Women's Sunday: Fourth time's the charm for rüdiger1958

This week's Women's Sunday was packed with added value. Not only were four Red Spade bounties in play, but all nine of today's final table players were rewarded with a PokerStars Entertainment Pack, containing five free tournament tickets plus an entry into next weekend's All-In Shootout. Additionally, this week's champion, along with all Women's Sunday entrants from her country, picked up tickets to the World Record Tournament on February 23rd. Those tickets ultimately went to five Austrians, including this week's winner rüdiger1958, who took home her first Women's Sunday title on her fourth trip to the final table.

250 players bought into the Women's Sunday, the prize pool topping out at $12,500.00. 36 places were paid with first place set to earn $2,556.25. Red Spades Celina Lin, Fatima Moreira De Melo, Natalie Hof, and Adrienne Rowsome joined the field with $50 bounties on their heads. While Lin, Hof, and De Melo made early exits, Team Online's resident mom-to-be made a deep run and finished in 21st place.

Blind were 1,250/2,500 with ten players remaining. Short stack acumen found A♥8♣ under the gun and moved in for her last 21,144. F.t DON1 called from the big blind with A♠5♣. Although acumen made top pair on the 6♠7♥8♠ flop, f.t DON1 picked up an open-ended straight draw. Acumen improved to two pair on the 7♣ turn, but f.t. DON1 caught the 9♦ on the river to make a nine-high straight, eliminating acumen on the final table bubble.

rüdiger1958 and f.t DON1 score early KOs

On the fourth hand of the final table, rüdiger1958 opened for a UTG min-raise to 5,000, Vasiria called from the cutoff and f.t DON1 called from the big blind. The action checked to Vasiria on the K♦4♣3♣ flop. Vasiria bet 10,000 and only rüdiger1958 called. When the 9♣ turned, rüdiger1958 checked again to Vasiria, who bet 12,500. Rüdiger1958 raised all-in for 51,817 and Vasiria called off her remaining 28,188. Rüdiger1958 had a stranglehold on the hand with K♣K♥, Vasiria in dire shape with K♠Q♦. Rüdiger1958 improved to a flush on the river with the T♣ and eliminated Vasiria in ninth place ($237.50).

Missnadiaa blinded down to 17,411 before doubling through letstamgo. All-in pre flop with A♠T♠ dominated by A♥K♠, missnadiaa hit a ten on the turn to move up to 46,222 in chips. Letstamgo fell to 41,000 and with the blinds up to 2,000/4,000, she three-bet shoved from the small blind with pocket nines. Unfortunately, letstamgo ran into rüdiger1958's pocket aces and she hit the rail in eighth place, earning $312.50.

Missnadiaa fell to 25,000 in chips before she picked up A♥9♣ UTG and open-shoved. F.t. DON1 reshoved for 151,000 to isolate and tabled A♣Q♦. Missnadiaa couldn't improve her dominated hand and went home in seventh place, $437.50 richer.

MiniiMalin calls draaideur22's bluff, Jettableue busts in fifth

With about 20 big blinds remaining, missy.asian picked up J♦J♣ and three-bet Jettableue's UTG min-raise to 28,400. Jettableue four-bet shoved for 79,288 and missy.asian called, delighted to lay eyes on 9♣9♥. Missy.asian flopped jacks full on the J♠6♦6♣2♣8♥ board and left Jettableue on only 4,000 in chips.

Jettableue managed to trip to 15,000 on the next hand when her K♥T♥ turned top pair vs. two opponents. Then, moments later, she doubled again, her A♠7♦ holding up vs. f.t DON1s Q♦J♦. A bit more secure with 31,500 in chips, Jettableue took a short breather, just long enough to move up a spot on the pay ladder. The blinds up to 2,500/5,000, draaideur22 opened for 1,000 and MiniiMalin three-bet to 25,000 on the button. Draaideur22 called and they saw a A♠8♦5♦ flop. Draaideur22 check-called 25,000 on the flop and both players checked when the 2♣ turn. The river was the 8♥ and draaideur22 moved all-in for 80,000. MiniiMalin called, tabling A♥T♠ for aces up. Draaideur22 was on a stone bluff with K♦Q♦ and went out in sixth place, collecting $562,50.

