Into the Poker Glacier
Iceland a place many people know but never really expect to go to in their lifetime. Yes, that includes me, too, and I'm happy I got that chance to go. Here's why. It all started off when I was invited to come out to Iceland for a little vacation and check out the Jivaro office. Well, the conversation snowballed and went something like this (not word for word but you get the gist):
Them: We can do a nanonoko video blog while you're down here to show people "Look I'm in Iceland!"
Me: What about doing a little skit instead, I think that would be more fun.
Them: Yeah I know the production manager of Game of Thrones (Petur Sigurdsson) maybe he can help us out.
Petur: How about we go to an ice cave?
Me: I'm ecstatic because how often do you get to tell people you get to go to an ice cave on a glacier?
Petur: Yeah we'll also get Hafthor Bjornsson who plays "The Mountain" in the Game of Thrones.
Me: Wait what I also get to meet a celebrity in this video? YES!
Petur: Oh and let's make this James Bond meets poker.
Me: ...nanonoko gets to be JAMES BOND...SIGN ME UP
This really was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Getting to be a star in a short film. Yes, we shot all of this in one day, and we were going for the fun video, but it was cool at the same time to show off Iceland. You can see things get out of hand...I mean poker in an ice cave? Randomly finding Andrew "LuckyChewy" Lichtenberger in Iceland? Helicopters? Driving super jeeps on unpaved roads on top of the second largest glacier in Iceland where if you take a wrong turn you're dead? Wearing a suit outside in at least -8 degrees celsius where my hands were going numb after 5 minutes?
Yeah probably sounds exciting and you can watch the final product of "Into the Poker Glacier" here!
