PokerStars Championship Barcelona: Patrick Leonard discusses "that hand"
Rewinding back a few days to when we were on the money bubble in the PokerStars Championship Barcelona Main Event, a hand between Patrick Leonard and Luigi Shehadeh up on the feature table became a huge social media talking point.
If you haven't seen it yet, check it out below.
Many players responded to the hand, particularly on Twitter. Team Pro Andre Akkari (who was at the table during the hand) said:
I honestly didnt see anything special, just some talk trying to get info. From my seat was just that. I dont Patrick but thats what i saw.— andre akkari (@aakkari) August 24, 2017
Daniel Negreanu played devil's advocate:
What do you do if he says "Phew" and turns over a bluff? You make the call then and take the pot? Or let him have it?— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) August 25, 2017
Before Leonard and Negreanu met up in person and hashed things out:
Went back to the elevator on the break and guess who's there? Mr real kid poker himself! We discussed and agreed 👍— Patrick Leonard (@plenopads) August 25, 2017
Now, Leonard has posted a video discussing "that hand" in detail, so who better to explain it than the man himself.
Anyway, no harm was done in the end. Having watched Leonard play in the toughest line-ups for the past few years, we here at the PokerStars Blog don't believe he was angle shooting. Having said that, we understand how it could seem that way.
If you're looking to see a REAL angle shoot though, who could forget this one from the 2011 EPT Grand Final Madrid:
