High-rolling in Brazil
LAPT Sao Paulo was a great experience from beginning to end. With 536 players, the main event claimed the biggest ever field for an LAPT tournament.
Sao Paulo the largest city in South America (not to mention the biggest city in the southern hemisphere). It's simply great. The city offers all kind of activities, beautiful women, and great food.
I was very proud to see nearly 30 Venezuelan players participate in the main event. In the old days, there were usually fewer than ten. As my job is to promote PokerStars in Venezuela, it appears I'm doing a decent job. I was recently approved as a partner affiliate of PokerStars in Venezuela. It's going great. Poker is getting big here.
I played two tourneys while I was in Sao Paulo. I busted out of the main event on the final level of day 1. I got sucked out on on the river, but that's part of the game.
The only other tournament I played was the High Roller event. I chopped first place with two Brazilians.
The High Roller event was a really tough field including Andre Akkari, Nacho Barbero, Leo Fernandez, and all the big South American pros. The final table was really a grind for me. I got there with the smallest stack, but worked my way into the final three. Angel Guillen, the PokerStars Team Pro from Mexico, finished in 5th place.
I'm very pleased with the Sao Paulo experience and looking forward to playing all the LAPT events. It's so nice to see larger and larger fields every time. In no time, Latin American players will start winning major events all over the world. We are becoming big in the poker world.
I'd like to invite players from all over the world to come to the LAPT tournaments and enjoy our beautiful countries. See you here!
