It's almost the end of 2013, and women lined up at the virtual tables to play in the Women's Sunday. It is one thing to put "win a Women's Sunday" on your 2014 resolution list, but it's another to win the final one of 2013!
Before the New Year's parties begin and women around the world begin packing for their trips to the Bahamas for the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, a number of them sat at their warm computers for the $55 Women's Sunday. And as usual, the $10K guarantee was left behind as the field grew.
Total players: 260
Prize pool: $13,000.00
Paid finishers: 45
Several members of Team PokerStars participated today, each with the usual $50 bounty on her avatar's head. The first one to exit the tournament was Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome, and Team Pro Liv Boeree was soon to follow. Finally, Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander left in 130th place.

The money bubble bust near the 2.5-hour mark, and the field thinned to only two tables over the course of the next hour plus. Hand-for-hand play started almost exactly at the four-hour mark of the tournament, and it took only a few hands for MirKriSAN to make an all-in challenge. Kashtone called all-in from the big blind holding A♣Q♣, and MirKriSAN showed J♠J♥ for the race. But the board of 3♥J♣9♥3♠6♣ gave MirKriSAN the full house, and kashtone had to leave in tenth place with $195.00.
Nadyalqudsy starts with solid lead
In the middle of Level 19, with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante, the final table was set as follows:
Seat 1: BarborkaRec (55,413 in chips)
Seat 2: QueenBee902 (32,386 in chips)
Seat 3: nadyalqudsy (227,177 in chips)
Seat 4: MirKriSAN (145,151 in chips)
Seat 5: xAnGeLxEyEzx (88,937 in chips)
Seat 6: acumen plus (30,692 in chips)
Seat 7: amun27 (18,300 in chips)
Seat 8: Marianna1090 (32,134 in chips)
Seat 9: preiin (149,810 in chips)
On the very first hand, however, BarborkaRec doubled through nadyalqudsy to chip away at the chip leader. MirKriSAN then doubled through preiin, and the former was in the chip lead.
Short-stacked amun27 pushed all-in from the small blind with A♠T♠, and original raiser xAnGeLxEyEzx called 7,800 more with T♥9♠. The board came 6♣Q♥9♦4♠J♠, and the pair of nines was enough to eliminate amun27 in ninth place for $227.50.
Two hands later, a hand began with an UTG raise from nadyalqudsy and reraise from xAnGeLxEyEzx. Nadyalqudsy reraised, and xAnGeLxEyEzx called all-in with A♦A♥. Nadyalqudsy showed A♣K♣ but caught the straight draw on the T♥7♠J♥ and made that straight on the Q♠ turn. The 6♣ river eliminated xAnGeLxEyEzx in eighth place with $312.00.
Acumen plus was the next player at risk. It happened when MirKriSAN pushed all-in from the button with 8♣7♦, and acumen plus called all-in with A♠K♥. But the straight draw appeared on the 6♣6♦5♠ flop and completed with the 9♠ turn. The J♥ river card sent acumen plus out in seventh place with $442.00.
Marianna1090 had become severely short stacked and made her move with A♣K♣ against the Q♣T♠ of nadyalqudsy. The board favored the latter, though, when it showed Q♦6♣3♠T♣7♠ for the two pair. Marianna1090 was out in sixth place with $572.00.
Not a few rounds later, a big hand developed. QueenBee902 raised all-in from second position, and nadyalqudsy reraised from the next seat. Preiin reraised all-in for nearly 120K chips, and nadyalqudsy called. Preiin was at risk with A♣K♠, as was QueenBee902 with 4♥3♥. Nadyalqudsy showed 9♣9♥, and that developed into the best two pair on the Q♠4♣J♣Q♥8♣ board. QueenBee902 was out in fifth place with $741.00, and preiin followed in fourth place with $1,072.50.
Nadyalqudsy still leads
With three players remaining, the chip counts were as follows:
Seat 1: BarborkaRec (120,626 in chips)
Seat 3: nadyalqudsy (441,058 in chips)
Seat 4: MirKriSAN (218,316 in chips)
And then, MirKriSAN made her move and took the chip lead:
On the very next hand, BarborkaRec pushed all-in from the small blind with Q♠T♦, and nadyalqudsy called from the big blind with A♦3♦. The board blanked with J♥6♠4♣9♥J♣, and the ace-high hand won to eliminate BarborkaRec in third place with $1,430.00.
Close heads-up start
The two finalists began their battle with these stacks:
Seat 3: nadyalqudsy (378,368 in chips)
Seat 4: MirKriSAN (401,632 in chips)
The first big hand of the match ended with a chop:
And MirKriSAN stayed aggressive from there. Eventually, the two got involved in a reraised flop of 6♣4♠2♥, at which point MirKriSAN bet and nadyalqudsy reraised all-in for 270,338 chips. MirKriSAN called with 7♥7♦ for the overpair, and nadyalqudsy showed 9♠5♠ for the straight draw. The J♠ and 4♦ finished the hand with nadyalqudsy out in second place for $1,885.00.
MirKriSAN of Slovenia won the tournament and $2,515.50 in cash. Congrats!
Happy New Year, everyone!
