PokerStars Championship Panama: National Championship booming

If anyone at PokerStars HQ was worried about the National Championship here in Panama not meeting the guarantee, they can rest easy tonight. The very first flight of players managed to bust the $400,000 guarantee on their own.

On Saturday, the $1,100 PokerStars National Championship Day 1A flight pulled in 294 players and 129 re-entries, blowing past the guaranteed before the next two flights were ready to play.

After buying in for a second time, Canada's Troy Quenneville finished at the top of Day 1A.

On its own, that would've been a great tournament. But that's not going to be it for the prize a long shot.

When Day 1B began today, it racked up more than 230 entries, and that won't be the end of it, either. In a couple of hours, Day 1C will kick off. It's a turbo version of Day 1 with 15-minute levels.

When it's all said and done, this is going to going to be one very big event. Stay tuned for more in the coming days.
