3591omanyd snares 9/25/12 Super Tuesday win, $81K-plus score

Super Tuesday logo.pngWith the 2012 World Championship of Online Poker having ended on Monday, it was back to business on Tuesday as the weekly $1,050 no-limit hold'em tournament -- a.k.a. the "Super Tuesday" -- returned to the schedule following a three-week hiatus.

One might have expected a drop-off following all of the WCOOP action, but such was not the case as a big field of 427 players entered. That group created a $427,000 prize pool, thus beating the $300K guarantee. The top 54 finishers would divide the money, with $81,941.30 due the winner.

It was just after the three-hour mark that the field had been trimmed to exactly 200 players, with eddymaksoud, Ryan "HITTHEPANDA" Franklin, floppinhel, EnisMarch, and Norrmaniano at that point occupying the top spots in the counts.

A little over an hour later just 100 remained, with Zimmy86, Christian "charder30" Harder, Matthijs "ThijsRemie" Remie, nailuj90, and Norrmaniano leading the way. Also on the first page of the counts was Team PokerStars Pro Ana Marquez sitting in 10th position.

As they approached the money bubble it was modogrinder moving ahead to be the first player over 100,000 while Marquez also chipped up and into the top five. By the time the bubble burst a little while after the five-hour mark, Flsah Back, Nick "FU_15" Maimone, sosickPL, *MAP*, and Amit "AMAK316" Makhija were leading the way.

Appearing among the first waves of players cashing were Dan "APoweres1968" Colpoys (53rd, $2,135), Li "Python817" Zhang (51st, $2,135), Matthijs "ThijsRemie" Remie (49th, $2,135), and Shaun "shaundeeb" Deeb (37th, $2,348.50).

Not long after that Team PokerStars Pro Ana Marquez found herself all in before the flop with A♠K♥ against Amit "AMAK316" Makhija's 3♣3♦, and when her hand failed to improve she hit the rail in 34th place for a $2,562 cash.

As they moved through the seventh hour the field was cut down to 18 players, with Thiago "XTheDecanoX" Nishijima (33rd, $2,562), Jordan "JWPRODIGY" Westmorland (32nd, $2,562), Ryan "HITTHEPANDA" Franklin (30th, $2,562), Balazs "birs320" Botond (23rd, $2,989), and Amit "AMAK316" Makhija (19th, $2,989) among those having by then hit the rail.

Nick "FU_15" Maimone then occupied the top spot with just over 350,000, well ahead of 3591omanyd with about 243,000 and Flsah Back who had just under 229,000.

It would take more than an hour for nine more to fall, during which stretch sosickPL grabbed the top spot, then extended the chip lead by a considerable margin. Meanwhile floppinhel (18th), johnshooter9 (17th), and David "Betudontbet" Emmons (16th) each earned $3,843 for their finishes. Waltinho "terrific28" Oaquim (15th), punisher03 (14th), and fiscardddd (13th) made $4,697 apiece. And Flsah Back (12th), Nikolo5 (11th), and Big_Nemo (10th) all took away $5,551.

Right as the eight-hour break arrived, the final table was underway.

Seat 1: 3591omanyd (Germany) -- 186,457
Seat 2: *MAP* (Canada) -- 104,620
Seat 3: modogrinder (Costa Rica) -- 100,948
Seat 4: Nick "FU_15" Maimone (Honduras) -- 206,817
Seat 5: sosickPL (Poland) -- 816,284
Seat 6: John "68ioweyou1" Andress (Canada) -- 256,926
Seat 7: Zimmy86 (United Kingdom) -- 265,194
Seat 8: Luke "LukeFromB13" Staudenmaier (Canada) -- 93,422
Seat 9: Christian "charder30" Harder (Canada) -- 104,332

It would take about 15 minutes for the first final table elimination to occur, during which period *MAP* managed a needed double-up after picking up A♣A♠ versus sosickPL's K♠K♦.

With the blinds 2,800/5.600, chip leader sosickPL min-raised to 11,200 from early position, then Zimmy86 called from a couple of seats over. Christian "charder30" Harder then reraised all in for 93,932 total from the cutoff seat. It folded back to sosickPL who reshoved all in, forcing Zimmy86 to fold.

Harder turned over 9♣9♠ and was hoping his pocket pair would hold versus sosickPL's A♣K♠. But the flop came J♠Q♥K♥ to pair sosickPL's hand, and after the 4♦ turn and J♥ river, Harder was out in ninth.

The remaining eight marched on for about 10 minutes, then two knockouts came in rapid succession.

