's A♥J♥. LuiDK84's hand held up and rivered a pair of queens for good measure. CoralieCo was left with only 734 in chips and although she quadrupled up to 2,868 on the next hand, she couldn't make it two in a row. Cheesebreeze finished her off in fourth place, turning tens full against CoralieCo's trip queens:

@ANAVI@301 runs into queens

As play turned three-handed, cheesebreeze led with 365,000, LuiDK84 was second with 158,000 and @ANAVI@301 was the short stack with 121,500. Cheesebreeze took advantage of her lead and stayed aggressive, whittling both opponents down to less than 100,000 in chips. With the blinds up to 3,500/7,000 and 90,000 left, @ANAVI@301 three-bet shoved with 6♥6♠, but slammed into cheese breeze's Q♣Q♦. The pocket queens held on an ace-high board and @ANAVI@301 took third place, earning $1,214.75.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 2: cheesebreeze (563,846 in chips)
Seat 5: LuiDK84 (81,154 in chips)

Cheezebreeze kept the pedal to the metal and chipped away at LuiDK84, reducing her stack to only 32,000 before she doubled up with 6♥6♣ vs. K♥2♣. Four hands later and her stack back down to 49,000, LuiDK84 open-shoved on the button with pocket sixes and cheesebreeze called with A♦J♥. Cheesebreeze's over cards did not improve and LuiDK84 doubled again, this time to 99,000.

Ultimately, LuiDK84 couldn't overcome her massive chip deficit... or win another coin flip. All-in with 8♣8♥ vs. cheesebreeze's K♣J♣, LuiDK84 had her pocket pair snapped off by a king on the flop:

Congratulations to cheesebreeze on her first Women's Sunday title! She banked $2,198.48 for the win, while runner-up LuiDK84 earned $1,612.50.
