ANZPT7 Perth Day 2: Kane climbs to the top
The atmosphere in the poker room was electric today as ANZPT Main Event Day 2 qualifiers piled into Crown Perth. The superstitious were perhaps extra cautious on this Friday the 13th at the felt, with players looking to survive to Day 3 tomorrow.
Many fell by the wayside. The day started with 105 runners and after the sixth level tonight only 36 remain. Today saw players edge closer to the money with 21 spots paying dividends.
The Players Party last night offered a chance to unwind, but at the tables today it was all business. Everyone with chips at their disposal chasing the $105,000 top prize and the first ANZPT Main Event title of the year.
Macau regular Raiden Kan started the day as chip boss, but when all was said and done tonight, it was Michael Kane who emerged on top. Kane bagged up 212,300 and will be the one to chase here on Day 3 tomorrow.
Prominent British player Stephen Chidwick and Team Pokerstars pro Bryan Huang maintained their dominant positions from Day 1. After rising to the top during Day 1b, Chidwick finished today second in chips with a stack of 201,900.
After finishing Day 1a second in chips behind Raiden Kan, Huang continued to accumulate chips through the six levels today. He will start Day 3 third in chips with 189,200.
A few notable players that didn't make the cut include Didier Guerin, Lennart Uphoff, Jack Salter, Martin Finger, Dean Blatt, Iori Yogo, and Mustapha Kanit.
For the survivors, however, it's back here at 12:30pm local time to battle it out on Day 3. Here's how the chip bosses stack up.
