Even for hardened, cynical poker professionals who are accustomed to five-star luxury whenever they travel, the W Hotel in Seoul draws a low whistle of amazement when they enter the stunning property.

Located adjacent to the Paradise Walker-hill Casino, the W Hotel (one of only two six-star rated hotels in the country) hosted last night’s players’ party, and no-one wanted to miss out.

The Woo Bar, situated in the lobby of the hotel, is a vast futuristic-looking venue with egg shaped chairs, blue background lighting and a silver orb DJ booth that looks like it just landed from outer space.

Six-star service is the standard to Seoul's W Hotel and Woo Bar.

The Woo Bar draws the who’s who of Seoul society (admittedly, we’re not familiar with too many of Korea’s A-listers). Even the staff look like they’ve just wandered off the set of Korea’s Next Top Model.

Greg Raymer and Hevad Khan chat with a pair of Canadian PokerStars qualifiers.

Poker’s own A-listers who attended the welcome party included Team PokerStars Pros Greg Raymer, Hevad Khan and Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (who was keen to test out his newly discovered card tricks on unassuming guests), plus PokerStars Sponsored players Celina Lin, Ivan Tan, Dan Schreiber and APPT Macau champion Eddie Sabat.

ElkY, such a wild card!

The Woo Bar was packed to capacity as PokerStars qualifiers from around the globe mingled, sampled the stunning array of cocktails and snacked on the endless supply of hors d'oeuvres before calling it a night in preparation for today’s main event. Well, some called it a night earlier than others!
