We have our first Platinum Pass winners of 2018
If we've been doing our jobs right and you haven't been under a rock, you know about the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold'em Championship, the $25,000 buy-in event here in the Bahamas this time next year. You know, the one in which PokerStars is giving away a whopping 300 packages? Yes, that one.
Well, PokerStars calls those packages Platinum Passes. The first couple went out in Prague during the bubble of PokerStars Championship Main Event. Now, they're starting to hit in 2018.
Meet Andrea Benelli.
Platinum Pass winner Andrea Benelli
Benelli, 36, just won his Platinum Pass (worth $30,000) as part of his prize for winning the Italian Poker Open.
"It feels fantastic especially because I have never played a High Roller," Benelli said. "It is going to be my first one, and I am very happy to play against the best players in the world."
PokerStars also awarded a slew of Platinum Passes to the winners of the Winter Series Main Events yesterday. One of those is Canada's Philip Elliot aka freezeplay. Not only did he win $363,000, he also booked his seat for the PSPC.
"It feels awesome," he said last night after his win. "I can't wait to parlay that pass."
Those are just two of the Platinum Pass winners from this week. There will be more. In fact, there will be one today at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure when we determine the winner of the PCA National Championship.
