APPT Cebu: Bumpas tops 1B, Fan still in front

The line-up for day two has been finalised in the APPT Cebu Main Event after two day one flights under the big top here at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa.

The Marquee has been packed to capacity all day with side events, cash games and a day 1B field of 213 players, which took the Main Event total to 319 - a record for the Philippines and another feather in the cap for the APPT.

A total of 103 players survived day 1B, joining the 50 players who progressed from day 1A meaning 153 will be back for day two and a shot at one of the 40 spots in the money.

Day 1B chip leader, Brian Bumpas of Long Beach, California

Although there were twice as many chips in play today, it wasn't until late in the day that anyone approached the tally of day 1A chip leader Terry Fan (158,500) although he retains the man to chase ahead of fellow day 1A front runner Bold Uundai of Mongolia (144,000).

Brian Bumpas of the USA was the day 1B chip leader on 142,700, finishing ahead of fellow American and PokerStars Qualifier Jerry Delisle (132,800) and Cambodian-based German PokerStars Player Mike Gaertner (128,100).

Today's line-up included one of the best line-ups of pros ever assembled in the Philippines, including four Team Asia Pros (Celina Lin, Bryan Huang, Jonathan Lin and Tae Jun Noh), two Team Australia Pros (Eric Assadourian and Tony Hachem), one WPT champion (Nam Le) and numerous players who have featured at past APPT final tables, including Ira Blumenthal, Nathanael Seet, Ivan Tan, Stefan Hjorthall and Ramil Tandoc.

The room was also packed with scores of players representing the host nation, led by PokerStars Sponsored Players Neil Arce and model Priscilla Meirelles along with PokerStars Qualifiers from Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.

Four of the six Team Asia Pros - Bryan Huang, Jonathan Lin, Raymond Wu and Jonathan Lin - will be back tomorrow along with defending champion Van Marcus, 33 PokerStars Online Qualifiers and 13 PokerStars Cebu Satellite Winners. We'll be back from 12.15pm for the race to the money in the 2009 APPT Cebu Main Event.
