ANZPT Auckland Day 1a: APPT to partner with Aussie Millions

We love starting a new tournament with a bang and that's exactly what has happened here in Auckland with some very exciting news coming out of PokerStars HQ this afternoon.

As our 50-odd entrants sit down to get amongst it in the ANZPT Auckland Main Event, they're oblivious to the news that the Asia Pacific Poker Tour will be partnering with Crown Melbourne for the 2014 Aussie Millions to become part of the APPT Season 8.

The APPT 8: Aussie Millions will be the first stop of the season, kicking off the year with a bang from January 23rd to February 10th 2014. There are 20 championships events on the schedule with the $10,600 Main Event running from February 2nd - 9th 2014.

"The Aussie Millions becoming part of the APPT is a great fit for both Crown Melbourne and Global Poker Tours Ltd." said APPT President Danny McDonagh. "Linking one of the best tournaments in Asia Pacific with the region's biggest poker tour benefits everyone. Personally, I can't wait to again be actively involved in one of the very top big buy-in events in the world."

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour began back in 2007 and has led the way for the development of the game throughout Asia, reaching exciting new destinations and breaking ground for the growth of poker. Now in its seventh season, the APPT features events in the Philippines, South Korea, Macau, New Zealand and Australia.

This partnership should lead to some big numbers for the Aussie Millions Main Event and the best place to qualify is right here on PokerStars. There are eight qualifiers to the Aussie Millions Main Event running throughout the week, all with at least one seat guaranteed and some satellites offering as many as three seats guaranteed. Feeder satellites start from as low as $1.10. We suspect even more satellites will be added as the event draws closer.

The beauty of the 2014 Aussie Millions is that the dates no longer clash with the other major championship in January - the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. No longer are players forced to choose between the two as you can play the PCA first and then scoot over to Melbourne to also play the Aussie Millions. No doubt the best players in the world will be there with the schedule also including the prestigious $100,000 Challenge and enormous $250,000 Challenge.

We're thrilled that the Aussie Millions is now part of the APPT, and look forward to seeing you there!
