TCOOP 2013: Jeremiade takes high roller title, George "Jorj95" Lind fifth in Event #47 ($2,100 NLHE)

PokerStars' High Roller events attract the cream of the crop, and the TCOOP was no exception. A quick scan of the entries reveals a slew of screen names that'll put the fear of God in you, and more than a few of them ended up on the final table. However, it was a low-stakes SNG player who topped all the superstars in the end, Germany's Jeremiade winning two key pots four-handed to come away with a TCOOP title and over $382,000.

1,095 players came out for the TCOOP's high roller event, their $2,100 buy-ins pooling together to leave $2,190,000 up for grabs. 144 places were paid, five players would make six-figure scores and the winner was set to earn $382,812.00 for a bit over four hours' work. Naturally, the Red Spades were out in force for this event, Jason Mercier, Victor Ramdin, Kevin "WizardOfAhhs" Thurman, Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara, Jonathan Duhamel, Theo Jorgensen, Maxim Lykov, Nacho Barbero, Angel Guillen, Matthias De Meulder, Toni Judet, Pierre Neuville, Johnny Lodden, George Danzer, Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen, and Ville Wahlbeck all joining the field. However, the only one to come away with a cash was Team Online's George Lind III, who took the chip lead with 16 players left and made the final table.

With ten players remaining, the blinds were up to 70,000/140,000 and the average stack was less than eight big blinds. Mindgamer opened for a min-raise from UTG, calvin7v shoved for 547,000 on the button, and azn_baller3 called all-in for his remaining 190,500 from the small blind.

Mindgamer was in the worst shape of the three, but was the only one to pair up on the T♣6♣3♠4♠2♣ board. His pair of threes good, mindgamer eliminated azn_baller3 in tenth place and calvin7v in ninth, seizing the chip lead as he advanced to the eight-handed final table.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: softcored (1,690,512 in chips)
Seat 2: SUNDAYKING (626,530 in chips)
Seat 3: FU_15 (809,745 in chips)
Seat 5: Jorj95 (1,189,186 in chips)
Seat 6: MrSmits (1,011,608 in chips)
Seat 7: Jeremiade (1,494,754 in chips)
Seat 8: TheMuppet (1,401,866 in chips)
Seat 9: mindgamer (2,725,799 in chips)

Essentially devoid of soft spots, this was one highly decorated final table. Nick "FU_15"Maimone has dozens of MTT wins on PokerStars, including the Super Tuesday. SUNDAYKING won a 2012 SCOOP title in a $2,100 NLHE event. TheMuppet narrowly missed out on his own SCOOP title, falling heads-up to Shaun Deeb in last spring's $2,100 Stud event. Mindgamer has WCOOP, SCOOP, and Sunday 500 final tables on his C.V. and Team Online's George "Jorj95" Lind III is nothing short of an online legend, with a SCOOP title, multiple WCOOP final tables, and a second-place finish in the $10k Omaha Hi/Lo World Championship at the 2012 World Series of Poker.

SUNDAYKING sacked, FU_15 flips

Short stack SUNDAYKING got his chips in straight away, open-shoving for 586,500 with A♥7♣. Unfortunately for him, Jorj95 woke up with A♣Q♦ on the button. Jorj95 hit a queen on the flop and SUNDAYKING's reign came to an end in eighth place.

Following SUNDAYKING's elimination, FU_15 tried to interest his opponents in a deal. However, before everyone could click the box to pause the tournament, FU_15 found Q♥J♥ in the small blind and called off his last 360,000 in chips. Original raiser mindgamer revealed 6♠6♦ and the small pair held, sending FU_15 to the rail in seventh.

mindgamer KOs MrSmits, Jorj95

With six players remaining, Jorj95 was second in chips behind mindgamer, with 2.54 million to his 4 million. The blinds up to 100,000/200,000, softcore open-shoved from UTG with A♣J♦ and Jorj95 reshoved right behind him with pocket eights. Softcore hit a jack on the flop and an ace on the river, doubling to 3.58 million while Jorj95 was left with less than a million.

On the very next deal, Jorj95 open-shoved for 930,000 from UTG, MrSmits called all-in for 422,000 from UTG+1, and mindgamer reshoved for 3.8 million from the small blind.

Mindgamer's ace-ten kept the lead the entire time, the board running out Q♥4♥2♥4♣T♥ to give him the nut flush and the double KO. MrSmits was eliminated in sixth place ($87,600) and Jorj95 took fifth, good for $109,500.

Shortly after busting out, a cheeky Jorj95 let everyone know he was fine with making a deal.

Jeremiade's double-double

Down to only 612,000, TheMuppet doubled through softcored when his A♣Q♣ held up against K♥7♠. A few hands later, it was Jeremiade's turn. After shoving for his last 1.1 million, he raked in a 2.45 million pot when his K♥9♠ hung on against mindgamer's Q♥7♠. When the tournament paused for the hourly break, mindgamer still lead with 5.16 million, softcored held 2.31 million, Jeremiade was up to 1.93 million, and TheMuppet was the short stack with 1.56 million.

After the break, Jeremiade scored another double-up courtesy of mindgamer, his A♦J♦ defeating A♥T♥. Meanwhile, TheMuppet blinded away to only 624,000 before trying his luck with K♠T♦. Softcored called with A♥7♣, but TheMuppet flopped kings and tens to move up to 1.62 million.

softcored succumbs, mindgamer mauls TheMuppet

Softcored's 1.5 million now totaling only five big blinds, he three-bet shoved from the big blind with A♣Q♠ and Jeremiade called with T♠T♦. Although the coin initially fell on softcored's side, the flop landing A♦Q♦3♦, Jeremiade picked up a fourth diamond on the river to make the nut flush. Softcored was eliminated in fourth place, banking $155,490 for his efforts.

No one was happier about this turn of events than TheMuppet, who was guaranteed another $52,560 thanks to the pay jump. After mindgamer moved in from UTG on the next hand, TheMuppet found pocket threes and called from the big blind. Mindgamer's K♥9♥ hit a nine on the flop and unable to spike a two-outer, TheMuppet departed in third place.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 7: Jeremiade (4,284,442 in chips)
Seat 9: mindgamer (6,665,558 in chips)

Jeremiade chipped up to 4.7 million, then made a preflop three-bet shove to pick up a 1.7 million pot and move into the chip lead. Despite their closely aligned chip stacks and the gargantuan size of the blinds (now 200,000/400,000), surprisingly no deal discussions broke out.

The tournament was decided two hands later, mindgamer moving all-in with Q♠7♦ and Jeremiade making an easy call with A♥5♠. Two pair on the flop gave Jeremiade a stranglehold on the hand, and he locked up the win two cards later with aces up.

Congratulations to Jeremiade on a TCOOP title and a career-high score of $382,812. For his runner-up finish, mindgamer earned $278,130.
