2014 Macau Millions: Tan tops Day 1B

Tai Tan took down the largest hand of the tournament, burst the bubble and finished with the chip lead in just one hand.

It was ace-king offsuit versus ace-king offsuit, but four spades came in a row to match Tan's king and the day came to a grinding halt. It took only six hours to bring 157 players down to 11.

Tan now tops the Day 2 field after finishing with 364,500.

Tan has been playing and cashing in the PokerStars LIVE room since 2010 and final tabled the HKD $30,000 APPT Macau Main Event in 2011, finishing 8th for HKD $373,000. Now Tan holds a lead that will be hard to overcome.

In second place is another player familiar with victory at PokerStars LIVE Macau, Justin Chan. Chan finished the day second in chips with 211,000. Chan has made Day 2 of this event before, in fact he went on to Day 3 and won the whole thing back in 2010.

Now Chan has a lot of chips and is ready for a repeat of his 2010 run.

Today's top-two is devoid of Norwegians, but they dominated it yesterday. Mikal Blomlie finished Day 1A as the leader with 233,000 but is now bumped to a distant second.

There was one Norwegian with a large stack today though, Henrik Tollefsen. Tollefsen had the chip lead towards the middle of the day and remained near the top until the final two tables. Tollefsen may have taken a tumble but he still advanced to Day 2. Several other chip leaders didn't.

The blinds were quick and ruthless and only 7 percent of the field survived. Among the others that fell today include Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin, Day 1A survivors Iori Yogo and Alex Chieng, Day 1A bubble Percy Yung and Jae Kyung "Simba" Sim.
