New year, same Rafa

The calendar may look different, but the world's No. 1 tennis player looks just the same.

PokerStars SportStar Rafa Nadal kicked off his 2014 by heading to the Qatar Open where he breezed through the field to take on Gael Monfils in the final.

It made for some exciting tennis. After crushing Monfils in the first set, Nadal lost in a tiebreaker in the second set, then went on to win a tense one in the third.

It marked Rafa's first win of the year and served as proof his 2013 comeback story wasn't finished yet.

Rafa fans will recall, this time last year Rafa had yet to come back from a seven-month knee injury that left him sidelined for most of 2012.

Beginning in February 2013, Rafa went on to win 77 of 83 matches, three majors, and five ATP titles. He ended the 2013 season as No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings for the third time. That's not to mention his first live poker tournament victory at EPT Prague.

Now, 2014 is underway and Nadal seems on form for another big year.

Congrats, Rafa, on another great performance.
