Women's Sunday victory for iskweewQQ of Canada

Now that 2014 is in full swing and the PCA is coming to the end of its tenth anniversary festival in the Bahamas, it's time to focus on some of the big opportunities for women this year.

The player's choice PS Women Live satellites are back to round out the current EPT season. Win your €1,100 prize package for tour stops like Deauville, Vienna, and Sanremo through our satellite lineup. More details here.

Some people are sweating the PCA Women's Event that began today in the Bahamas, but there was also a solid turnout for our weekly $55 Women's Sunday on PokerStars. The final numbers were:

Total players: 243
Guarantee: $10,000.00
Prize pool: $12,150.00
Paid finishers: 36

Since many of the members of Team PokerStars are involved in live events in the Bahamas, there was only one with a $50 bounty in this week's Women's Sunday. And it was the newest Friend of PokerStars, Natalie Hof! She finished the tournament early, but it was nice to see her in action.

The field thinned to two tables at 20 minutes past the three-hour mark, but it took more than 30 minutes for a table to disappear. Runkaboy finally moved her short stack all-in with Q♦J♦, and original raiser MegaLidia called with J♣T♥. But the board came T♦K♣9♦9♣9♥, and Runkaboy was gone in tenth place with $194.40.

The final table was set as follows:

Seat 1: chrocks (29,282 in chips)
Seat 2: asselka (42,903 in chips)
Seat 3: iskweewQQ (52,340 in chips)
Seat 4: danechka1991 (147,475 in chips)
Seat 5: princini23 (121,902 in chips)
Seat 6: babyoilbum (71,941 in chips)
Seat 7: COYS0708 (64,304 in chips)
Seat 8: MegaLidia (65,559 in chips)
Seat 9: EvelinXX (133,294 in chips)

It didn't take long to find an all-in-and-call situation, and it happened when EvelinXX raised preflop and asselka pushed all-in from the big blind. EvelinXX called with 6♦5♣ but was far behind the A♦6♥ of asselka. The flop of A♣3♣K♠ gave asselka top pair, but the 9♣ gave EvelinXX the flush draw. And the 6♣ came on the river to complete the flush and eliminated asselka in ninth place with $230.85.

MegaLidia doubled through danechka1991, and the latter was soon relegated to third place on the leaderboard, with MegaLidia in second and EvelinXX in the top spot. But not long after, MegaLidia doubled through danechka1991 again:

On the very next hand, chrocks pushed all-in for just less than 12K chips, and danechka1991 was there with K♦Q♠. Chrocks was at risk with A♦2♥, but the board of Q♥8♠9♦A♠Q♦ gave danechka1991 the trip aces. Chrocks was out in eighth place with $303.75.

MegaLidia took a big pot from COYS0708, but the latter then doubled through danechka1991 to stay alive. And just after the 4.5-hour break, iskweewQQ doubled through EvelinXX. And then, danechka1991 made this incredible comeback:

With that, COYS0708 was gone in seventh place with $425.25.

Three hands later, EvelinXX doubled through danechka1991 to stay alive.

And another three hands after that, princini23 raised from the button with A♠5♦ for all of her chips, and babyoilbum called from the small blind with A♥7♦. The board of 8♥9♣5♠7♥T♣ eliminated princini23 in sixth place with $546.75.

EvelinXX was the next to be at risk. It happened after denachka1991 raised and MegaLidia reraised. EvelinXX pushed all-in, and danechka1991 reraised all-in, prompting MegaLidia to fold. EvelinXX showed K♦K♥ against the T♦T♥ of danechka1991, but the flop of T♠A♦4♣ gave danechka1991 the set. And though the 9♣ on the turn did nothing, the T♣ on the river made quads. There was no question that EvelinXX was out in fifth place for $704.70.

Another big hand developed that started with an UTG all-in move from babyoilbum with A♥6♠. IskweewQQ reraised all-in from the small blind with K♣K♠, and danechka1991 called both players with A♦Q♠ from the big blind. The board offered 2♦2♥6♥9♦8♣, and iskweewQQ collected a substantial pot while babyoilbum exited in fourth place with $1,032.75.

Danechka1991 hit a big double through MegaLidia:

A few rounds later, the two ladies tangled in another big pot. Danechka1991 raised, MegaLidia reraised, and danechka1991 moved all-in. MegaLidia called all-in with T♦T♣, and danechka1991 showed Q♣J♦. The board of 4♦T♥5♣9♠8♥ flopped a set for MegaLidia, but the river brought a straight for her opponent. MegaLidia was gone in third place, which was worth $1,372.95.

Danechka1991 back on top for heads-up action

The initial heads-up chip counts were:

Seat 3: iskweewQQ (158,762 in chips)
Seat 4: danechka1991 (570,238 in chips)

At one point, iskweewQQ did double-up to nearly 300K, and though she fell a bit, she then hit this hand:

Danechka1991 doubled back a bit later to nearly 400K, but she then lost ground in what was a very exciting match. Finally, the two got involved to see a raised flop of 7♥4♠K♣ and a raised turn of 9♣. Danechka1991 bet again, and iskweewQQ called. The J♥ on the river prompted an all-in bet from danechka1991 with K♥J♣ for top two pair, but iskweewQQ called with Q♠T♠ for the straight. Danechka1991 took second place for $1,822.50.

IskweewQQ of Canada won the Women's Sunday for $2,484.78. Congrats!
