2014 ACOP: PokerStars partners with MBP for High Roller events
PokerStars is proud to announce that it has partnered with Macau Billionaire Poker (MBP) for the two high roller events at the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) which takes place at the 'PokerStars LIVE Macau' poker room from October 24 to November 9.
MBP is the same group that hosted the 2013 GuangDong Ltd Asia Millions (GDAM) tournament last year which was also co-branded with PokerStars. The HK$1 million buy-in event had 125 entries with an enormous prize pool of HKD$119,375,000 (USD $15.4 million).
"It's incredibly exciting to work with MBP again and to have them sponsoring our high roller events at the ACOP," said APPT President Danny McDonagh. "Their reach in the region is outstanding and could double or triple the participation in both the 250k and 500k events."
In anticipation of the larger fields, the HK$500,000 (USD $65,000) Super High Roller has changed from a 2-day event to a 3-day event from November 1-3 and allows for two rebuys. Meanwhile, the HK$250,000 (USD $32,000) High Roller is a freezeout event that concludes the poker festival from November 8-9.
Germany's Niklas Heinecker won the 2013 GDAM event along with the HK$34.6 million (USD $4.5 million) top prize after defeating a final table full of top poker professionals such as Jeff Rossiter, Sorel Mizzi, and Team PokerStars Online's Isaac Haxton.
The 2014 ACOP high stakes tournaments are also expected to attract the biggest names in poker. Team PokerStars Pros Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier and Jonathan Duhamel; and Anthony Gregg and 2012 World Champion Greg Merson are just some of the names who have already confirmed.
PokerStars LIVE Macau is offering complimentary accommodation for the first 20 players that confirm their participation in the Super High Roller two weeks in advance of the event.