Three hands later, Jettableue open-shoved for 42,000 with 7♥7♠ and MiniiMalin called from the big blind with only 3♦4♠. However, MiniiMalin struck gold on the Q♦4♣3♣ flop, hitting bottom two pair. Jettableue got no help on the 2♦ turn or the T♠ river and hit the rail in fifth place, good for $725.00.

rüdiger1958 doubles, takes out missy.asian

With that elimination, MiniiMalin took a commanding chip lead, her 431,000 in chips nearly four times the stack of her closest competitor, missy.asian. However, short stack rüdiger1958 relieved her of a chunk of it when her 3♣3♥ flopped a set vs. MiniiMalin's K♥T♠. Rüdiger1958 doubled to 179,000 and moved up to a strong second place.

Down to only 55,000, missy.asian found J♣J♥ under-the-gun and opened for 12,000. F.t DON1 flat-called and rüdiger1958 shoved for 111,000 from the small blind. F.t DON1 got out of the way and missy.asian called, only to be shown A♣A♦. Missy.asian didn't find a miracle on the T♥6♥2♠3♣2♥ board and went out in fourth place, earning $1,062.50.

MiniiMalin falls our of the lead

The blinds up to 3,000/6,000, rüdiger1958 picked up A♣J♥ and opened for 12,000. MiniiMalin three-bet to 36,000 and rüdiger1958 shoved for 167,000. MiniiMalin called, revealing K♥Q♦. Rüdiger1958 turned top pair on the T♠9♠9♣A♠3♠ board and took the chip lead with 342,000 while MiniiMalin fell to 176,000.

MiniiMalin continued losing ground and with 109,000 remaining, she open-shoved from the small blind with Q♦8♥ and f.t DON1 called from the big blind A♣3♥. MiniiMalin didn't improve on the T♦4♦3♣7♦K♠ board and was eliminated in third place ($1,412.50).

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 4: f.t DON1 (439,206 in chips)
Seat 5: rüdiger1958 (310,794 in chips)

F.t DON1 and rüdiger1958 battled it out for over half an hour, the lead flying back and forth over half a dozen times. Rüdiger1958 moved into the chip lead when she doubled with pocket nines vs. pocket fives to move up to 505,000. F.t DON1 was left with 245,000 but rebounded with a 155,000 pot on the next hand when she shoved the turn and won without a showdown. F.t. DON1 reclaimed the lead and went on a rampage, winning ten pots in a row to chip up to 588,000. However, rüdiger1958 broke her streak when she called f.t DON1's river bluff, good for a 322,000 pot:

However, only moments later, rüdiger1958 flopped top pair and the nut flush draw with A♠T♦ and turned the nut flush. F.t. DON1 paid off her river bet and rüdiger1958 moved back up to 535,000 in chips. F.t DON1 went back to work and completely reversed the counts by the 5,000/10,000 level. F.t DON1 had rüdiger1958 down to only 159,000 when she picked up Q♠Q♥ and got her money in on a J♥4♣2♠7♦ board vs. f.t DON1's pair of jacks. The river blanked out with the 3♥ and rüdiger1958 doubled to 319,000.

The tournament went to its regularly scheduled hourly break and on their second hand back, rüdiger1958 took control, winning this 615,000 pot:

F.t DON1 fell to 134,000 in chips and open-shoved six hands later with only 3♣T♦. Rüdiger1958 snap-called with 7♦7♥. F.t DON1 did not improve on the 9♠6♦5♦8♥5♠ board and after four trips to the final table, rüdiger1958 finally locked up a Women's Sunday win.

Congratulations to rüdiger1958 on capturing a Women's Sunday title. She banked $2,556.25 for the win while runner-up f.t DON1 earned $1,875.00
