The final Sunday Warm-Up of November drew a field of 4,651 players, with the final 675 earning a piece of the $930,200 prize pool that was created over the next several hours. Over 30 members of Team Pokerstars would participate in today's Sunday Warm-Up, but only two made the money. Friend of PokerStars player Pierre "ZouteChamp" Neville (348th for $409.28) and Team Canada PokerStars PRO Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu (579th for $334.87).
The final table bubble burst when the blinds were at 80,000/160,000 with an ante of 16,000. WlkRambo opened from the small blind to 415,000 with A♠ Q♥ as gizzimow called from the big blind with 8♥8♦. The flop came down 9♠ 9♥ 8♠ giving gizzimow a flopped full house as WlkRambo was drawing dead. WlkRambo led out for 416,000 as gizzimow decided to call. The turn brought the K♠ as WlkRambo fired out a bet of 885,000 as gizzimow continued to set the trap, merely calling. The 4♠ on the river gave WlkRambo the nut flush, and thinking it was best, moved in for 2,541,582 in chips. Gizzimow called on the river and turned over the full house for an over 8 million chip pot, knocking out WlkRambo in 10th place for $5,581.20 as gizzimow moved into a huge chip lead.
Here's how the final table looked when action started:
Seat 1: gizzimow (11,060,061 in chips)
Seat 2: gretko (3,012,384 in chips)
Seat 3: Dsavo (5,966,281 in chips)
Seat 4: BEGEMOT13 (6,127,639 in chips)
Seat 5: CR711 (6,508,579 in chips)
Seat 6: PUICA (6,094,442 in chips)
Seat 7: lNormaJean (3,201,904 in chips)
Seat 8: PrinceAndrew (2,358,534 in chips)
Seat 9: wiper222 (2,180,176 in chips)
Wiper222 was the first player to leave the final table, collecting $7,441.60. The blinds had increased to 100,000/200,000 with an ante of 20,000 when BEGEMOT13 raised to 400,000 from UTG +1 with A♥K♣. Action folded around to wiper222 who shoved for 1,356,176 with A♠J♣ with BEGEMOT13 making the call. The board ran out 2♣ 3♦ 8♠ 7♠ 2♥ and BEGEMOT13's kicker was good enough to take down the hand.
In just two hands, the field would fall to six players as gizzimow would take A Q against pocket pairs and outflop them both times. The blinds had increased to 125,000/250,000 with an ante of 25,000 when gretko shoved for 3,136,768 from UTG with 9♥9♣ as gizzimow called from the big blind with A♦Q♣. The flop came down Q♥ 3♦ 5♣ as gizzimow moved into the lead. The turn and river came down T♦ 6♥ as gretko cashed in 8th place for $11,627.50. On the next hand, BEGEMOT13 moved in from UTG for 1,920,994 with 7♣7♠ as gizzimow called from the small blind with A♠Q♠. The flop was 4♥ Q♣ J♠, leaving BEGEMOT13 drawing to two outs. The turn and river were blanks: 9♠ 8♦ as BEGEMOT13 hit the rail in 7th place, good for $20,929.50 with gizzimow now holding over 20 million in chips.
Gizzimow was not involved in the next flurry of action, as three consecutive hands would bring the field down to just four players. First, a blind v blind confrontation had PUICA moving in from the small blind with A♦6♣, barely covering INormaJean, who called all-in for 3,552,061 with K♣J♥. The flop came down 5♦ T♦ 9♥, giving INormaJean a gutshot straight draw. Mentioning this fact, you know what's coming next: Q♥ on the turn to give INormaJean the checkmark, with the 6♦ on the river giving PUICA just 124,724 in chips. Those chips went into the middle with J♦7♥, as INormaJean raised from the small blind to isolate with A♦A♣. The board ran out 7♣ 8♦ A♠ J♠ 5♣ as PUICA finished in 6th place as an email possibly was sent notifying him he earned $30,231.50. On the next hand, Dsavo opened from UTG for 501,321 holding Q♠Q♦ while CR711 re-raised all-in for 3,941,079 total with Q♣J♣. Dsavo quickly called and when the cards showed they were well ahead. The flop came Q♥ 8♠ 7♥ and the outcome was already decided. For the record, the 6♥ 4♦ appeared on the turn and river, as CR711 will be noted as cashing in 5th place for $39,533.50.
The action went into a lull yet again, but then back-to-back hands created a pair of eight-figure pots. Action had now moved the blinds to 150,000/300,000 with an ante of 30,000 when INormaJean min-raised from UTG with A♦A♠, as Dsavo shoved for 7,657,921 with 9♦9c] and INormaJean snap-called. The flop slammed the door on the proceedings: A♣ 4♦ K♠ and Dsavo's hopes for running 9's were quickly quashed by the 6♣ turn and Q♣ river. On the next hand the blinds were up to 200,000/400,000 with an ante of 40,000 as the action got more intense as a three-way pot created all sorts of action:
Dsavo picks up $52,556.30 for the 4th place finish.
At this point the chip counts were relatively close, and a deal was reached extremely quickly. Here's the chip counts and deal figures with $10,000 left for the winner:
gizzimow (19,083,461 in chips - $114,004.63)
lNormaJean (13,849,892 in chips - $103,785.85)
PrinceAndrew (13,576,647 in chips - $103,251.81)
Three-handed, the chip lead would be held between gizzimow and INormaJean, as PrinceAndrew's stack continued to dwindle. Gizzimow min-raised from the button to 800,000 with A♣Q♠ as PrinceAndrew moved in from the big blind for 6,407,547 with T♠T♣. The first four cards on the board were good for PrinceAndrew as it came down 7♥ 8♠ K♦ 4♥. However, the Q♣ on the river meant PrinceAndrew was unable to add to the $103,251.81 already received in the deal made earlier.
Heads-up play lasted just a few hands, and it appeared gizzimow would be able to close out the tournament in style, but a blunder on this hand meant a swift reversal of fortune for INormaJean with the blinds now at 250,000/500,000 with an ante of 50,000:
The final hand of the tournament had gizzimow shoving for 6,813,192 with J♥8♥ as INormaJean called with 2♣2♠. The board ran out 3♠ 6♥ A♠ Q♠ T♣ as INormaJean earned the victory, cashing for $113,785.35, but gizzimow collected the most money for finishing in 2nd - $114,004.63.