First came a hand in which modogrinder min-raised to 12,800 from middle position, sosickPL reraised to 22,200 from the button, the blinds folded, and modogrinder reraised all in for 119,948 total. sosickPL called the shove, showing A♦Q♣ to modogrinder's K♠T♠, and after the board came 2♦Q♦9♦5♠K♦, sosickPL's flush beat modogrinder's pair of kings, sending the latter out in eighth.

Just four hands later, Zimmy86 opened with a 2x raise to 12,800 from middle position, then Luke "LukeFromB13" Staudenmaier reraised to 28,485 from a seat over. It folded back around to Zimmy86 who pushed for 104,299 total and Staudenmaier called.

Zimmy86: 7♠7♦
LukeFromB13: A♠J♠

The 2♦3♥9♦ flop and 3♠ turn meant Zimmy86's sevens were still best, but the A♥ fell on the river to give Staudenmaier the better pair and end Zimmy86's run in seventh.

It was only a few minutes later that a big hand developed between Nick "FU_15" Maimone and John "68ioweyou1" Andress that saw Maimone all in for more than 155,000 before the flop with A♠J♠ and Andress almost all in holding 7♣7♦. The flop then brought three spades -- K♠3♠9♠ -- giving Maimone a flush. Andress couldn't catch up, and suddenly he was down to just over 8,000 chips.

Soon 68ioweyou1 was all in and up against two opponents, FU_15 and sosickPL. Maimone would call bets from his opponent following the 2♦T♠K♥ flop and Q♥ turn, but another bet from sosickPL after the 2♥ river got Maimone to fold. sosickPL then showed A♠K♦ for kings and deuces, and 68ioweyou1 showed Q♦J♥ for a lesser two pair before departing in sixth.

That hand with Andress had pushed Nick "FU_15" Maimone up over 320,000 and into second chip position behind sosickPL. However, a short while later Maimone was the one seeing his stack nearly depleted following a preflop all-in confrontation with 3591omanyd in which the latter held A♠8♠ and Maimone K♥7♥. The board ran out A♥8♥K♠T♦5♠, and suddenly FU_15 was down to less than 12,000 chips.

On the next hand Mamoine would be all in versus two opponents -- 3591omanyd and sosickPL -- and those two would trade bets down to the river as the community cards came 2♣8♦7♥4♦2♠. 3591omanyd then showed K♥7♣ (sevens and deuces), 3591omanyd showed 9♠8♥ (eights and deuces), and FU_15 mucked, having seen his Super Tuesday run end in fifth place.

The final four made it to the nine-hour break, at which point sosickPL still led with just over 1.21 million, 3591omanyd was next with about 513,000, *MAP* was third with a little less than 289,000, and Luke "LukeFromB13" Staudenmaier last with about 121,000.

Just a few hands after play resumed the blinds were 4,000/8,000 when sosickPL raised to 16,000 from the button, then LukeFromB13 reraised all in for 88,659 total. It folded back to sosickPL who called, showing J♣9♣ while Staudenmaier turned over 2♥2♦. The flop came 9♦T♥J♠ to pair sosickPL twice. The turn was the Q♦, giving Staudenmaier some straight outs to chop, but the river was the 3♠ and they were down to three.

The trio battled on, with *MAP* grabbing a couple of big pots to catch and then push in front of sosickPL. After that 3591omanyd would double through sosickPL to edge close to *MAP* chipwise and knock sosickPL back into third position.

Then shortly after the 10-hour mark the blinds were 7,000/14,000 when sosickPL raised to 29,400 from the small blind. 3591omanyd reraised to 63,000 from the big blind, sosickPL pushed all in for 381,350 total, and 3591omanyd called.

sosickPL turned over A♥5♥ and 3591omanyd A♦J♣. The flop paired both, coming 5♣J♥2♠. The turn was the K♦ and river the 7♥, and sosickPL was out in third.

Heads-up play began with 3591omanyd having about a 2-to-1 chip advantage with 1,365,737 to *MAP*'s 769,263.

After two dozen hands 3591omanyd had chipped *MAP* down to just over 500,000. Then a hand arose in which *MAP* opened with a 3x raise from the button to 42,000 and 3591omanyd called. The flop came K♥T♠4♠. 3591omanyd checked, *MAP* bet 56,000, and 3591omanyd called.

The turn was the 2♠. 3591omanyd checked again, and this time *MAP* bet 98,000. 3591omanyd responded with a raise to 196,000, and *MAP* came back with an all-in push for 403,513 that 3591omanyd called without hesitation. Their cards were revealed...

3591omanyd: K♠7♠
*MAP*: K♦Q♠

Both had flopped a pair of kings, but that turn had given 3591omanyd an unbeatable flush, making the A♦ river no matter. 3591omanyd had won!
